Working on our Loremaster Achievement. Finished Ghostlands, Silverpine Forest and started Azshara. Got Explorer Achievement as well for the areas we finished.

Did a little on my hunters. Silverlei, Brishna and Trishna ! Silverlei is filler, trying to get the other two up to 85 on par with Vrishna.

Ashayo

Blasted Lands - the last zone for Eastern Kingdom. I was a bit surprised when one of the first quests said to scout the ships along the shore - I could've sworn BL was a landlocked zone! The tainted scar is no longer there either, but at least the storyline explains that. The main story line in the zone involves helping preventing the resurrection of a demon - by beating them to it and trapping his soul.

Finished the 35 quests 3% into 63 - and got Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms

Kept following the chain regarding the tainted scar, which has a quest with a difference. Rather than just have to collect 10 of this of something and 10 of that of something, you have to kill mobs, figure out what they drop, and figure out how to combine them to make what you need. Slightly more interactive than collection quests.

The story line in Silithus hasn't changed AT ALL. As far as they seem concerned, Outlands, Northrend and Cataclysm didn't happen! Thankfully, only 19 quests to do there. It contained the only quest in the 1600 done to date where I had to get a coordinate mod to find the RIGHT entrance to the hive. Finished exactly 50% into 63.

Off to Outlands!

Hellfire for Alliance is 95% the same as for the Horde. Major difference is probably the Mag'har, which are enemies of the Alliance

Helboar, the other white mean - 100% drop rate now? Used to be that tainted meat would only purify with the mixture less than 50% of the time.

Arazzius the Cruel no longer elite, and easily soloable

The Rock Flayer Blacktalon is also a solo quest

Raiding

- Jekle cleared Firelands with DwP , loot fest

- Offhand, but turned out I already had it

Heroics

- Decided I want to heal on my shammy in new Hour of Twilight heroics, but he was i325. Bought him pvp chest and relic and the BoE valor wrists, and some pretty cheap gloves off the AH. Jumped into End Time and tank left before first boss. Replacement tanked jumped in and we wiped twice on the boss. Was expecting a blame-the-healer attitude but they were actually good and we pulled together to clear the instance. First two bosses dropped healing axe and head peice. Also won a BoE healing plate chest for my pally!. So now I'm i355. Sadly, neither of the End Time quests had gear upgrades for me.

Hey CAW crew!

I hope everyone is enjoying their time in and out of game and are doing well. Its been a while since my last update so I thought I would attempt to get back on my contributing schedule and hope to send more regular updates. the other major distractor kind of came as a surprise as my wife (who is in no way a gamer or even interested in gaming) casually mentioned we should get an Xbox 360. I quickly jumped on the opportunity to experience a different mode of gaming I bought Skyrim and have been getting used to using a consol controler as opposed to the familiar keyboard. I spend most of my time trting not to look at the cieling or floor but have been enjoying it nonetheless. But that is for another audience, on to the WoW content!

My main Bangobingo has been mostly shelved between holiday events but has been able to pop on here and there for the occasional random heroic to boost my iLevel to get into the raid finder. In the inerim I have been leveling my mage, Readytogogo, and am now sitting at level 75. I was relieved to finally be at the point I can level my enchanting and tailoring to max level (both currently sitting at around 400). Most of my playtime has been spent with my rogue on Nagrand, Derkdiggler, who has been diligently running the raid finder to get high level gear. I was glad to have the opportunity to finally raid a tier of content while it is still relevant and am happy to say that I have killed Deathwing. While the quality of raid finder groups is constantly in flux I do enjoy the occasional gear upgrade and woule like to finally get gear that has a set bonus that is still relevant to the content I am playing.

On that note I did have a project in game that I would like some of your feedback on. The premise of this project is that I should be able to gather tier gear from an earlier tier and run the older content in the gear that was relevant to that tier. Thoughts?

Before I close I wanted to share a quick story relating to episode 251 at approximately 32 minutes. During the discussion with Alachia I could swear Aprillian mentioned some of the players were akin to someone who was playing past their prime in the circus and waiting for the next olympics. I was immediately intrigued by this circus olympics and envisioned a myrid of jugglers, lion tamers, and clowns along side the sprinters and pole vaulters at the opening ceremony. I had backtrack and listen closer to hear my error, that she had actually said circuits relating to the tennise pro analogy and not circus. (This is where the hosts laugh out loud and discuss how ludicrus the thought of a olympic circus team is ;))

Hey CaW crew, all is well with the Necronomicons. This week we've be been concentrating on our solo alts and making money on the auction house.

My level 70 mage, named Wraith, is my pet hunter. He ports all over Azeroth farming raptor hatchlings to sell at auction.
Wile picking herbs in the swamp of sorrows (to help Skylla with her inscription) he remembered the fabled Oozing pet and decided to try his luck.
After spending several hours killing big gloopy blob monsters he actually landed the Disgusting Oozing which does indeed sell quite high on the old auction house.
There really aught to be an achievement when you get this pet called "that stain is just not gonna wash out".

Speaking of money making, do you guys have any suggestions on raising cash for heirlooms and such?

The crazy Goblin brothers Riffrocket and Scribbley are doing great. They recently arrived in Stranglethorn Vale where Riffrocket was hoping to get himself a pirate hat.
No sooner had I mentioned this fact to my lovely wife when the hat dropped off the second Oger I killed.
Riffrocket was very pleased even though the had to wait till level 35 to dawn his sexy new Chapeau.

Both my wife and I had one of our toons reach exalted faction status this week, giving us the Sally Fields inspired "somebody likes me" achievement.

It was a good week for dungeons, Prospero the level 82 DK went to his first ever random dungeon with the intrepid Tinnock. They made their way through the Throne of Tides instance and Prospero only died once. The group was good and the dungeon went very fast and he even managed to get a shiny new pair of pants.

Wraith, went with a small group of guild mates to complete Heroic Caverns of Time. He was a little low level for the instance so he died more than a few times but in the end CoD got the achievement. It was his first heroic dungeon.

Contest Entry - Altaholic

Ctrl+Alt+WoW Crew,

Love the show, first off, and it has been a part of my week for some time now!

Blizzard's game had me from the days of beta when Paladins were nothing more than warriors that swung mallets and had a Divine Shield. I was so set on Paladin that when the Hunter class was made available I was completely blindsided by it. I rolled an Orc hunter, Granak, and he has been my main ever since. I, of course, rolled other characters but it wasn't until late into Lich King that my altaholic ways started to manifest themselves. I was suddenly trying to gear out three characters while working on leveling two more. It was getting ridiculous!

Cataclysm came and, hallelujah, the revamp of 1-60. The slog of alts has been made so much better than it used to be and though I've had access to them from the beginning I choose not to use heirlooms. I've even held off on entering an alt of mine into a guild just so I don't get the XP perk, but eventually I always give in and join just because I miss the Green Wall.

This rampant rolling and re-rolling of characters has persisted since LK though I find I haven't payed attention to my toons as much lately due to that OTHER game that involves lightsabers. I do enjoy it, but honestly, I find myself wondering about it long term. WoW is still my game, I know it, though right now I'm a bit distracted. The Loremaster run I've been trying to do has really helped to keep me interested in my other characters besides my main. I'm a huge lore fanatic and experiencing every single bit of story that Blizzard has lovingly woven into the tapestry of this game keeps me coming back every time.

Happy Chinese New Year CAW and COD

Hi Guys

First happy Chinese New Year to you all and this brings around the Lunar Festival in game. Now as 42 I have 5 toons that have done the “Long Strange Trip" and I am about 1/2 way though on my 6th a mage called Aunt Pol who you will know from COD. So following the usual plan she went and did Elune's grace and fought Omen up in Moonglade. and then I did a little bit of visiting the elders.

The next day after work I come home and find the most beautiful and wonderful Mel has done all the hard work and had visited every elder with Aunt Pol in both kingdoms, including the capital cities of the alliance (even though she hates PVP). I was so happy and impressed! - then she even suggests that we do the Northrend Dungeons together . Could my day get any better?

When we are about to start we notice Prospero and Kallisto are online and ask them if the would like to come along and visit all the elders in the dungeons. They say "sure but we are only 83 and we have never done that content ".

No worries! So off we go with 2 death knights, a druid and a mage. We not only did almost all the dungeon elders but also completed the dungeons as well. So we have achievements popping all over the place. We get everything done with the dungeons except halls of stone and agreed to do that tomorrow .

So we log on the next day discover Prospero and Kallisto have done everything except HOS and off we go and do it. Achievements pop and everyone is happy.

Well, with that out of the way, what do we do next? In our infinite wisdom we chose Kara and off we go.

We discuss what happens with loot rules. The decision is if it looks pretty on your toon roll need, otherwise roll greed .

Strategy is ... one of the DKs will run up and punch them in the nose and we see what happens next.

With this in mind and no idea of anything in Kara off we go . Every room we enter one DK collects the trash from one wall the other DK the other wall they meet in the middle and everyone nukes the lot - the Druid healing as necessary. This works really really well until we get to the room with a dragon in it. The dragon has intersecting beams of light and heals itself! Well we make it but only just and elation on vent is deafening.

Next is the Chess game. We have no idea what to do here so we wing it and die a few times. Mel needs to go and do real life things and our son steps in.

Well we die the first time with him and then we go for one last try. I jump on a pawn and promptly die and then my son said
"jump on the king and keep your hots up and Spam”

I have no idea what he just said so he translates it into Dad speak . . .
“Click on that” (points at screen )
“Watch those 2 boxes on your screen and they go grey click on the number 3 or 4 on the keyboard.”

So as instructed I watch the numbers and I have no idea if I helped or not but we won the fight. Time for the last boss. The fight starts and my health goes down to 1 and 2 of the party are dead but I can keep shooting. With everyone's help he soon dies and we have completed Kara.

We had a wonderful time and would love to thank Prospero and Kallisto for the fun

Hello CAW crew!

Just an email this week I'm afraid. Saulius is finally 85! Feels like it was a long time coming! I wanted to thank the guildies who offered to help me out with gear and enchants after I dinged. You know who you are! (that's a polite way of saying I cant quite remember who it was). I spent most of the gold I had, buying the craftable pvp gear, and then did a whole load of battlegrounds. Ive managed to earn enough honor points for 5 purple PVP items, including the two season 10 fist weapons. I was also able to do the new dragon soul instances, they were surprisingly easy, unfortunately I didn't get any good drops. My plan now is to work on leveling all my professions. I'm not looking forward to leveling fishing!

That's all for now, just a short one this week but I'm always listening! ;)

Hi Ctrl Alt wow folks.

Mcwild here again grizli is my main at lvl 85 with grotsnik at lvl 85 too and many many alts from lvl 12 to 70's

my wife (sam)and family also play too with there own accounts we have 10 accounts at last count between 6 of us.

after awhile away from the game ( i know it was wrong and have chastised myself ) i was catching up with back episodes of yourselves and the BOE gang on the way home and just new i had to convince my wife it was a good idea to start playing again.

well when i got home had some food etc. i approached the subject expecting no no and do you have to.

but shock Sam said she had been thinking the same only problem would be what accounts to reactivate..

now after a 3 months back in the game i have another lvl 85 a druid called Milkee while Sam is levelling yet another priest and warlock.

we have started new alts with one of our daughters and her boyfriend they are now in the mid lvl 20'

our grandson who is 6 this year has also gotten into WOW creating his own characters and having a go at questing. He always chooses a blood elf female for everything. so far he has levelled a hunter to lvl 16 on his own mostly too.

i work 12 hour days so my time in game is limited to an hour a night and my days off.

at moment i have gone back to my first ever character an orc rogue that got left at lvl 42. decked out with heirlooms he is now level 68 and on his way to new lands.

well keep the shows coming they make my journey to and from work easier.

Hello CAW. I guess I should stop being the creppy guy that never talks but is always around for some reason. I started playing WoW in vanilla as a human priest. When BC came out I thought I would try something different and rolled the hunter (Reltar) that became my main. I started doing a lot of pvp and figured the best way to learn how to counter other classes would be to play them. Rolling 1 of every class had an unintended side effect and I became an altoholic.

I spent the 1st 6 years playing alone, then last summer moved over to Earthen Ring to join AIE. My 1st few weeks in the new guild were great. Then I came across the loot 100,000 gold "Got My Mind On My Money" achievement. It forced me to go back to playing alone. My weeks for the past few months consisted of soloing old raids. Clearing MC, AQ20 (guess it's AQ10 now), 5/9 AQ40, 5/6 SSC, the Plague Quater and Sapphiron in Naxx, 3/4 TK, the 1st 3 bosses of BT and the 1st boss of Battle for Mt. Hyjal. I stopped doing Kara, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair when they nerfed the gold dropped. While running the old raids I would DE the greens and send the mats and cloth to an AH toon that racked up 180K gold in about 5 months.

I finially finished the achievement a few weeks before 4.3. Since then my WoW time has freed up. I now run the LFR and 4 of the new 5-mans to cap valor each week. I passed 10K quest completed this week and now will have to find a new goal to last until MoP. I may try to get the "100,000 Honorable Kills" achievement but I can usually only grind a couple thousand kills out a week before burning out on pvp.

Guess thats enough talking for this year. Keep up the great work and have fun.

ps: I have a level 50 bounty hunter in swtor (pronounced snore) but I have stopped playing for now. I'll give Bioware a few month's to work out the bug's before giving it another try.

Just Another Week

Hola CAW Crew!

I have great news! Kithore's rims turned out just fine. After dropping his whole chassie on the ground, the rims were miraculously unscathed.

Kithore has been running a few heroics this week - the new ones have been interesting, but I'm not sure he likes them all that much. He did love, however, running with the guildies, and getting an achievement or two with them. He mentioned how much nicer it was to run with people who were just having run, rather than passing around blame for every little mistake. He liked it much better than running with the PUGs he's been picking up lately. They've had some really weird speedy tanks who don't pay a lick of attention to what is going on, and that makes it hard for everyone. Lots of wipes, lots of blaming, and lots of dropping groups. Oy. I can't imagine what the PUG raids are like!

I have been resting after my cleaning frenzie last weekend. I worked one of my friends to death (luckily, she still likes me) and did some either very belated or very early spring cleaning. This week at work has also been a lot tiring - I know it doesn't sound like all that much to have a few weeks off for Christmas, but the first full week back completely exhausted me, and I have been burying my exhaustion in mind-numbing Ugly Betty episodes on Netflix. I hate to admit it - or maybe I really don't mind - but I like that show a lot. I'm told the show is no longer airing, so I hope Netflix has all of the seasons. I haven't forgotten about WoW at all, and especially have not forgotten about Claypidgin (patpatpat). I think we all know how I get during the school year. Sometimes the energy just isn't there, but I will always be around! I always come back. If anyone wants to run anything, let me know! I'll make it as long as I'm not working at the time. Or sleeping. Sleep is important right now.

Well, we hope Jeppy is feeling much better, and that he will return to both the gaming world and the podcast soon.

Hello darlings! Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and She-Who-Must-Be-Obey'ds *sigh* El Jeppy!! And my fellow listeners! Happy New Year!!!!!!! I hope you're all ready for the great zombie apocalypse this year because that's what my daughter tells me is going to happen. Wrath of the Lich King anyone??? I told her that us WoW'ers WILL be prepared because we've already experienced it... hehehee... ;) Anywho, I just wanted to let you know real quick what I've been up to. I always underestimate how busy I'll be in December what with the holidays and all, and this year was no exception. The regular gift buying/wrapping/giving and smattering of volunteering I always do during the holidays were bad enough, but through SWTOR on top of it, and I was super busy! That's right...Ogre got me sweater for a giftie and holy cats! I had no idea how into it I would be! Everything else has suffered for it too...my WoW playing has been nil, as well as my Rifting...even my Sims Social has been on the back burner! My house must be a complete disaster area by this point... <=( I'm sure I'll get back to it eventually, but for now all I wanna do is enjoy being one with the Force... hehehe. Well, except for this past weekend when Tabitha drug me away from my keyboard to be a ghost hunter! Lol! She joined a local ghost hunting group called GARP and I got to go with her on her first ghost hunting adventure. It was fun, but I didn't see any darn ghosts. I did see a lot of dirt, broken windows, junk and rat poop though. Yuck! Ghost hunting can be disgusting business, especially in old, abandoned hotels. The other thing I discovered is that I'm too old to ghost hunt. Or too spoiled, I'm not quite sure which, but staying up until 5am after working all week is a drag, especially when you spend it freezing to death and wondering why you're voluntarily standing in the nastiest, dirtiest, creepiest places you can find just waiting for something scary to happen. I'd much rather be able to kill the ghosts I find down in Auberdine, thank you very much. hehehee.

Okay, I gotta go to work now...so...it's literally off to the dungeons with me!

Congratulations and thank you Aprillian for 5 years of CAW. It's
great to have all of JAVA back.

I had a wonderful holiday spending a lot of time with my wife and daughter.

My raid team continues to progress nicely in Dragon Soul. Currently
we are 6 of 8 in normal progression almost getting the Spine of
Deathwing down last week. This is a cool fight that many will have
done in LFR. It is of course a bit more difficult in normal mode.
The raid is on the dragon's back and you are peeling off armored
plates so Thrall can blast him out of the sky. In normal mode there
are more adds and you have to keep balanced on Deathwing's back or he
will roll over and wipe the raid. However when the adds become too
numerous the raid has to stack up in the fire, anchoring them to
Deathwing, and force him to roll dumping the adds. The fight requires
good raid coordination and very good healers.

BrewDawg is sitting at a ilvl 388 and only needs a leg or shoulder
token to get his 4 piece bonus. If y'all want to see Brewdawg and his
team in actions go over to converttoraid.com and click on the video
section. Our raid leader is putting together Dragon Soul guide videos
using our team's kills. At last check he had the first 4 bosses
posted.

I have an add-on tip. I highly suggest everyone run GTFO. It's a
very simple add-on that sounds an alarm whenever you are "standing in
the fire." With lots of spell effects going off it can be difficult
to see the "stupid" GTFO helps keep you out of preventable damage.

My time in WoW is a bit limited at the moment. I log in Tuesday
nights to do both LFR's, raid on Friday night and then maybe a bit on
Saturday to get valor capped if we extended the raid. The rest of my
gamming time has been spent in a galaxy far far away....

Speaking of places a long time ago... BrewDawg in ToR is a hard
charging dark side human Bounty Hunter who much rather bring them back
dead than alive. Heads are much easier to transport. He will be
hitting level 30 soon. My altoholic ways continue. I have a light
side Pure-Blood Sith Warrior and a light side Criss Imperial Agent. I
also have a Sith Sorcerer he's a Twi'lek, fat, pink and Fabulous.
He's also very evil. All are between level 10 to 15. I'm trying to
stay focused on the Bounty Hunter and only play my alts when I run out
of rested XP.

I'm enjoying the game-play mechanics and main story line. However
there are many things not to like about the game. Chiefly they involve
travel and getting around the Galaxy. Lots of load screens and travel
time.

Hello again!

Whitemara here and I have to say listening to your latest offering I was surprised when I heard the text of my last communique being read in a podcast! Pleasantly surprised at the least. :)

Anyhow, I wanted to drop a line and say thank you for considering my musing about the use of V/r and to let Ashayo know that his quest for Loremaster has inspired me to embark on a similar journey, with a more Undead Shadow Priest sort of flavor.

Oh and by the way, I picked up the Fox Kit pet the other day on my Druid. So keep on trying Vrishna! Haha

So I still have no internet to talk of besides macca's and a local internet cafe. Both of which have their limitation still suffering my WoW and CAW withdrawals. But on the plus side I am now closer to the east coast, the beach swimming on hot days in the sea. I have settled in well with the new job a place of good food and better coffee.

Somehow, he forgot to put the extra bouncy tires on the rims, and when he went to use his hydros, the car went splat!

Anyway, not much has happened here since last Wednesday. We have both played a little bit, but hope to spend more time in game this week.

I'm ready to do another RAF, but both Battlenet accounts are full. Created a new account and then called Blizz and transferred "games" from both old accounts

Logged into Auruk to do the Kaluak Fishing quest on Sunday and then realized I was a day late. On my way back to Ironforge from Dal to turn in the Greench quest, I noticed a quest for me in the mages quarters in SW.

Got 200 TB thingies

Burning Steppes - Seemed to spend alot of time here, mainly because there is sooooo much mithril. Couldn't take 10 steps without tripping over 2 spawn points! Need mithril? Head to BS for sure! What's even better is that you spend quite a few quests in disguise, so can wander freely through normally enemy mobs. There are elementals here that give rep with the Hydraxian Waterlords! The old rep you had to grind for Molten Core ; didn't think they even existed any more.

Alliance can get a firefly pet from the quest SEVEN! YUP! at Morgans' Vigil! Finished 4% into 59.

Got a (one way) rocket ride from Burning Steppes down to Swamp of Sorrows to the new goblin town Bogpaddle.

Found a herb that I'd never seen before in SoS - sorrowmoss ; either that, or I completely forgot about it. I used to herb farm in SoS alot. The storyline, as far as I recall, is completely new in SoS. While it's very linear, it's quite enjoyable. You get to venture into the outer caves of ST to help the green dragonflight. And then finishes by returning to horde vs alliance theme. Finished 29% into 60, and while there was more quests to do, I moved on.

Ungoro ; can't work out why they moved Marshall's refuge - possibly just to be more central. Certainly easier to do the Ringo escort quest. Sad they removed the Linken quest chain - Blazerunner is now just the second in a short chain to kill elementals, and he's now a pushover.

Was 10 quests into the zone before I remembered I could fly!

King Mosh is now a rare mob ; sweet revenge!

A-Me-01 is outside now, and doesn't need a mithril casing. woot!

Finished the 41 quests 13% into 61, but had to follow the pylon chain ; it opens gradually now and wanted to see if you still got to combine the crystals. Quite a different result, and worth doing...

Winterspring starts quite differently. The feeder quest isn't even to Everlook - it's to the frozen lake, Lake Kel'theril

Noticed that there seems to be alot more thorium nodes in Winterspring - and quite a few less in Ungoro crater. Soon figured out why - the bridge over Frostwhisper Gorge is no more. Darkwhisper Gorge used to be an area teeming with Rich Thorium veins, but it's now a part of Mount Hyjal and completely re-landscaped. Even the little cave with the imp that sold Gromsblood.

Winterspring has what I'd consider the latest Nesingwary quest - you gotta kill 15 bears, 15 owls, 15 frostsaber's and collect 40 eggs. But all for a better cause than just killing - the goblins are smoking the meat. mmmmmmmmmmmmm, BBQ Sadly, this was promptly followed up by quests for 15 bigger bears, 15 bigger owls and 15 bigger frostsabers!

Got my Winterspring cub and started doing the dailies ; this is the equivalent of the Horde raptor mount in Ungoro.

Finished 13% into 62

Raiding

- LFR on Jekle and won tier shoulders - But they are i384 and he already has i391 from heroic firelands raids. So not an upgrade until I get another peice for set bonus.

- Queued for Fall of Deathwing, but fight was in progress, so I couldn't zone in. Fight finished and I got 250 valor points for standing in Org! Queued again and killed deathwing - and won an awesome healing dagger with a 200 roll

Dear CAW,

Woot! Finally some time to write a letter. Maybe, I’ll disguise who wrote this letter by changing the font.

The Darkmoon Faire, I have to say I was excited. Not only for the new content but the others appeared to not be aware. Yes, the family guild has lots of sibling rivalry. Muggleton is the raider, tank, and instance leader. He gets to see lots of end game content. Huckleberry is the achievement freak. Slayed gets easily annoyed and entertains us with his antics, mutters, and key board pounding. The rest of us just follow along and enjoy the ride.

One time, Slayed is all upset about a quest. He can’t figure out where the quest is located or which item is for the quest. We can hear the mutters getting louder. The key board is taking a beating. There always seems to be that one person who gets frustrated so easily. We are all chuckling without hiding it, we’ve heard these sounds and words many times.

Then a loud “THERE, I FIXED IT!”

All is quiet just for a moment. Huckleberry speaks up in a cautious manner, “What did you do?”

In a stern monotone voice Slayed replies, “I deleted all my quests.”

Then we all burst out laughing. Now, whenever Slayed starts acting up or complains about anything, we tell him to fix it by deleting all his quests.

So back to the Darkmoon Faire, I found the portal in Mulgore without much trouble. I think a fair announcer in Orgrimmar tells you to see a named mage in Thunderbluff, who then ports you down to a portal in Mulgore. Meanwhile, I’m chatting away in /guild asking about the Faire with no replies. I thought they would all be there by now. I open the social window and notice Muggleton and Huckleberry are in battlegrounds and Dinglydell is off picking flowers as usual.

I pop through the portal and shhhing, an achievement labeled “Come One, Come All” lights up. The view is a dark environment with dark leafless trees, and a path with big goblin style, red, gesturing, arrows. I move along the path and find a place with less trees and look beyond a cliff of rounded dark stone onto tent tops and fireworks in the distance. Several players mount up and whoosh by me. The other brothers finally take notice and guild chat comes alive.

“Where’s the new Faire?”

“What’s that achievement for?”

“How do you get there?”

Yea, the best way to get their attention is to do something or gain something they don’t have. While replying to their questions my own anticipation is increasing. More players are porting in and running by me. I start typing back.

“Just go to the old fair location in Mulgore.”

“It’s like a whole new town.”

“Just follow the obvious signs down the path once through the portal. I’m just gunna fly down there.”

There’s this constant competitive rivalry between us brothers, to be the first or be the best or the fastest or have the most. Knowing them, I also know they are on there way to beat me at anything they can. I have to move fast now. I mount up and jump off the edge to fly down and... Oh, Oh, nose dive.

I run back from the graveyard and see a second skeleton; apparently someone had the same idea. I start typing: “/guild don’t jump off the cliff, you cant fly…” and boom before I press enter a third person lands at my feet. I watch the body dissolve into a skeleton.

Suddenly a ghost runs up from behind me stops and turns to face me. We are standing toe to toe and he waves. It’s Slayed.

He messages in guild chat, “I thought you said we could fly.”

I’m thinking to myself, does he not see the other skeletons? Why would I wander out of the carnival to come stand over here by the cliff? Has he not figured out that I too have died by jumping off the path?

A zinger comes to mind and I type back, “If you had deleted all your quests you would have been light enough to fly.”

END of Story

The achievement “Into the Wild Blue Yonder” is for expert riding not for learning to fly. Strange! A special thanks to Moonah because now I can fly.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, CAW crew! I hope this email finds you doing well. I thought I would touch base briefly before heading off to the Land of No Internet (gasp!). Also known as my in-laws' house, where we will be forced to look at each other and to talk to each other, perhaps even play non-video based games with each other. It's like heading into the dark ages a.k.a. the early 80s, except they do have a remote for watching cable TV--no twisting dials and adjusting antennae for them!

Most exciting WoW news not mentioned in the audio submission? I got my fossilized raptor mount and hit 525 in archaeology this week! Also, I finally caught the winter squid fishing off the coast of Azshara. It's only available until sometime in March. If anyone is going for ocean limnologist, you might want to go grab it while you can. Once it's gone, it will be six months before its return!

Good morning Caw crew, hope you're all well and happy and enjoying the new year.

Our DK's, Prospero and Kallisto, have reached level 82 and are almost finished the quests on Mount Hyjal. For the last two days they have been fishing and doing the daily quests at the Darkmoon Faire.

A few nights ago we noticed that the guild achievement "Crittergeddon" was only 2000 away from being finished. So we dashed off to the spider cave in the Plaguelands and in a little over an hour killed the required amount of bugs. (not to worry Verishna, no bunnies were sacrificed to reach our goal although our boots were completely covered in bug goop and had to be tossed out)

My no quest, no kill toon was partied up with a higher level toon so he could be summoned to Hillsbrad. Wile there the higher level toon killed a mob before I could disband the party. I was wondering does the kill from the higher toon count against my lower level no kill toon. If it does I'll need to start him all over again. Does anyone know how I can check this.

Hello all!

I have enjoyed listening to the show for some time and wanted to leave a casual observation regarding the use of the acronym V/r (or some other variation) at the conclusion of correspondence.

Aprillian I believe noted the correct interpretation of the acronym and this closing is most often used in professional correspondence from subordinate to superior and occasionally from peer to peer.

Being a veteran (Go Navy!) I always closed any correspondence I made with the statement "Very respectfully". Especially when that correspondence was intent on asking for time off or to grant one of my shipmates some well deserved shore leave.

Anywho, keep up the great work and I always anticipate your next offering.

Mostly Opening presents.

Feralas starts off with a common theme - mysterious corruption in the wildlife that you have to help repair.

We then find out that Feathermoon Stronghold was moved to the mainland because of the Naga infestation - I just assumed the cataclysm caused the move. How lame of them!

Also picked up a quest for Scarlet Monestary here - doesn't seem a place further away if they tried!

Took me a while to figure out how to get out to Sardor Isle - Quest says to find "Ancient of War on the shoreline" - I was looking for a boat. It's a big tree dude.

Found the 3rd OOX-22/FE mechanical chicken quest on a Naga out on the island

The "isle" of dread is no more - it sunk! But you can still "discover it"

The increased number of hubs in the zone is great - I used to loathe the running back and forth in the original content.

Get to fight Cho'gall in the Dire Maul arena!

Finished 25% into 54

Heading to the Badlands.

Some cool quests in there - a vehicle quest to fight off waves of troggs. A puzzle quest where you have to rotate statues to line them up across a room. Also a quest where three dwarves follow you around - Eric, Baelog and Olaf, and you use their abilities to fight mobs

The chain ends with a trinket that summons a whelp to fight with you every 10 mins

Finished 100% into 54 (377 exp to ding!)

Of course, had to stick around to do "The day Deathwing came" chain.

Mosied on down to Searing Gorge to do the 35 quests there. Some of the old quests are still there, but with a twist. An Ogre gives you a sub-quest and shows you how to get the quest items without killing. Also, there's a quest to collect bullets, and it counts when you get shot! Quite humorous! Finished 59% into 56

Felwood next cab off the rank. So much better flow now with more quest hubs; used to be such a drag running back and forth to either the top or bottom quest hub. Get to see Illidan and Arthas battle - not sure if that is new in Cataclysm? Finished 40% into 57

Heroics

- Ran Heroic: End Time, and even though they complained about my low dps, didn't kick me. Got new wand, robe and cowl. Woot!! i352 to i362 in one run

- Then spent justice points to get i378 tier legs and gloves - jumped i365

DPS went from 8500 to over 14000 (and still not hit capped)

- Ran Well of Eternity and got new trinket and new belt - now i367. Close to being hit capped .74%

- Ran Hour of Twilight with a group where I felt very noobish - they were all doing 26k, including the tank! But got two ring upgrades , now i368 , and finally hit capped

Bangobingo Update #9

Hey CAW Crew!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and the holiday events in game. RL has been quite hectic but I am finally on a two week vacation and able to log in more regularly.

I have been chugging away at the winter’s veil achievements on Bangobingo and just need one more to complete the meta and get the title. Yay! I am still dreading children’s week and the School of Hard Knocks as I am not very good at PvP. Otherwise I have been steadily gearing out my main on Nagrand, Derkdiggler, and have risen his iLevel to just over 370 with gear from the new 5-mans. Just need to switch out that pesky helm and should be good to go with that toon. I was able to get my mage, Readytogogo, to level 70 and can focus more on her leveling now that the XP required in Northrend is decreased.

Now for the question. This one is directed toward Aprillian. I was wondering if you had tried transferring heirlooms through the real ID dungeon method you used to grant levels across realms? Not sure if you mentioned trying this or not but thought it may be a way to transfer the heirlooms across multiple accounts on the same battle.net account.

Well just the quick update for now and I look forward to seeing you all in game!

Mel and 42 here again .

We have been very busy in the last few weeks but were delighted to hear Shandraya's emails. Well delighted is just one way to put ( Mel really did tear up because Shandreya had put so much thought into it) but also proud that she cared enough about the things that give us pleasure to bravely send in her first email to a podcast ever
On the game front we have been doing the Christmas Greench boss many many times ( we now have 16 level 85's ) so it does take a bit of time . I think only one toon got the lump of coal .

Also a big thank you to Tinokk for allowing us to join him on the last 3 bosses in AQ40 . The 3 of us had a ball . We got bug mounts . No red ones for us though , super uber gear for level 60 (Shame we were 85 ) and a few good laughs. It is such a long instance and we were totally lost and getting eaten by the last boss was lots of fun .

Thank you all for a very enjoyable podcast and back to the 300 quests we have to do to open all the presents for ALL our toons

The Necro's had a great week in WOW with their Death Nights dinging level 80 and getting their professions, enchanting and tailoring, up to grandmaster level.

The main focus for the DK's next week will be reaching exalted status with the Horde Expedition so they can get the Mechano-Hog schematic.

When the new Mists of Pandaria drops the DK's will need some cool ground rides as flying will most likely not be available for the first few levels of the expansion.

Any advice regarding rep grinding would be well appreciated.

Accidentally put Mechanohog on AH for 2k, Dartinus bought it, so I sent him this letter:

He wrote me back that he had already used the hog, he was happy at his good fortune and that he would cooperate if I wanted to petition Blizzard for it's return. I ended up meeting him in Dalaran and got a ride on his new Mechanohog.

He was very sweet and honest and though I was out 14k of mats, it felt good to help someone have a nice Christmas.

Hope this finds you all well and sending big Christmas hugs all round - especially to Jeppy hope you're feeling better, sending lots of good vibes your way.

Well it's been crazy busy with me the past few months however I really wanted to get a special Christmas letter in to wish you all a Merry Christmas and thank you all for the wonderful show you do. It's always a thrill to see the episode up and I always get lots of laughs from it :) thank you all again you all rock!

I've been busy doing World Events on various toons. Just got violet proto drake for my DK Leitar & working on Winterveil on others! I also had this crazy notion of doing Loremaster on my priest Atil (inspired by Ashayo) however think I'll slowly work through it - at the moment there's just not enough hours in the day ...

Also I've started playing SWTOR. At first I was running round like a mad woman but I'm slowly getting the swing of it. For me I find it's a nice change to try something a little different.

Anyway enough from me I better get to work!

Just a quick message this week I'm afraid! Christmas time is busy busy! Also I can be lazy lazy! ;)

Happy anniversary Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and Jeppy,

Bidkar and Splashy present and accounted for. Sorry I haven't written in much, but I can't miss the anniversary, so here is my missive.

Since the last time I had written in, I went in a random to fight Ahune on the last day of Midsummer's Fire Festival. (It is rather embarrassing how long it's been since I wrote) and it was a successful encounter. The fight wasn't bad at all and it was fun! It was the first time I had ever been in a random. I generally eschew grouping up with other people or playing with other people. It makes me nervous and I make tons of mistakes. Anyway, I thought to myself "Self, that wasn't too bad at all, you should go in and do the next holiday boss random and give it a go."

Anyway, Hallow's End rolls around and I went in to fight the Headless Horseman on Jehus the mage. The fight went quite well and I had more fun. I ran the encounter on Jehus until I had the rings, which were an upgrade for me. Then I took all my other ranged toons through and did the same for them. I didn't take my melee through until the last day. I don't think I'm very good at the melee fighting, it just seems like I mash the keys until something dies. I found out I liked playing my melee guys fighting the Horseman and now I wish I had taken them in every day like I did my casters, but oh well, lesson partially learned. All 8 of my level 85 toon picked up the ring upgrades. Bidkar the mage got the sword and helm in the same bag. I de'd the helm and kept the sword. Allerea the warlock received the Horseman's Mount which is awesome. Now I'm trying to work up the courage to to a 5 man dungeon, still pondering it. I probably should, but I do know me and I probably won't. Writing in may publicly shame me enough where as I will now feel obligated to run one.

I recently ran Bidkar solo through some of the Caverns of Time instances. I saved Thrall, which was a ton of fun. I liked going around exploring the old version of Hillsbrad and seeing how it once was before Arthas ruined everything. I helped Medivh open the Dark Portal, once again it was cool to see what the Blasted Lands looked like before they were blasted. The last one I did was the Culling of Stratholme. It was so interesting to see the lore played out in front of me. I had read the books, but to actually be a part of it was great. I tried to go through Azjol Nerub in heroic on Bidkar, but failed. I think I could go through there now I've been thinking about it, but at the time I was frustrated because I couldn't pin down some of the mobs and they webbed me before I could kill them. I hopped on my paladin Jehus and he tore through that place like a knife through water. I went through heroic Old Kingdom next, I didn't make it through there. I think I killed the first boss, some vampire guy, then I got killed by a big spider/bug. I stopped there because I was lazy and didn't want to run through the place to start up again. I like the content I've never seen, I'm don't think I would like to see it over and over again. Seems like it would be boring.

I've been taking 9 of my toons through the Greench every day. I picked up the new pet, Lumpy, on Jehus on Earthen Ring. Other than that, just the various racers and a couple of old Winter's Veil presents. I like how they made the Greench a world boss. It feels a little awkward, but I really like the idea. I'm sure Blizzard will come up with a way to master the concept.

I transmogged a bit of gear. Bidkar is now going about in the Bright cloth set. It's very low level early tailoring cloth set, but I always liked how it looked. I originally had planned to use the Runecloth robe on him, but then I saw someone with the Bright set on and that was that. Bidcar the Winterhoof mage is going about in nice low level green robe and cloak. I transmogged his off hand to the Kobold candle off hand from Westfall. I loved the tooltip on the candle "You took it". Cracks me up every time I see it. Those poor Kobolds.

I started a mage on the Alliance side of Earthen Ring also. I started her there when I first came to the server. I always like to see how the other side lives so I generally start a toon on the opposite faction on all my servers. She's level 38 now. The Alliance on Earthen Ring seem more dedicated to role playing than the Horde. One Sunday I stumbled on a service they have at the Stormwind Cathedral. I stopped and took a seat to watch. It was like watching a play. I've been going back every Sunday to watch. It was very exciting two Sundays ago when one of the group was revealed to be a member of the Twilight's Cult!!!!! They are pros at emotes too. Much "Celestyne frowns slightly as she straightens her robe sleeve" and such.

I started playing LOTRO here and there. I liked it except the gathering and crafting is extremely awkward, but it's free to play so I shall not complain nor bite the hand. I decided to stick with WoW. I didn't try SWTOR simply because I don't care for the Star Wars franchise. Any problems I have had with WoW, boredom and such were all of my own creation. I always get cranky when I feel like I NEED to do something, like the Molten Front, rather than WANT to do it. I find I stay happy in game when I do what pleases me and not what Blizzard wants me to do. Fortunately, Blizzard has made such a rich game I can do what I want to do. I need to remember that sometimes.

I've really enjoyed all the audio submissions and letters on the show. They always make me smile.

I've included codes for the Battlechest and Wrath to give away so someone can dual box, do a RAF or maybe even play the game for the first time! You can decide how you want to give them away. Happy Anniversary!!!!

Special hello to Jeppy. We've missed you! It's not the same without an occasional "That's what she said" or some other Isle of Wight witticism. I am glad you are feeling better to be sure. It is the best Christmas present we can get.

Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and Jeppy happy fifth anniversary!!!! The Necro's have been leveling their DK's through Northrend and have reached level 73. My lovely wife and I decided to get shiny new 21 inch Imacs for xmas and we are now enjoying wow in super wide screen.

Don't tell Santa that we opened them early ;)

The Death Knight duo managed to do the Hellfire Ramparts 5 man by themselves (though the both dyed just as the end boss dyed and it was very dramatic)

Then I got the bright idea to check what her level was and she was just 5 points from mining iron and only needed to smelt some silver ore, which Relaq had.

In gratitude to a guildmate

Hi guys, Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is almost here so I would like to share with you something great that happened last night. After a really crappy double shift I came home and hopped on to WoW so I could decompress. So I'm cleaning out my mailbox and starting the quests in Thrallmar and chatting with guildies when I was whispered by Shalick and invited on a run thru what's that dungeon's name right by there? Whatever that one was (I've only recently tried dungeons and am not good at them. Hopefully practice will improve proficiency), we went, and on heroic no less. I spent my time looting, that is after I figured out that I wasn't high enough level to make an impact on the fight( it was a dew minutes spent spamming keys while thinking "Why do my spells keep missing the target? Lol) and as soon as I realized I was supposed to grab as much loot as I could(sweet boy, that Shalick), I went and aggro'ed a big and nasty, and found myself laying in a heap. With my new friend and our lovely guild perk "bring a guild back to life" I was back in the game, off to robbing the dead once more. Well things don't always run smoothly with me, so while trying to be a greedy cow, Kharma ran up and smacked me. My mouse froze. So here I am, with 1 job to do, and no mouse. My keyboard worked, but I am stuck. What did I do you ask? Well I did what I do best, I started swearing creatively. That didn't work, so I tried to punch buttons hoping to open up chat, to let Shalick know what was going on. When that didn't work I panicked. I restarted the game, found Shalick( did I tell you he was a sweet boy?) who welcomed me back, and finished the dungeon. That's the nicest thing that's ever happened to me in game.
He helped get me to lvl 60 and let me keep all the loot!! How awesome was that? Thanks Shalick for putting up with me. This is the best guild EVER!

Hi Everybody

This is Shandraya. You don't know who I am so let me introduce myself . I am the daughter of Mel and Fortytwo from the night shift.

I am a hunter but on the good guy's side with the alliance but I do play sometimes play on Mum and Dad's toons . I love to play in Battle Grounds and I enjoy organising the correct strategy in the battles . I like to imagine the reaction of the other players in the BG if they were to discover I am only a 14 year old girl and I am telling them what to do and that sometimes we even win because of my advice !!

First I would like to explain social dilemma I have ... I play a computer game that my parents play and My biggest fear is that my Dad will talk WOW with my friends... Well to my story . We were in the car a few weeks ago and Mum was making us all listen to a podcast called Cnt Alt Wow and of course I was not listening. Then I heard Mum and Dad's voice discussing WOW, not in the car , but on the podcast. They were in the part you call the COD piece. MY PARENTS. The embarrassment, the shame .

Well once I recovered my composure I thought I must get my revenge ( in a nice way) for the embarrassment they caused me , because I am their daughter.

This is it. Would you please wish Mel, 42 , your good selves and the other listeners and their children a Merry Christmas and a happy new year from me.

I do love the podcast but please don't let my parents talk again as I can't take any more scares like that.

Bloody good DK fun

Good morning Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and Jeppy, greetings from the other side of the world.

It was great week in WoW for our Death Knights, Prospero and Kallisto. They have been death gripping their way through Outland on a steady rampage toward Northrend. Things were speeding along nicely until... they arrived at the dreaded "Blood Ring" in Nagrand. Since they'd had no trouble with any of the quests or mobs thus far they decided to give it a go. Needless to say they got their belf butts handed to them by the first elite boss. (Hmmmm, maybe they really meant the "5 player suggested" thing this time)

As they were wondering what to do about this a Blood Elf Paladin named Rhin, offered to help them by healing as they bravely battled. Six elite bosses later (and with some help on the last "surprise I can rez myself" boss from Rhins friend Amiss) they completed the quest. Thanks Rhin and Amiss, Its moments like this that make the game so much fun.

The quest reward was the mighty (and very sexy looking) Honed Voidaxe. So with new uber weapons in hand the intrepid pair raced their way to level 67. Tonight we hope to reach level 68 and then on to Northrend where more legendary adventure waits.

Rigarmorty Update for Episode 246

Hi Aprillian, Vrishna, Ashayo & Eljeppy!
Unforunately, I didn't get round to doing an audio this week.
What I've been upto:
I've barely been in Wow this past week though I am keen to crack on with my DK and I want to abandon the quests I have outstanding on my level 72 mage so I can port him to Origammar and pickup the Call To Arms Quest. I've got several Karazahan bits of gear so I might do some transmogging but my evening gaming availability is non-existant at the moment so I'm not able to do any old raids with my EU guildies.
Other than that, I'm late getting Christmas stuff all setup and will be cooking and decorating tonight while your recording.

I'm also up late tonight as I've been invited as a guest on show at 3am GMT which will hopefully go well though it's my first time on a podcast.

I'm on holiday from the 20th and home for 4 days before heading up to Glasgow, Scotland to see the mother-in-law on Christmas Eve so fingers crossed I actually get some Wow time in!

Update from Caoboi and Iceflow

Hi guys!

First of all, we want to say that we hope Jeppy is doing better and we miss him bunches. CAW isn't the same without him.

We are so glad that we are able to send an update with what we have been doing. And I thought I had an update for you last week. Well I'm not sure if that can compare to this week's update!

Last Tuesday, Muerten (aka Prodigalsun) invited Caoboi and I on a LFR run of Dragon Soul and The Fall of Deathwing and we got all of it done within a couple of hours. The content is seriously dumbed down but you still get the achievment. We think it's funny that we beat Deathwing and we haven't even beat Ragnaros yet! Caoboi even got a couple of pieces of gear.! A lot of rogue gear dropped but I had to compete with too many other people and didn't get anything. There were 25 other people, after all. I love that Blizzard is still finding new and fresh ways to present content. I had a blast!

And Muerten even did another favor for me! To start the rogue legendary quest, you have to pickpocket the fourth boss in the new Dragon Soul raid. He was so nice that he let me sub in on his ten man at the fourth boss to pickpocket the boss. Then I started on the quests after the pickpocketing. They actually force you to use your stealth, distract, and sap skills in that one! I got two epic daggers for my trouble but, sadly, the next part of the quests required 333 items that I would have to get my raiding. I've hung up my raiding hat so that's as far as I go.

I've finally realized that the raiding phase for Iceflow is gone so I am no longer a raider. But there is plenty of other content for me to enjoy.

While fishing at the Dark Moon Faire, Iceflow actually fished up the Sea Pony Companion! It only took me about 100 to 150 casts! It's super cute. Caoboi got his as well even though his took about 1000 casts. But he was persistent! I did the dailies as much as I could but I probably won't get all the mounts and pets I want for awhile but I intend to keep at i!

You are a lazy sod for following people to get to the Dark Moon Faire, Aprillian, but it's really cute anyway :)

Iceflow is still plugging away at Tol Barad to get the pet and mount and still at the Argent Crusade trying to get my badges for the mounts. Let's just say it's going to take awhile. But I'm nothing if not persistent.

No audio for another week

Sorry for the lack of audio again but the curse has continued to kick my arse it struck this week in the form of some localised flooding and the loss of four of my brothers cows. Due to road train and rain we are now 4 cows less I recived the info on the place I wanted to rent today also so I can now try and move forward on the gaining of a rental property so I am now closer to the self imposed exile from the game and internet.

SOOOO....I stink...I didn't get my recording done today like I should have and I'm awwwwwyyy... I hope everyone's been having a great time in and out of game over the past week though and I'm uber-excited that Ashayo is back! Woot! We missed you Ashayo! And I hope Jeppy is back this week too...I hate it when he's out sick.

This is going to be a short one...I didn't get to play any WoW last week *sad panda face* I am still sick and slept a LOT over the weekend. I am going to get back on the WoW Sparkly Pony this week though...have to get back to the Firelands! I did get to play some Sims Social though...hehehehe....and I must say, Aprillian, your house is looking FINE! I had to clean your toilet, but it was spotless other than that.

I can't wait to hear this weeks podcast...thank you soooooooo much for doing them for us...I really enjoyed Kurly being on there! It's a lot of fun getting to hear all these new voices...love it.

My Alts and the Nekked Bull Runn

Hello Aprillian, Ashayo, Jeppy and Vrishna: Loving the show, At first I did not like the laid back format of the show.
But after hearing so many winers, I find your show refershing, as you truly love the game as much as I do.

As for how I plaw WOW. (I Do not Raid or PUG Dungons- To many a-holes)
I have about 18-20 alts. across 4 relms My main relm is Lethon.US
My only 85 so far is "Ravenwings" a Nightelf Hunter.

As for my family & WOW.
My wife was on my back alot about how much time I spent playing the game.
Then she Rolled a toon, and needless to say she is getting nearly as meny Alts as I do.
Talk about killing "Wife Aggro"

February 11th is my birthday (#48 thank you vary much) , and I wanted to invite everyone to a party of sorts.

I am on the PVP realm "Lethon" US.
What I would like to do is have as many people as possible to write a Tauren and level it up as far as you can between now and Feb 11 2012

Then we log on about 7:PM Central (Dallas TX time) for an epic Necked Bull run on stormwind city, ending with us showing the King "The BEEF"

We will also need as many horde support members (Tanks DPS & lots of Healers) as we can get to run interference.

My Tauren's name is "Bullshyte" Look for him as I am leveling him up as fast as I can.

This week’s audio may have to be a live recording only as I am honest and I don’t watch my words sorry but yes I am frankly terrified right now and life is taking a new course for me wheatear this is a good or bad one only time will tell. I like to thank everyone involved in getting me to do live recording over the last 12 months or so Juuno, Matt, Kadac and the rest of the awesome people that send in audio that is far and away better than mine I will still try to download and listen to the shows as best I can but after I make the move it’s going to be harder. I will try and stay in contact with twitter and the like but yes my submission will be taking a major down turn as will my gamming but I been promised if I knuckle down and show a wiliness to learn I can move up the food chain in the new job and they say a change is as good as a holiday. We also rolled two new Goblin's, Scribbly, a shammy and Riffrocket, a mage. They are two Goblin brothers who enjoy adventuring for fun and profit and blowing stuff up.

We sent the new Goblins to the Fantastic new Darkmoon Fair Island. That place is so much fun. Riffrocket especially liked the whack a Gnole game.

Scribbly tried his hand at fishing on the docks but did not catch any of the awesome loot that others had been bragging about.

Update for Iceflow and Caoboi

Hey guys!

Guess what! We're playing WoW! We actually got some good time playing on Darkmoon Faire Island. I really loved what they did with a place and it feels very festive. Make sure you go in the back and have a pony ride and you might get a special achievement ;)

I like that people can't troll the gaming areas by running through and the only one I had trouble with was the shooting gallery but that's because I was standing on the counter instead of behind the counter.

I really want the pets they are offering but I know i'm going to have to put in some time to get them!

I actually have prospects for raiding even though my raiding team has broken up. Cao and I will probably fill in for other people.

Iceflow is close to getting her dragon mount from Tol Barad and Iceprayer is steadily questing through Twilight Highlands. I'm a bit worried that I won't get everything done that I want to get done before MoP but I might as well put in a good showing.

Can't wait to see you all in game!

Good Morning my favorite pod-casters, the radiant Aprillian, the dashing Ashayo, the lovable Vrishna and the masterful El Jeppy. I'm being optimistic there and hoping El Jeppy is feeling better and back in the saddle. I'm eternally hopeful that all four of my hosts are present today.

It's been a long time since I've submitted, so it would be impossible to do a complete update on my toon activities, although for a while I had a small WoW break due to work/personal issues. I'm back to playing and enjoying it much more. I've also been doing a little bit of the SWTOR beta though, as well. Lots of room for alts in that game. Maybe someone should do a Ctrl-Alt-SWTOR podcast, nudge, nudge.

In WoW, I'm finally closing in on 85 for my main toon on the Sisters of Elune server. Jaxie replaced Tedrah when I moved her over to Earthen Ring to join CoD and it's been a long haul trying to get Jaxie to 85. She hit 84 this past weekend while doing the Feat of Strength quest to kill 250 mobs for the Darkmoon Faire. So hopefully she'll hit 85 soon and be able to work toward being able to use the raid finder.

Speaking of the raid finder, poor Tedrah (Petrah now, but I just can't stop calling her Tedrah) doesn't have a high enough iScore to use the raid finder so I've got to get some better gear to get in there. Tedrah also needs to work hard at doing the Darkmoon Faire dailies. It will take a while to get the 90 tickets each needed for the new companion pets. I did get the adorable Sea Pony pet fishing off the dock at the Faire and that puts me 5 away from the 150 pet achievement that I'm aiming for. You get a little celestial dragon pet with that achievement.

I've only done one of the new 5 man dungeons. It was fun but confusing at first. I wasn't really sure what to do so thankfully I was in there with friends who had already done it once or I would have been completely lost. Nearra is great at explaining things and it really helps that she is also a hunter.

Don't want to take up too much time, so hopefully I'll be seeing everyone in game soon. Having fun WoWing!

Hi all, it's Lokwyn.
With the release of patch 4.3 I've been spending more time in Azeroth. I was away for a few weeks because I put close to 100 hours into Skyrim. I'm still not close to being done with it, but the new content in WoW has pulled me back in.

Now, It's story time. One evening last week I jumped into one of new 5-mans as my main (Lokwyn, the paladin tank) along with 2 guildies. I've completed a few normal Heroics with him in the past, but by the second boss it was clear that I was in over my head.It is at this point I remembered why I like being in C.O.D. It's the non judgmental, yet overly helpfully people.

Just for reference, I was wearing a range of gear from non epic PVP gloves to some decent tanking epics. Shalick was immediately on the case. He directed me toaskmrrobot.com and talked me through gemming, enchanting, reforging the strange assortment of gear I was wearing. I was stacking stamina, but I should have been stacking mastery. That was awesome, but then he went above and beyond the call of duty and hands me four of the most expensive enchants I've ever seen! Since then I've completed several more heroics and I currently have an average item level of 361. I will be back at attempting the new 5-mans soon enough. If anyone needs a tank just ask.

Hello, CAW crew!

Just wanted to send an overdue email to catch up and give some thanks. In episode 244 you mentioned the EoE run that Dreams put together a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to add my thanks to Dreams for pulling together the run. It was a ton of fun! You gave me too much credit for helping with the fight strat, as it was my first time in EoE since shortly after ICC came out in Wrath. I did my best to help out and I appreciate the kudos but really I did very little. Everyone who was there did an awesome job, the last phase mechanics are tough for any group going through the raid for the first time and actually we wiped way less than I expected to, as I probably wiped dozens of times at level on that phase. I enjoy helping when I can, this guild is full of some of the best people I have had the privilege of gaming with in WoW and the helpfulness and kindness of the guild mates is infectious (in a good way, lol). I also wanted to again thank Ashayo for the embersilk bag that I won on a previous podcast. Can you say you won something when you are the only contestant? LOL, but really thanks again; my baby priest, Solblanco, appreciates the extra bag space. It was great hearing Ashayo on episode 244 and I hope he gets to co-host more again soon. Also, I hope Jeppy is feeling better soon and is back with you by the time you read this. Sending him good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

As for myself in game, I have finally leveled Solrojo to 85! Woohoo! Yes, it's pronounced sole-ro-ho as Vrishna said. I have a running theme with my C.O.D. toons of naming them sun something in Spanish. I have Solrojo which is red sun, Solverde - green sun, Solmuertos - dead sun, etc. Since Grimsun was taken on the ER server, I just used the sun part and added a bit of a twist by using Spanish. So now you know there is method to my naming madness lol. Solrojo is already geared for heroics and is nearly geared for raiding. It is amazing how fast you can gear up now, I think Blizzard has scaled the rate of getting better gear very well as the new raids roll out. Even non-raiding folks can get some pretty awesome gear.

My newest project is Solylluna (sun and moon). He is a tauren druid and I plan to make him a boomkin (hence the sun and moon thing). Here is the twist: I will be leveling him ONLY using herbalism and mining and the exp I get from discovery. No quests, no kills. I am using a few heirlooms (hey, I'm not THAT crazy!), lol. I had a very brief discussion with Dreams in game once about this, and she had mentioned trying it as well, so I hope I'm not stealing an idea (for all I know she has already done this). Anyway... it should be interesting. It will probably take me a long time since this is a side project and I am easily distracted, so wish me luck! :-)

On another note, I have to say the new Darkmoon Fair is sooooooo much better than the old one! I have my Jubling egg and can't wait for it to hatch. I hope to get all the pets and mounts eventually, but that will take quite some time.

That's really about it for my WoW week (month for that matter).

Now, I have a sort of random question for the hosts: To grats, or not to grats? I've heard brief discussions on the podcast about gratsing (is that a word?) and it got me to thinking about the "good ole days" before achievements came into the game (insert "get off my lawn" joke here). Before wrath, the only time I ever saw "Grats!" in gchat was when someone dinged or announced in gchat they have done something great like completing a raid or reaching max level. Then.... Achievements came to the game. Every opened mailbox, every haircut, every silly little things seems to warrant a congratulatory remark from everyone else. This is fine, and I'm all for encouraging others, and I am not complaining because I do it myself. BUT... should we feel guilty if we don't say grats for things like "Shave and a Haircut" or "Can I keep him?" achievements? Also, does using an autograts addon like "Overachiever" mean the same as typing grats out yourself? Do you feel neglected if someone doesn't grats you for minor things? As for myself, I don't really mind people not saying grats to me - for anything really. I also don't like autograts addons much because to me letting an addon do the work means you aren't really paying attention. I do like to say it though - for about anything, lol. I enjoy encouraging people. Sometimes I miss something, and usually for the more minor things I'll say something other than grats, like "Way to open that mailbox! Epic!" or "Gold well spent!" Just wanted to get your opinions, I thought it might make for interesting conversation. :-)

I feel so stupid. I was using my RAF trial soon to hunt wild turkey. And she can't trade them! and I have 60 turkeys on a toon that I can't do anything with. she's not capable of making the turkey dinner and she doesn't have enough money to train. Logged in to emptyUC

Decided that I wanted to experience the other half - so started a loremaster toon on alliance side! No guild perks!

Still doing cat. Gets much easier once you have talent points to retain energy.

Did Darkshore and hit level 25.

Needed gold, so took up mining and herbalism to start with. Herbalism was weird - mostly higher level stuff, and ended up having to go back to Dolonar to level it a bit.

Went back and did Westfall ;only 35 quests there, didn't take long and didn't get much exp at all (all grey). Though the story line of Vanessa VanCleef was good. Same with Loch Modan (45 quests)

Headed off to Bloodmyst Isle and really found myself just rushing through the quests, since they were all grey. Starts off easy enough, pick up 20 quests and run out and do them all. But toward the end, there is so much running back and forth from Blood Watch to the far side of the island, it's clearly just a big time sink. Hit 53/60 and had no more quests. Research showed that I had to go back to Azuremist Isle and do "A small start" to open some more. This causes the quest "Urgent Delivery" to become available from a wandering messenger at Blood watch. Which in turns causes a quest to be in your mailbox - The Bloodcurse Legacy

Additionally hard because some of the end quests are Draenei only!

Finally figured out a quest that required me to know Furbolg - which is a chain in Azuremist Isle as well. Finally completed 65% into 27!

Off to Redridge Mountain. Quite a different story line there nowadays, and some fun quests, including one of the last where you ride a tank - quite gory for WoW I thought. Easy to find 40 quests to complete this zone in quick time, finishing 60% into level 28

Asharmin did hit 84 during Hallows End and got the healing/dps rings. Didn't get any more mounts.

Also levelling LW

Hit 85 and ran first heroic - Throne of the Tides. Only a couple of deaths, and won the chaos orb.

Raiding!

- Heroic Majordomo - 5% and enrage timer on first attempt, 1% on second. Interwebs not nice and D/C'ed 2 members. Slaughter on normal

- Rags one shot

- Heroic Shannox ; no idea what was gonig on with the dogs. lol

- Normal Beth'tilac - new gloves

- Firelands! achievement

- Extra night and got down Heroic Majordomo as a first for the group. Gratz to Blank on finally getting the staff

Pilgrims Bounty

- All my 85's had 350 cooking , except for my shaman, so did PB on him, mainly for the cooking. Can level more even when grey on the turkeys - into the 400's

- Experience points needed in Outlands reduced by 33% !! That's going to make Loremaster more challenging! Flip side, they have made group quests soloable.

- They finally changed the icon of enchant scrolls so they look different to expired AH mail. woot!

Healed heroic End Time instance. Not too bad, Got a nice headpiece (378 to replace 346 blue!) and boots

A truly WoW first week

Hey Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and El Jeppy, what can I say but WoW! Earlier this week the Necronomicon's rolled up some brand new toon's on a brand new realm. It was a little scary wondering off into parts unknown with our lil Warlock and Mage but we had great fun in Deathknell killing drooling zombies, hairy spiders and collecting pelts and bat wings. As we left the zone we contacted the guild channel and in no time at all we were proudly flying the colors of the mighty Clan of Darkness (with a little extra gold in our pockets to boot, thanks Petrah).

We ran, huffing and puffing, all over Brill killing mobs, mining and herbing. Once we reached the magnificent Undercity we joined in the pilgrims bounty celebration, flying back and forth to all the major cities for the various quests. We even had dinner with Goblynn in Thunder Bluff (though we threw way more food than we actually ate).

We managed to complete all the low level bits and acquire several achievements including the hard to get "Terkinator".

We enjoyed the guild chat where we met Fortheheals who generously donated some more gold to our fledgling toons (thanks FTH). On the first day we made it to level 16 and level 22 the next. On day three a fellow guildy named Xcronose, asked if we'd like to accompany him to the Scarlet Monastery wile he did some rep grinding. So the Necro's trundled after the kindly giant Troll DK and tried not to get killed by the mad monks, evil magicians and big mean dogs. We looted our way to level 27 in a matter of a few hours (Thanks Xcronose).

The last thing I did was travel to the barrens to find a leaping hatchling for my lovely wife. She has one on almost every toon and she always calls him Baby David. (from the british TV series Royale Family)

All in all our first week with CoD was awesome and we can't wait to dive into patch 4.3.

I'm sorry, I don't have an audio for you this week, but I HAVE been playing a lot of Wow! I'm in Maine visiting my Mom and brothers and we have been having a blast! Maine is gorgeous...and freezing (right now!) We're waiting for a snow storm that's rolling in...hehehe...I can't wait to see those snow flakes falling down! We're supposed to get a lot of it and I'm going to watch it all from the warmth of the house...hehe. And in the meantime, we're holed up playing some serious WoW. My death knight, Snowraith, is seven bars short of being 85!! (Finally!) I just got done with Uldum..and what a blast that was...so many fun quests! I loved that whole bit with Harrison Jones...hahaha...very fun stuff. SO...this is a short email because I have to get back to it! Almost 85...WOOT!!!!

He used to be a human, but goblins are better. I am a good behaving player who likes to kick other people's butts in pvp. I like to do battlegrounds and dungeons alot. I'm also friendly, though! I also play a level 85 shaman on Korialstrasz, and five other high level characters, plus alot of lower level characters. I've been playing WoW for two and a half years and I really love the game. Dear CAW,

I manage a battle.net account for Grandson number one. Grandson number two, cousin to grandson number one, dropped in for a visit one recent afternoon. Before he and his mother had there coats off he was requesting time on the computer to play Warcraft. Yippeee! I was quite elated and surprised. His Dad takes him golfing. He plays Pop Warner Football and Lacrosse. His sister has been playing soccer for about twelve years and is now planning to play on the college team. It’s a very athletic oriented family. And I detect a slight, looking-down her nose on my daughters face at any mention of video gaming activities. I do try to explain I’m not a video-gamer but they seem to see that as some justification attempt and avoidance of their disapproval. Sometime’s this daughter will give me a good hard look and say “You do know you’re not really an elf don’t you?” I just smile, give a wink and reply, “Are you really sure?” So for Gramps this new warcraft player is a great influential victory.

After they left that evening I remembered I hadn’t seen the older grandson online since August or early September. I called daughter number two. This family environment is almost the opposite of her sister. Plenty of sports but its: fishing, hunting (bows and guns), skiing, camping and All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATVs) for all four family members. And video games galore.

Here’s the phone conversation as I recall it. Again I’ll insert fabricated names.

“Hey, what’s Durdles been up to lately?”

“Nothing special, he’s outside playing right now. Why, what’s going on?”

“I haven’t seen him online for awhile. I’m concerned he’s losing interest in Warcraft.”

“Well their in school now. The rule is do homework first and an early bedtime on school nights. Why? Is Ma worried about him?”

“No not your mother. Me! He seems to be losing interest in Warcraft. He’s too young to have that much homework and what about weekends. I don’t even see him online on weekends.”

“Well it’s a new neighborhood with lots of kids. Durdles and his sister spend lots of time outside playing with the new neighborhood kids. They love it. They were always cooped up in a confined small yard at the old place. They’re fine. What are you worried about?”

I say in a slow, gruff and deliberate voice, “For the third time, because he’s losing interest in Warcraft.”

I pause, and then add “And you girls say I don’t get it. Now who doesn’t get it?”

Hey there ctrlaltwow gang its Necronomicon, from Velen sever U.S. My new wife and I (we just got married this Halloween) play level 85 undead Warlocks (named Necronomicon and Necromantic) as well as a bunch of alts spanning our four WoW accounts. We've been all over Azeroth together and done many of the lower level 5 man dungeons but we have never done any of the dungeon content "at level" and none of the high level dungeons. I've been listening to your podcast for several months now and have really enjoyed it. Hearing you guys talk about your guild and all the crazy fun you have makes us want to roll some new toons and join your merry band of misfits :) If you think you might have some room for a couple of crazy Goblins or Undead-heads (our two favorite races) please let us know and we'll be happy to fill out any necessary online forms or what ever needs doing (we really don't know as this will be our first guild ever)

the Great Big Horrible Disaster!! or was it??

Hi CAW:

I keep hearing about how terrible it is that WoW lost all these millions of subscribers, but for some reason I don't hear much about a biggie at Blizzard saying most of the loses happened in Asian, where players don't actually "subscribe" because the only model available is a "pay per play" model, and what they pay is about 6% of what US-UK-Aussie-Euro players pay.

And while all this was happening, US subs are said to have gone up.

So, I don't know, but it sounds to me like maybe there's a lot of people in the gaming media who are just so eager to be the first person to announce the death of WoW that they just can't be bothered worrying about facts and numbers.

Well, maybe they're looking for a gig on Fox.

Hello Control Alt Wow. I’ve been a listener for over a year now and like to listen to the podcast in the afternoons at work. I play Nite an alliance shaman on the perenolde server. I’ve been meaning to e-mail since blizcon, but hadn’t had the chance to until now. While watching the blizcon panel about Panderia, they talked about the new races that inhabit Panderia. One of them called the Verming, is a race of evil bunny people with a vegitable worship fetish. short and to the point how do you do a RAF?

I did a RAF with my buddy, Activated a brand new account with a copy of wow purchased at the store. signed up for my subscription. WoW GMS say i have only paid for one month. Meaning the store purchased copy does not count towards a paid month???

Just hoping ya'll can explain the process to me.

I thought it was about time to take time to send in another missive, my friends.

Of late I’ve been busy with Wolfbrother, having joined the Jellybeans Raid Team as a stand-by melee-DPSer, I frequently get to join in and play through the Firelands content. I believe they may have defeated Rags once, however I wasn’t there. Everything else in the raid seems to go relatively well, we’re mostly focusing on dealing with Rags.

In other news, I finally started a Worgen for the first time. I have to say I really liked the starting area and quests for the Worgen. I enjoyed the atmosphere and Victorian-style of their homelands. However, as I got to the end of their starting and was deposited on the docks…I started to feel myself let down, thinking, “Now I have to go through all the ‘normal’ stuff and build levels, don’t I? /sigh Ugh.” As a result, I’ve logged in briefly with my Worgen and do the cooking dailies. Wow..those are so easy for the Alliance. I hardly have to go anywhere. Walk a few feet, buy some ingredients, step over to the stove, make bread, step back, turn it in…wow, easy.

In a related note…do we have any Guild getting together on the Alliance side on Earthen Ring?

Multi-boxing question: Has anyone tried to load WoW into your Dropbox, or Dropbox-like client, letting it sync your application and add-ons across multiple machines? If so, has it worked successfully?

I think it’s time for me to get back to the grind, or a Raid, or something.

G’day Aprillian, Ashayo, Vrishna and Jeppy,

I’ve been a listener to Ctrl Alt WoW for some time now, long before episode 148 “ It Sounded Funnier in My Head!”, and I thought it was time to write you again. I have five level 85s, 3 on one account and 2 on a second.

My main has already achieved “What a Long Strange Trip it’s Been” which rewards the Violet Proto-Drake which I believe has a flight speed of 310%. I have made a goal to obtain this drake on my other four level 85s which I started working on during Brewfest. They all have the Brewfest and Hallow’s End requirements marked off so far. During Hallow’s End the most difficult achievement was to “Put Out The Fires” but I found it was possible to solo this in Falconwing Square with some persistence.

I have dabbled in dual boxing but only with two shamans. I’d like to try it with a team of 3 (I actually have a third account which I’ve temporarily frozen), perhaps a druid tank, a shaman healer and one ranged dps. Although my 2 pcs are not that old, my main pc kind of struggles if I attempt to run more than one instance of WoW on it. When you multibox do you run many addons? I usually have to reduce the number of addons to a bare minimum otherwise my gaming experience is too laggy.

I have a small guild on the Thaurissan realm and I’ve been keeping track of a few of the guild achievements. One of which is Critter Killer. I’d like to report that critter kills made by the Creepy Crate obtained during Hallow’s End does indeed count towards the achievement. I have verified this by letting it kill critters when I am the only guild member currently online.

I’ll leave it there for now and look forward to hearing your cheerful voices on the next episode which will no doubt help me through my work day.

This is a late p.s. which I forgot to include in my recent email to you regarding the lower drop rate of The Horseman's Reins from the Hallow's End boss event. My theory is that the drop rate may be quite similar to what it was before but perhaps it seems lower because we only have one chance per day of getting it, whereas prior to the LFG dungeon finder we had 5 chances to get it as each party member could start the event and the mount was a boss drop (not a bag loot which you can only obtain once per day).

Riding Darshi & Nevahoof around Western Plagueland discovered that I had forgotten Darshi was a miner. Darshi sent her herbs to Elyte, who is an Inscriptionist. Milling seems faster.

Thur, got caught in a loop in Western Plaguelands, kept finding gold dots.

Moved on to Burning Steppes and guess what happened? Darshi & Nevahoof Stood in the Fire!

Distracted by SWTOR, more on that later. After testing, deciding to do another RAF

Did the trial for awhile.

Tues, spent time looking through toons on expiring RAF, found beaucoup Heirlooms!

The toons with heirloom also had money and bags. I'm so glad I checked I managed to send mail stuff to other toons. there was also quite a bit of ore and some herbs. I was glad because I didn't want to level something in Matt Smith blacksmithing.
Wasn't quite sure if I wanted to really do an RAF again so soon.
STARTED LOOKING AROUND AND SEEING WHAT I HAD AVAILABLE TO PLAY WITH. Came across a goblin shaman the cutest heirloom headband ever. Decided I would play her. Had to look around to find the other toon that I was running her with. It was a goblin warlock. I forgot how much fun probably starting area was. We got to save the Thrall!

I am planning on transferring Nevahoof to the new R a F account. I feel little bit guilty, because I do have another to April that I will be meeting on that account. She's a level LXV death knight that I transferred to that account in order to make death knight. The question is do I really need another refer a friend account? I suppose I could transfer her to one of my existing accounts and just run the two together. It would save me a lot of hassle and money. With heirlooms, and I found a bunch, I could get really good exp. especially with the upcoming Pilgrims bounty Festival.

Just wanted to say it would be a dream come true to be a stand in on the podcast just to annoy the fluff out of Virshna. But unfortunately, real life gets in the way and my schedule is not regular enough to even consider trying out for it. Man would it be fun though!

I wanted to give thanks for the shout out from Kadak, having been a fan of your submissions it meant a lot.

I also wanted to personally thank Virshna for the funniest thing he has come out with since he started being on the podcast. There I was teaching the orphans to crack open rabbits in search of rare Easter eggs drops, when I hear Mr Bunny Lover say " I am thinking of banning the Creepy Crate". Now that is priceless.. Just so I am clear on this, you want to ban a non-combat pet because it may accidentally kill a critter, WTF (work time fun.. for your pg rating). Now, following that logic we would have to ban Consecration/Thunderstomp/Rain of fire.... and any other AOE spells that may send a bunny prematurely to Wabbit Valhalla. Then you must get rid of buffs that may cause damage ........like say Thorns or Retribution Aura, because everyone knows if you mess with enough of them, they will eventually try and fight back. If you have gone this far, don't forget to get rid of those nasty shield spikes and NEVER eat storm chops (I always eat these when going AFK to see how many smoking bunnie corpses are there when I get back). Since you have gone this far, those nasty swords and sharp pointy arrows must go as well.
Congrats! you now have made the bunnies safe! But how long do you think it will be fun running around in yourElegant Dress -hitting mobs with your spring flowers - and wearing bunny ears? Admit it Girly Man, you should be playing Hello Kitty Adventure Island.....

P.S. This letter was sent with intentions of annoying Virshna, not to make him cry, but of course lots of bunnies were killed, very slowly and painfully in the process.

Firelands on Farm

Howdy hope all are well.
My raid team is clearing Firelands in about 2hrs now and have Heroic Shannox on farm. Currently we are working on Heroic Majordomo. Normal Domo finally dropped boots to complete Brewdawg's t12 set. We are ready and waiting for 4.3.
Speaking of 4.3, with the Arena season ending on 11/28 it will probably drop December 6th or 13th. I suggest not spending any Justice points until the patch unless you are close to hitting the 4000 point cap. Currently Justice points buy 359 gear after 4.3 you will be able to purchase 378 gear with those same justice points.
AIE, that other guild on Earthen Ring, ran a "For the Horde" attack on all the Alliance leaders on Saturday. Brewdawg helped with the tanking duties. We had three raid groups, almost 150 toons. Our Guild Master was in vent with us supplying toons while we pownd the Alliance leaders making it even more special. Because of his new job he is not in-game much it was great to have him with us.

Hey CAW/COD Crew!

I hope all is well with everyone on and off the show, in and out of game. I lament the fact I did not get this in before Veteran's Day as I wanted to send a special shout out to all of our past and present military servicemembers around the globe. As a service member myself I can truly appreciate the dedication and commitment and am thankful to serve alongside my brothers and sisters in arms. I know of at least one other guild member that is a veteran but am hesitant to say Dream's dad without his permission ;P Thus concludes my special thanks to those who serve the people of the United States! (Sorry Jeppy)

In terms of WoW I have been busily farming and crafting a mechano-hog to replenish the coffers on my bank alt, BA Barakus, a Tauren Druid on ER. I was successful in selling my wares and now sit comfortably at approximately 45k gold across all of my toons on this server. I do have a tip for anyone interested in entering the mechano-hog market. I was having trouble getting all of the titanium I needed to craft the 12 titansteel bars for the motorcycle so I enlisted the support of my alchemist, Jimdangle, level 65 belf DK. He was able to transmute the abundant saronite ore I gathered in Icecrown and I was quickly able to create the required titanium for the titansteel. The ore requirement is roughly 580 pieces which seems daunting but is completely manageable as the jagged mountains of Icecrown are all but abandoned these days. Moreover, there are a fair amount of titanium ore nodes that spawn that reduce the amount of saronite required by roughly 16-32 ore per node. so throw on some good wow podcasts and get to farming the saronite until you have the required amount to transumte the titanium you need for the titansteel. You will almost certainly acquire most of the required eternals during your mining and the arctic furs are relatively inexpensive on the AH. So with a total cost to me of approximately 10-12K I was able to sell my mechano-hog for 14K earning a wopping 2-4K profit. It is a quick way to earn some extra cash for flying on my alts and have some fun playing the profession portion of the game.

I have taken a brief heiatus from my Warrior, Bangobingo, in order to run my Alliance Rogue, Derkdiggler, through the molten offensive questline. He was my original main on my old server so I felt I owed it to him to keep him as current with the content as I can. he is through the first 150 Mark turn in but still has a long way to go. Hopefully I can finish up the questline and be prepared for the new content in patch 4.3 and beyond.

My mage, Readytogogo, has been steadily leveling as well and currently sits at level 68, complete with a portal to Shattrath if anyone needs it.

I wanted to say a Huge thank you for the game time I did not know the contest was going to be over so soon and did not think we would stand a chance for the prizes but had to try anyways. My wife is thoroughly happy she was having a wow withdrawal today saying she was really missing her game. As I stated in the email entry she is currently under going radiation treatments for the breast cancer which all signs are showing good that they have it taken care of, she only has until the end of this month to go for the radiation and then she will be just having to go for the normal check ups from time to time.

Hi guys, Moonah here (AKA Tallulah). Yippee!! I Had a few marathon listening sessions and got up to the episode with my submission. I won!! Yay! The fact that i was the only one in the running only very minimally impacts the joy I feel! I would love a free month of play, if its not too late. If it is, I'll just try again some other time. *giggle*. I've been playing in the clan of darkness guild now for a few weeks( time is a slippery thing for me), and am loving every minute of it. I think maybe my sense of humor may not translate to typing, so i hope noone has taken offense at anything i may have typed.... For the record, my first email had a very visible disclaimer, its not my fault you all asked for more information. So, I'm not responsible for the stress my information caused Jeppy. Hopefully someone else will confirm my information, as I have no way to reproduce it without starting up another RaF. Obviously for the grant to 81 to work, both account would have to be full cataclysm accounts, that may be why Jeppy has seen his grayed out. I guess it could also be aone time bug on my account, but I really don't think so.

I've been lurking your podcast for years at this point, soaking up the information, but not participating in the discussion. I really intended to send in the 1 email, and go back to lurking. But its been fun, so I will try to send in regular emails. With that in mind, I thought I should introduce myself.

I'm Aegon of Dawnbringer.

I've been playing WoW since early wrath. I started out as a one toon player, leveling my Paladin to 80, and then started working on making gold so I could get some cool mounts. Around this time I started listening to CaW, and was really intrigued with multiboxing. To really make the gold I wanted, I really needed some alts. I multiboxed a full set of 5 paladins, getting them to 65 for full wrath professions. By the end of wrath I had 8 alchemists churning out epic gems, and on my way to make my 1st 100k gold. If I could have stopped spending money & giving it away, I would have had a lot more.

Going into Cataclysm I really wanted to win the game. But since there is no real winning in WoW, I had to come up with my own definition for Winning. So here it is:

- Level 10 toons to level 85

- Level every profession to 525

- Kill deathwing before the next expansion

- Obtain a legendary weapon while its still relevant

- Obtain 1 million gold.

In my future emails I let you know how I'm doing on my goals, but I've come to the conclusion by the time I win Cataclysm, it will be time to level a Panda.

maximumforce 10th submission - FINALLY!

Hey guys at CAW Crew!

It has been quite a while unfortunately, about 3 months if my math is correct and I'm sorry for ducking out but
things got extremely busy, extremely quickly and I am still quite busy considering I am moving house right now!
Of course though, I always have time for WoW, just not enough to do the Audio Submissions, you'd be surprised the
amount of work I have had to put into it each time!! This submission I'll be attaching quite a few shots of things
that you may be interested in, things have taken quite a turn since I last spoke!

First off, my Hunter main is now an up and ready Raider in a guild that I raid with each Friday. He is currently
at ilvl 374 and the other night achieved my cataclysmically epic achieve that meant I had no item under item level
359 and about 90% of my gear is non-heroic raid quality 378! I am managing to pull 19-21k raiding but I did hit
31k in a heroic today using the same rotation so I'm not too sure what the go is there! And you may notice in the
screenshot I still have my bunny out!

In the alts side of things, I have geared up my Death Knight who can pull 25k easily now and could raid but I don't
want to overextend myself by raiding on two characters at the moment and my Shaman that I was going on about last
time is already level 85 and geared to a reasonable degree. I even managed to get the 1% rare flying mount drop in
Vortex Pinnacle a few weeks ago!! They are both on the backburner now though because I am focusing all my energy
into mastering my Hunter. I also have a level 15 heirloomed Mage that I am planning to max later on but after just
finishing my Shaman, I'm not keen to do it all over again just yet!

As I said, I am sorry I have been so busy. I work 52.5 hours a week, have been doing heaps of planning for this
move that's underway now and am also writing my own Novel that will be going to a Literary Agent for a publisher
scout this week! Little crazy.

Anyway, hope you have all been well, good to see Ctrl Alt Wow is still up and going strong!

Nexbardus Update

Hello all of CoD and CAW,

Well it has been a month since I last sent a submission but October just flew by with Hallow's end and Halloween. My kids were quite excited about Trick or Treating, and our neighborhood is a very good one for lots of candy. Had a lot of fun taking them around, my 6 year old daughter was a Monarch Butterfly, my 10 year old daughter was Princess Leia and my nephew was X-wing Luke Skywalker. And of course the best part is all the candy that I get to eat out of their bags.

Hallow's End was fun, I got The Hallowed title on both Nexbardus of Earthen Ring and Winterhoof. Thanks to all those guildies on both sides that helped with The Masquerade. Kind of disappointing that no Mounts dropped for any of my toons this year but cant complain much since I already have 2 of them. Nexverto on ER got one back when if the mount actually dropped you had to roll on it and another toon of mine on Winterhoof named Vespal (85 Hunter) got one last year when it seemed everyone was getting them. Seems like Blizzard scaled it back this year to make it actually rare again, haven't really heard anyone say they got one this year.

Over on Winterhoof my Hunter Nexbardus got to level 85 a couple weeks ago. I was trying to rush from about 81 to 85 before Hallow's End arrived because I thought you would need to be level 85 to fight the Horseman. I only made it to 84 before Hallow's End but was happy to find that I could still kill the Horseman. Did get about a 1/3 of a level from 84 to 85 just by getting all of the candy buckets. Lately I started doing the Firelands, Therazane and Tol Barad dailies for gear and have since got Exalted with Hyjal and Therazane. I had neglected my Leatherworking for most of my leveling so I farmed Uldaman for Heavy Leather/Heavy Hide and then Whelplings in Badlands for Thick Leather. After that I just bought any extra's that I needed off the AH and currently I am at 490 LW. I been doing a lot of PVP lately, super easy and fun way to gear up.

In your last podcast you were all talking about being able to transfer a guild. Well that is what happened to my other guild Midnight Sun. Admittedly I have been neglecting those toons to play my CAW and CoD toons, but I logged into one a couple days ago to the message that the guild had transferred and that I could transfer my toon if I wanted. The worst part about it is that it was a level 25 guild and now it is back to level 1. It does make the decision of whether to move those toons to CAW very easy though, so I will probably be looking for someone to do some invites soon. I have 3 85's and a couple toons in the 70's in that guild.

On Earthen Ring I haven't done too much lately beyond Hallow's End but I can confirm that the Fox Kit does exist. I had been farming it off and on with my Shaman Nexbardus and had killed countless foxes on Tol Barad. Then randomly one day I think I was waiting to get into the Tol Barad battle and it drops when I was totally not expecting it.

I did create a new Rogue named Redherring that was supposed to be my new bank alt. She is a Blood Elf and I have to admit that now I feel like I want to level her up instead of my female Orc Rogue Sweatness. Maybe Vrishna is on to something...

Anyway, I also signed up for the Annual Pass. It took a couple weeks though because everytime I tried it kept saying No Eligible Accounts. Eventually though Blizzard fixed the system and I was able to sign up. I am gonna be playing WoW for another year at least, you get a cool mount, and I wanted to play Diablo 3 anyway, so no-brainer.

I am also considering trying my hand at sending in an audio submission. Just wondering what format you want them in? Thanks all for your hard work and the great podcast, Nexbardus

How you play WOW

My beautiful wife and I play wow together as a means to basically escape life for a little while, she is currently going through radiation treatments for breast cancer and, wow was a great way for her to escape during the chemo treatments which tended to make her very nauseated and be in pain from the neulasta shots which helped her to make new blood cells.

She is also a pretty big alt player she currently has 10 toons on Maelstrom US which 4 of them are 80 plus, she currently has a 85 pally and 3 70 plus toons on Grizzly Hills US she basically can do the quest chains blind folded LOL not really kidding.

I introduced her to your podcast just last week and she had no idea there was things like that out there for wow besides the podcast that do nothing but pvp instructions and or raid instruction she found your podcast very refreshing and is now looking forward to each new show..

Unfortunately having cancer is not cheap and i had to shut down my account back in march to allow the funds to simply pay for the fuel for the car to get her back and forth to treatments and regular appts. I am not entering my self for the prize i would like to enter my wife in the contest as her game time ends on the 14th of November but I am sure she will be glad to win anything well except the authenticator as we made sure to have one on each of our accounts.

Keep up the awsome work and I look forward to listening to your show each week as i work waving a sign for a gold buying company that says WE BUY GOLD everyday I am out there waving that sign I think I need to get a picture of that for my guild to show them i take wow seriously LOL.

Hello Jeppy, Aprillian, Vrishna (and Ashayo?)

I'v become a huge fan of the podcast since I stumbled onto it on Wowhead.com a couple of weeks ago.

Fortunately the work I do allows me to listen to podcasts while on the job so I'v listened to about 30 hours
worth of Ctrl Alt Wow over the passed fortnight and it's convinced me that I'v been play this game wrong.

I'v been playing WoW, for several years with real life friends who's interest waxes and wanes, most of the
time I'v been guilded on my own. I want that to change - I want to be a part of the special awesome-sauce
that is CTRL ALT WOW and to help add some guild levels and humor to the Winterhoof CAW.

I'v rolled a new gnome mage, Boogasm on Winterhoof. I'd like to thank Yuskia for taking the time to
invite me into the guild - it was kind of electric to talk to a CAW person after weeks of listening to the
pod... And now here I am, in the guild =D

I'm playing from New Zealand, the deepest of down unders, and absolutely chuffed to be able to take
a small part in the celebration of WoW that CTRL ALT WOW is.

Dear CAW,

We have two guilds, one horde and one alliance. Our current guild memberships consist of: my self, my dearest wife, brothers one, two, three and four, a retired uncle, my grandson and a new member, my father. Occasionally, friends or acquaintances of someone in this group join us on a dungeon run.

Dad is 80 years old; doesn’t see well, is on dialysis, and has mobility problems and a host of other typical geriatric issues. He was a big Wizardy fan, if anyone remembers that old floppy disk, game series. He lives near brother four and brother four’s family and he checks in on Dad regularly. Dad and brother four live about 800 miles away from the rest of us. We baby sit Dad via Skype and Warcraft. If the need occurs we call brother four.

Before I tell my next adventure, I’m going to explain a minor change in my story method. I want you to meet Durdles. Durdles will be my main sidekick and if I have need of more names maybe Muggleton, Slayed, and Huckleberry. To give credit, all fine names from classic literature. These characters may also change class, race, gender, or level from episode to episode depending on specifics needed for the narrative. Instead of saying this brother did that or that person did this, I will shield these real people by using fictitious character names. If they hear the story this may ease their embarrassment. There is also the added benefit to myself such as: not earning a cold stare, or a bonk-on-the-head, or the very CRISPY meal I found in the skillet, or the very late birthday card with the already scratched lottery ticket inside! Perhaps even decreasing the number of times my partners get disconnected while we are trying to take on Deth’tilac or Magria. These events, of course, are all coincidental and just my raging imagination, I advise myself. Let’s see if my luck changes during the weeks following the reading of this next adventure and story telling format.

THE STORY

Durdles and I were in Twilight Highlands. Durdles has diligently been repeating the Dragonmaw dailies. I can only hope Durdles saw a piece of gear at the quartermaster he considered as an upgrade. During this time period I had Twilight Highland’s quests already completed and would go fishing or gathering or maybe do a Dragonmaw daily, just to be on a near-by stand-by.

Durdles had an incomplete quest in the deep and long tunnel, Elementium Depths. If I recall correctly, (and this can and is often argued) one needed to move along promptly to avoid respawns. Let the reader keep in mind that “promptly” is a vague and relative term and I relate it in terms of Durdle speeds. This fact stood out in my mind because Durdles was not the kind to move along or even less, prodded along at a good clip. Besides rapid respawning Twilight Miners, their mining picks gave a good wallop; patrolling Depth Overseer ogres; and hungry, metal crunching spinners eating the very nodes we seek as soon as they see us approaching. Being a mage I didn’t want to pull these guys off Durdles and his plate, so I ice lanced until near their 50% health mark. Only ice lance some would question. To them I reply yes. Durdles has chosen the retribution path and I hadn’t thought of Righteous Fury, nor had Durdles. Also, Durdles is often seen just standing there or not facing the enemy, or heard saying “out of mana again whats wrong here.” My typical emphatic reply sounds like “just swing the blankity-blank sword”.

He must have completed the rail cart ride and got caught by surprise when it went over the edge. I wish, I where there to see that reaction, hehehehehe. Another common line of his is “This must be one of those group quests.” It is troublesome if one dies within that the upper section of the tunnel. Unable or unwilling to collect the elementium and disrupt the runes on his own I came along. We finally make it through the mining section beyond the rails and wood ramps into the more cavernous area where twilightist are busy channeling and crystal chunks are scattered about.

So we are deep in the cavern with enough elementium to complete his quest and one or two runes disrupted. Now Durdles dies during an encounter and I survived. I’m not sure of the details except my memory seems to believe there where little white haired gnomes and Durdles spent much time claiming inability to see or target. Whereas, I seem to recall him spending most of the fight time trying to run through a wall. I asked him to run back and I’d keep the area clean of mobs while waiting for him. Several minutes go by and he has yet to return. There is no sign of him on my radar. Having just downed the patrol I believed I had a few safe minutes. I go for a bio and a snack but when I get back, still no Durdles. I had absolutely no desire of any sort to leave our position. I had no inclination to assist him back to the tunnel’s beginning and fight our way back to this location. I was really hoping he would resurrect where he last died. So, I remained patient and quietly remarked I would stay here and wait for him.

I opened the map to check on him, I didn’t see the dot. Did I not see him because he was dead? Naw, it doesn’t work that way, but its times like this when we question our own knowledge of the game.

“How’s it going Durdles,” I say.

He reply’s with “I can’t get up the hill.”

“Return to the graveyard and start over.”

“I’m right next to the graveyard.”

“Well why aren’t you running back?”

“I can’t climb the hill. I don’t have the right shoes.”

“You don’t have the right shoes?”

“I want to put on my mountain climbing shoes but it won’t work. I think I left them in the bank.”

He’s still dead so he didn’t go back to get shoes. Or did he? Usually we get a flying mount when dead in the higher level regions. Or is that just for instances? Now I’m perplexed and questioning myself again. I open the map and zoom out. I spot the dot, right next to Elementium Depths but in Loch Modan. I explain that he can’t change gear items while a ghost. This seemed to quell the mountain boot issue, at least for the moment. I remotely steer him using: the open map, his dot, guessing on the lag, and describing landmarks through Loch Modan and Wetlands and back through Twilight Highlands.

End of Story

I know this letter is quite long but I really wanted to say thanks to Tinokk, DoctorTiger, and Shalick for the Zul’Gurub run. I was able to replace a i333 wand with a new i359 purple wand. Best of all they didn’t go along with the tank and vote to kick me before we even reached the first boss.

Wish the achievement and flight map stayed open at the same time.

Sun, running Aprillian, Tiiaa, Deepril and Prncess around to get Candy baskets. Gorgol Farm, used comments from wowhead.

I got crazy, and decided to build a Mechanog. Tiiaa still needs to level her engineering. I figured I would make one plus and still get XP for it. The hardest thing was finding titansteel bars. I had to buy it from the alliance auction house.

Took Tiiaa & Astarå to AT, xp is good.

I LOVE the Halloween Kitty ! On Karinya and Narinya I got Tricks & Treats's for Kalimdor,Eastern Kingdoms and Northrend. Actually, Virinya hadn't done Northrend either. I got several explorerer achievements on the twins including Grizzly Hills and Howling Fjord. When the heck are we gonna be able to fly in Silvermoon et al. Any plans along those lines ?

Refer a friend, clarification.

Originally I wrote you a nice long email. Explaining the grant a level to 81. But when I read it back to myself it seemed way to many words, to get across a simple point. But I guess I was wrong. So here it goes.

I was running a refer a friend link with a guildy. When we hit 80 I got tired of waiting for him to be on, my new shadow priest was just too much fun. So I started racing ahead. When he got on next he was 80 & I was 83. We were running quests together & of course I was waiting for him a bit, so in my extra time I was fooling around & tried to grant a level. I didn't expect it to work, but it did. We went to 81. I tried 82 also but of course that didn't work.

This made me happy, but also very sad. I had a self refer that was just about to end, I had leveled one toon to 85 on the account over the 90 days. And used my levels to grant 4 level 70's to level 80. I was just so tired of northrend i couldnt do It 4 more times Then I tossed the rest of the available levels on a level 40 warlock.

I could have gone to 81!!!! AND I ended up deleting the warlock to make room on the account. So they were WASTED!!! It almost made my head explode.

Answer about who Bill W is

I’m behind in listening to your podcast and I just listened to episode 237 and I just heard the reference of Bill W. You didn’t seem to know what was meant and while I can’t be 100% sure but usually when someone references “a friend of Bill W”, they are referring to Bill Wilson, who was one of the founders of AA. My father has been clean and sober for over 20 years and frequently speaks to groups and that is something that he sometimes starts out with. That is, asking if there are any friends of Bill W. in the audience.

I just thought I would share that little bit of knowledge with you.

25 Feels Good

Hello CAW crew,

I wanted to give you guys an update. I have been very busy as of late. I really pushed Ardonious in the COD guild to get him exalted, so when we hit 25 I could get my Scorpion mount. I am pleased to say I did both. I hit Exalted about a week before we hit 25. I also got the “Hallowed” achievement on him, but sadley no mount. I think the drop rate was clearly reduced, as I have 10 85’s and ran that every day, which equated to around 100 runs, but no mount, sad…..Which leads me to my next point, I also got the “Hallowed” achievement on all 10 of my 85’s, which happily increased my net worth by some 7k gold ;). I know what your thinking “one of us, one of us”, well yes that’s true and proud to be one, LOL. Oh yeah, I was flying on a taxi on my Mage, and flew through Deathwing’s fire, and it gave me the achievement for that, go figure.

Well that’s all for now, but I wanted to let you guys know, and Aprillian, I am so thankful for all the guildies in COD. They are honestly the best group of folks I have been around since I have been playing this game. A special shout out to Dreams who is always there for anyone who needs a hand, and always with a smile, and to Varishna, who always listens and tries his best to accomidate everyone’s request with a kind word and sincere approach.

I was doing the quest in Mt. Hyjal quest where you have to rescue the 3 injured dear. I got the 3 and stated back when I noticed that they were gone. I went back and got them again and noticed that the Creepy Crate was eating them. That was a pretty funny moment.

Also... What about if the creepy Crate eats a ... bunny... o no!!!

Hello all...tiz yer old buddy Kurly here...still unemployed (7 months as of 11/4) but still plugging away at the job search and trying to keep a positive attitude. Volunteering at the hospital near by didn't yield the results I was hoping for, but, I am still at that and hoping that will change!! Anyway...on to WOW.

As we have done in the past some two guildees and I have rolled 'lowbies" with the plan to go into BG's. We are a Prot Warrior, Subtlety Rogue and a Disc Priest. We have all the heirlooms (minus the helms) and each of us have done research to find consumables and enchantments to make our toons some tough buggers!! We have been having so much fun especially since one of us never wanted to do PVP....he plays the rogue and we have TOTALLY converted him. He is having a great time "Sticking" the enemy and the other two of us get a genuine charge out of how much he is enjoying himself.

Other than that I have been doing the daily bg on my 85's to get conquest points....a slog and a half I might say....and anxiously awaiting 4.3!

Updates and thoughts

Well good day to all the hosts of Ctrl Alt Wow, Virishna, Jeppy, Ahayo, and of course Aprillian

Kona here with some thoughts and ramblings,but first a little updating.

Well after countless Runnings of the Headless horseman and some 52 Sinaster squashlings and 15 unusable hallowed helms Hallows end is over.

Konajoe did get the Horseman's reins Konajace got the Helm and sword and Robusta got the sword plus whatever rings were appropriate. Near the end I made sure that any toons that were close to the tokens needed for the Feline Familiar got what was needed to buy it. My new Druid bank alt Konabank made his way to 33 and visited many many inns to get the tokens needed. I also used the XP gains from the candy buckets to supplement Kuahi to 84 and he was able to run the Horseman just once, but he did get the Dps caster ring that one time. As a side note neither of my kids were lucky enough to get the Horseman's reigns or the Horseman's Helm.

In-between all of the Hallows end stuff I have been running heroic with Konajoe, this was mainly done to get 3 chaos orbs so he could craft the epic mail belt for Robusta.

i have been feeling that Robusta has been quite neglected so to show some love for him new gear was of the highest order, He to has been running many an instance and a few Battlegrounds, those have been quite tough he is still very PvE squishy and under geared. i have my eye on either the PvP gun or the Crafted Extreme Impact hole puncher, Gold or time is what it will take. Druids have also been a focus of my time, Konajohn with leveling his Inscription, now 525, and his enchanting, not so high at the moment 350 right now. Konabank has been doing quite more than just banking, speced as Resto and healing in randoms and battlegrounds also. On the Cairne Realm I have a Druid there that Ian created almost four years ago an I have taken Iczlionn up to level 19 without dying, I am going to see how far I can go before he gets killed, he has no heirlooms so it will be slow going.

So today i encountered an old school "Back in my day" WoW player. It was quite eye opening to hear how someone wants the game to be hard and to have to Grind for everything, Or to better put it, the game is to easy now and that Blizzard is just milking its player base for every dollar they can and not giving enough in return. He thinks that Realm transfers should be free along with faction changes, because "we already pay them enough" You all should have seen his eyes roll back when I mentioned about the Non combat pet changes that will be coming, I think they did a complete360 degrees. Personally I'm not sure if that will be a part of the game for me, but the BEST Parts of this game are not the same for everyone who plays, and that is why the game as a whole IS THE BEST. Play how you want to, I right now Do a few Instances run a lot of BGs and dabble in the AH along with leveling my crafting skills. With that I'm having fun, and as my Playtimes show quite some time involved in this game. If people feel they are not having fun, then stop and find something that is fun, wether it be another game or whatever, To much time is spent nitpicking and griping, life is to short and in the big scheme of things we all need to do things that make us happy. Now stepping off of soap box.

Another Week, Another Thing

Aren't there always just more and more things!

I am starting to feel better - three medications later. Kithore is planning another trip (his last for a while) for next week. Things are finally slowing down here, and will soon be back to "normal", as normal as normal gets in this house, at least. :-)

Kithore was able to get online this week, and run a heroic with some guildies. I was home while he was doing it, though I was very zombie-ish and eventually went to bed while he was still running. He got some lovely greetings when he got online, I believe he even mentioned that Tinock shouted his name, ala Vrishna style.

I haven't been on much, but I am recovering, and should soon be on much more. :-) I have been going to bed earlier, which cuts way down on my WoW time, and now I also have to prepare for some singing next week, which will also cut into my time a bit, though not nearly as much.

We still love you guys tons and lots, and we will be seeing you soon. (And hopefully even sending in an audio!) No, Jeppy, I can't just do one by myself... it wouldn't be the same without Kithore! He IS the one who started it all, after all. Without Kithore, I never would have met any of you.

i have enjoyed your podcast for some time now (6 months so maybe not some time but a short while) and thought that i might contribute my week and some of the interesting parts of it.
Have been thourghly enjoying the Hallows Eve fest while raking in all of the goodies on my main ( lvl 85 combat rogue Dantonsartu - Terokkar) we have been running old content for transmogrification
and lvling guild mates. This week we have started the "for the Alliance" runs and it has been a comedy of errors, picture clowns running in every direction chasing down blood elves only to get stomped by the faction leader

Auction House Undercutting Practice (does not need to be in the podcast)

This is in regards to Vrishna's mention of auction house practices in
Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 238 - Duplicate Item Found. I personally have
hit the 1 million mark between my characters on Sentinels, and my main
income is from buy low and sell "normal" for raw materials (crafted
goods don't sell well). With the embersilk market in general, I set
my price at a flat 80g/stack, and I buy everything below ~60g/stack
(frostweave cloth sells higher). In your scenario, I would be the
person buying your stock. The idea is that you keep the market price
at what you decide should be normal. Some days you won't sell much,
and you'll do a lot of buying. Other days, there won't be anything to
buy and you'll sell through your stock. The main thing, when you're
not selling in one market, you should also have some stuff in another
market. (I have received complaints from guildies that I own 90% of
the auction house (exaggerated but close))

If you want a good market to get into, check out volatiles (these
generally become scarce around patch time and prices go up).
Everybody needs them, and they don't always have supply to meet the
demand. Remember, pick a price that (you think) people are willing to
pay, and stick with it.

awards? So is Ctrl Alt Wow for best live cast. They are an explicit WOW podcast, but the

awards are on a separate page. The awards are only for WOW podcasts, so just reading

through the nominations made me aware of quite a few other feeds for my iTunes list,

although some of the categories are a little scary ( ie Most Profane, Shortest Temper).

Bangobingo Update #6?

Hey CAW/COD Crew,

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday events in and out of game as well as the changing seasons. I have been in a whirlwind of activity at work and at home which is why it has been nearly a month since my last update. I have still been able to sneak online to get some of my weekly/holiday goals accomplished but this is usually all I have time for these days.

On that note I am proud to say I was able to acquire “the hallowed” title for my warrior, Bangobingo, in the first three days of the event. My standing goal is to get all of the titles for each event within the first few days and ultimately get the violet drake next summer. This will be my second toon to take through all of the holiday achievements and the first on this server. I am still chasing the sword for my warrior as it is the only ilvl 365 main hand weapon that will transmog with the spellfire longsword to give me the blue lightsaber look. I know it is an agility weapon and not optimal for a prot warrior but I mostly solo with my prot spec and I don’t mind the less than optimal stats J. I also want to give a shout out to all of the guildies who have grouped with me to do my weekly jaunts into Karazhan for the shield that drops from Nightbane (again for transmog purposes). Wight in particular has helped me on several occasions as well as Keelhaul. Thanks friends!

Now for the question. I know some of the contributors have mentioned their favorite holiday event is hallows eve but what is your favorite holiday event? I can remember doing the first children’s week in BC and having a blast running around with my orphan just for kicks. There was no achievements at that time but it was always fun to pull out the orphans during a kara or dungeon run to do an “orphan pull”.

Well, that is all I have for now and I am trying to work up the nerve for an audio submission one of these days so that maybe coming sometime soon. Best of luck to Varishna with his new work schedule and the Kethors (sp) with their hectic work requirements.

Ran Headless Horseman 6 times with Shalick for the guild achievement. Also, on his advice, tried PAWN. A great ad-on that tells you if items you loot are better than what you have. Also indicates what spec the item is useful for.

Hello Aprillian, Ashayo, El Jeppy and Vrishna!

It has been way too long and I'm sorry for that!
There's lots I've done so let's just get right to it:
I have leveled a priest, Mage, deathknight, Druid and a hunter to 85. Also
leveled my paladin to 70 and a warrior to 82. Maxed leather working,
skinning, mining, jewelcrafting, herbalism, alchemy, engineering,
inscription, tailoring and enchanting, but still working on collecting the
high-level recipes.

The firelands quest progression was just awesome. It was great having old
NPC's from the game help you out in Setherias roost. It gave me a warm fuzzy
feeling inside. Managed to unlock all the vendors on my druid, but haven't
gone back with my other characters. Thinking about collecting all the
tokens needed for my other toons just makes my skin itch.

Recently I've gotten into doing the troll dungeons and they're not as scary
as I thought they would be.. especially as ranged DPS. Still not raiding,
don't even want to try. I started a couple of arena teams, "scaredycats"
and "save the bees", with my brother. The matches are pretty quick and
there's a lot of "get em dude get em!" "ahh they got me, kill that *!@#!"
and of course "damn that rogue." Hehehe.

Speaking of rogues, my brother and I also have two lowbie rogues that we're
dorking about with in battle grounds. We totally see the appeal and laugh
stupidly whenever we sap someone. *bonk*

It's hard to believe we've been playing this game so long and still find so
much to do.

Hi Vrishna, Aprillian, Ashayo and El Jeppy

Holystic here. I thought I’d write in and say a few words about the “Random dungeon runs with RL friends” segment from Episode 236.

Firstly, let me say that my character name is currently pronounced \hō-lis-tik\ just spelled funny, i.e. Holystic ... kind of a play on words.
Although, now that I’ve heard Aprillian and El Jeppy pronounce it Holy-stick I may decide to change that. lol

Vrishna and Aprillian, I want to thank you for letting me listen in on your run through of Dire Maul with Belladora and Draigen. It was very nice of you to encourage me stay around, but had I known you were recording, I would have left immediately. I didn’t say much at the time for several different reasons, 1) I didn’t want my chatter to interfere with the groups instructions in the dungeon run, 2) I was actually doing dungeon runs myself on Winter Hoof leveling up Merlyen my Mage, 3) I was also watching a show on TV that I now forget the name of and 4) my wife was playing WoW on another computer, on a different realm and was asking me questions along the way. This is usually how I WoW. lol

I didn’t know you were recording at first until Aprillian said something about “stopping the recording.” I panicked and was just about to bail from vent when Vrishna said, “Draigen! You expletive, expletive, expletive, expletive, feign death hunter!” What?!

I came to understand that Vrishna was addressing and critiquing his friend Draigen's hunter style of play and while legal in the game of World of Warcraft, Vrishna strongly objected to it. Vrishna also wanted to convey his derision and ire at said hunter for not taking the boss mob’s special delivery ass whipping and subsequent rezz like everyone else. It was at that point that I made the executive decision to remain in vent and voyeuristically enjoy the Dire Maul dungeon run complete with a “Texas sized” smile. I’ve run this particular dungeon many times on various toons over the years and I could tell where you all were in the dungeon just from the chatter generated by attacking the mobs along the way. I did try to make a couple of suggestions about the Captain Kromcrush fight, but you guys had it well in hand. That fight can be one of the most irritating in that dungeon because of all the fears the mobs cast.

By the way, the part you didn’t air on “Ctrl Alt WoW” because of your clean tag was some of the funniest stuff I’ve heard in a long while.

COD Considers the Creepy Crate

Thanks to Vrishna’s generosity my COD guild status was elevated due to four sentences I input during the last State of the Union COD soundbite. (Hint for others to hop into vent next time that happens!)

I am loving the Hallow’s End activities on my lower toons that did not get to RAF, and really want the pet you can buy from the vendor. I was not aware that the new Missing Heirlooms quest line also has a reward of a companion pet; the Creepy Crate. As you do, I had my new pet out to see its animation when I went a little too close to a cockroach in the city.

Hi guys this is 42 from the Night shift, and I hope you are well. In the last podcast you said you liked your friends from down under so I thought I would teach you the lingo and give you a few Aussie terms to get your head around . I sure hope Ashayo was there to explain
You asked about how other couples WOW together and obviously Mel and I WOW together :) We have a few simple rules Rule 1
Mel is always right
Rule 2
If you think that Mel is wrong consult Rule 1
Once this is established the rest is all peachy keen
We tend to like to level together playing similar toons but not the of same class . ie mage/hunter , priest/warlock and so on. Very rarely do we play the same class or armour type at the same time.
If we have nice loot drop that we both need then we tend to " negatively Ninja it” .
I.e. "You take it " , "No, you take It” and so on . Sometimes the conversations can get a little heated especially when one person levels ahead of the other .
Also sometimes my bags can be a little messy and Mel does remind me of my responsibilities but she does help me get organised . This does lead to certain difficult questions, such as what does she mean by?;
"You’re such a hoarder!" and
"Why do you keep food/ water / gear that's 50 levels too low for you ?" .
Mel use to play WOW alone and I was like a number of your listeners whose other half's hated the game. After a long period of a coordinated attack I relented and gave wow a quick try. Well that was back in Burning Crusade and I have never looked back.
In regards to RAF and playing together - we ended up with 11 toons at 80
Some simple RAF rules that worked for us and our play style
· Have a clearly established goal that can be realistically kept – we wanted to get a minimum of two toons each levelled all the way to 80 on Earthen Ring, with the bonus 78 levels ( after boosting the RAFfer to 80.99) being used to help another to 80
· Have some really unrealistic but fun goals- a toon of every class, a set of toons that only dungeon or quest or heal or herb or mine
· Use a spread sheet. We only lost about 4 levels and that was because we did not want to donate to a disposable level 10
· Vary it as much as you can:
o Run in pugs though dungeons - the XP from LFD to dungeon quests is great, but don’t run the same dungeon over and over ,
o Get as many dungeon quests completed from as many different dungeons as you can – even give up the Random dungeon reward to finish a new one ; you level so fast that the gear that drops is a big help in keeping up your gear score if you have no heirlooms
o Do the quests that require 2 or 3 characters to kill elite mobs at level
o Do not do collection quests unless you really enjoy that particular quest or it has a guaranteed drop for each toon from each mob
o If offered (do not ask) take the chance for run-throughs from the wonderful members of COD when offered (and in a dungeon when they say wait here, you really should wait EXACTLY at that spot )
· The last one and most important " kill all bunnies on sight as they taste nice "

Hola CAW Crew!

Another quick update from the Kithores.

We apologize that we are, again, unable to send an audio submission. Kithore has been working very hard, and I have been just a bit ill. He says that it should be only about two more weeks without an audio from us, and after that, we should be able to send one in.

I, admittedly, have done little this week other than popping in and chatting with a few people. I have been checking in periodically, but not playing for any real length of time.

Kithore also has not been able to play. He's been comforting a cranky wife, and working very hard with his... oh, wait.

Kithore, apparently, is willing to come clean on his real occupation. He is a dog catch... wait, no. He is a high school band director. The fall season is marching season, so he has practice several nights a week, attends every football game so his kiddos can march during halftime, and has to spend a lot of time preparing, fixing, adjusting... well, it's a big job. He also travels at least once a week to help out other (not-so) nearby programs to give advice, help clinic the kids, and be a general mentor to the band directors. Needless to say, it is not new for our friends to call me a "Band Widow" during this season.

This would be the main reason we have been unable to send in audio submissions, and why he has been unavailable for play for quite some time.

His students received a 1 at Region competition, which is the highest rating you can get, and that has advanced them to the next round, which will be Area competition. 20 bands throughout the area received 1s, so only 4 bands will be advancing to the last round, which is the State competition. His students are determined, he is determined, and I just know they are going to do wonderfully - but it does mean I will be a "Band Widow" for a bit longer.

I have been having loads of fun, First of all just today while playing Kuahi on Winterhoof Ctrl Alt WOW dinged lvl 9 just as I turned to lvl 83 woot woot.

I also have been running The HEadless horse man on 6 of my toons and have received the sword on both Konajace and Robusta, but only Robusta can take the best use of it, He is dual weilding the Sword and the Shanker from Coren Direbrew.

So I know many out there do not like to look at there \played but I went ahead and checked mine so this is the rundown that I have and wow can it be eye opening.

Hi all, Tallulah/Moonah here. Just wanted to share a RL WoW moment... I was going through my emails, it happened to be the day after i submitted my first email to your podcast. So, anyway. in the subject line read.... wait for it... Would you like to join the guild? The first name of the person who sent it was named Irene. My first thought was... Aprilian's name is Irene? She doesn't sound like an Irene. As you would expect, I opened that email as quick as I could, only to have my hopes dashed when I read that the symphony in my area wanted me to join. Hey everyone, so I've been lured back to WoW and now to ER by the lovely Dreams who I've known for a couple years now and I'd love to join your guild. I'm a married father of two so I don't get as much time to play as I'd like, but probably still play more than I should :)

I'm in the UK and used to play on an EU server but haven't played since Wrath so got my arm twisted to reroll on the US realms and RAF with Dreams. Funnily enough we've not actually gotten around to doing much RAF but I've been passing the time getting my first toon to 85 (troll druid) and seeing some of the new content.

Levelling definitely seemed faster this time around, I guess they've increased the XP and I had the new guild perk thingy too (thanks to the Unbroken peeps on Sisters of Elune for letting me level in their guild!) Still, I'm not sure I could ever quest all the way to 85 with any other class than druid now. I just feel so spoiled having flight form as it makes everything go so much faster, particularly those annoying "click 30 sparkly things that are surrounded by aggro mobs" type quests.

Since I hit 85 on this guy I've been having fun doing Tol Barad and the dailies there and I've just started grinding honor and the argent tournament so I can stock up on heirlooms (I'm a total altaholic!) I also have a pathological hatred of the dungeon finder, so seals > JP despite the crusader grind. The honor seems to be coming pretty fast though so I may just convert it to JP and get the chest piece heirlooms that way. I did Crusader once before and it does seem easier this time around, and of course Chillmaw isn't nearly as tricky to solo at 85.

I got nostalgic and joined a Wintergrasp only to find I was the only Horde there which was a little sad, but to be expected I guess. Too bad you can't send honor to your alts using the marks any more.

I've also been flying all over Azeroth doing archaeology, which feels a bit tedious so far but I guess there are some decent rewards eventually. I still can't get over how cool it is to fly everywhere though and I had to blow the extra 4k for the master flying, just because.

I am looking forward to meeting some new people and exploring more content, both new and old.

Transmografication! Hooray! My first transmografication will be a PAIR of PANTS for my mage. Finally, after seventy or so levels my mage can where pants again. I will not care what condition, color, or length. I just want some pants!

Let me say first I love my wife dearly. I enjoy holding her hand through quests. Computer gaming is all new to her. She has accumulated 100,000 gold more than once, spends a big chunk of it, then goes about earning it back to her self imposed 100,000 gold limit. And, she generously gives me all the potions I need.

One day she asked me to assist her with a five man group Ghostland quest. I agreed and teleported to Silvermoon or the Mall as she calls it. I rode out to Tranquillien. During this time she complains about this character dying too much. Insisting the last “GM” she spoke to about her dying made the circumstances worse by “doing something” to it. Her reasoning is somewhere beyond “the ball park”, but she wouldn’t complain about the dying often without some truth to it.

I arrive in Tranquillien and wait while she is bouncing around from NPC to NPC doing who knows what. Right away I noticed her fine appearance and attire. A blonde, green eyed, Blood Elf, with a long flowing white robe, a white blouse and most notably the thigh high, black boots with large buckles above the knees. She jumped on my Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth and we followed the scar toward Deathholm. On our way she mentioned needing some spinal dust and hearts. She implores me to stop and help because she had great difficulties killing these skeletons and ghouls. I know my dear wife’s focus on a goal is short, and knew this fault before I set out to Ghostlands. I gathered and slaughtered mobs with the intent of slowly approaching Deathholm where her group quest was located. Less than five mobs downed and looted and she is in the woods collecting plants and screaming for help with the spiders.

Before I go on, let me point out this is her third female Blood Elf Paladin, all using the same talent points and all three are Herbalist / Alchemists. In addition, after 2 years, I believe I have convinced her that retribution Paladins use strength and wear plate. I used various sources: online guides, bought her a paper guide for Cataclysm, and taught her how to use inspection. Without interference from me, I have watched her pick out correct gear on the auction house and purchase proper gems and enchantments.

I locate her on the mini map and hurriedly head toward her. I know she’s not fully aware of “aggro” and keeps a close view which diminishes the important peripheral view. She makes large circling movements to turn herself for battle, thus inviting anything else nearby. We have however, made progress in the Firelands, regarding the value of not using an area-of-effect in crowded situations. I wonder as I race towards her, why she is dying so much. She knows the region and how to use a Paladin, then it hits me. A white blouse and small green shoulders. While she chides me for almost letting her die, I inspect her gear. A paladin wearing leather and cloth --- mystery solved.

I don’t mention the gear, but remind her again of the group quest in Deathholm. I wouldn’t win any argument. The best I could hope for would be a long journey back to the Mall to change clothes. It would be at least a thirty minute interruption with searches through clutter, then back and forth between the bank and mailbox. She couldn’t find an apple if you handed her a bag of apples. If the proper gear doesn’t exist then some nearby NPC would be accused of stealing it. Do not forget all the shiny plants between Deathholm and the Mall. I say nothing about the gear and pass through the Deathholm gates.

I have no need for new quest lines, a new Darkmoon Faire, new dungeons, a new pick-up-group raid finder, or to see Deathwing die. I have the greatest story teller and adventurer right here beside me everyday. And she has a ton of gold!

Reefberry has joined the Clan of Darkness. Cowboy and Iceflow answered my request and processed the verification all in less than 5 minutes. I made a troll Death Knight because I had never played a troll or a Death Knight. Reefberry has finally escaped the influence of the Lich King and is bunking down in Orgrimmar. I’ll most likely stay in Kalmidor and develop my professions before I bust up the evils of Outlands.

I haven't written in since my breathy appearance on the show. Aprillian does that to me. It was great being on the show.

After a couple of weeks as a substitute tank for several raid teams BrewDawg has landed a permanent spot with <Raid Wipers Anonymous>. We may be friends of Bill W but we have 6/7 Firelands bosses on farm and have gotten Ragnaros down to 22%. Like the Litch King you only have to get him down to 10% on normal difficulty so we are very close.

The Rags fight requires good coordination between all raid members. There is a lot of movement and several mechanics that require the raid to adjust their positioning on the fly. The transition phases have a time pressure element. Rags plants his hammer in one of three positions on the floor and summons 8 adds spaced evenly across the platform. You have to kill them before they reach the hammer or they explode wiping the raid, they move very fast.

In the third phase it gets crazy. I'll just say: Giant Burning Meatballs!

After no luck with drops for weeks Brew got four upgrades in one night; trinket, back, tier shoulders, and best of all Fandral's Flamescythe! BrewDawg is en Fuego!

With the staff equipped you become a fire-cat when in kitty form and in combat. The staff has an on use ability that turns you into a fire-cat out of combat as well. It's the same model as the Druids of the Flame in the Molten Front. Screen shot with Gary attached.

I enjoyed tanking for different teams and meeting new people but it's great to be with a consistent group. Unknown to me when I accepted the invite there are 3 people on the team that were on my Wrath team. Including Lay Di who is a face melting shadow priest and 61 years young. There's also a podcast connection; my new raid leader is one of the host of the Covert to Raid podcast.

The only down side is Brew has yet again switched AIE guilds and has to grind guild rep again.

Moving on to my Clan of Darkness toons:

My Pally Boileau (Bwallow) has successfully tanked both Troll 5-mans a couple of times. I had a bit of a hassle on a ZG run with healers dropping after they saw I was wearing the PVP helm and shoulders. Finally one of them mentioned it before dropping. I linked the 371 PVP helm and shoulders and the 353 troll ones in my bag and asked if he rather I put those on and give up almost 1k armor, 250 stam, and 200 mastery. He said nope and we proceeded to one shot all the bosses.

Recently however Boileau has fallen victim to Project Mage. Ozoe, a goblin, is level 75 and climbing. Been questing and running Wrath 5-mans with her. I like the pace of the DPS Q's. While waiting I can do some quest or work on her professions. It's been a long time since I've run an instance as a non-tank. I'd forgotten the fun of trying to squeak out every bit of DPS and top the meter at the end of a boss fight.

This is my first female toon at high level and it feels odd to me. I may sex/race change her when she hits 85. I'm thinking either undead or troll.

Now that my raid schedule has settled down I should be able to dedicate at least one night a week for CoD activities. We probably have enough folks with 349-359 ilevels to step into some of the t11 raids or do some Firelands trash. Watch your calendars for invites.

good news bad news its all perspective

Sorry for the delay-- lets just say Brewfest is my favorite holiday, man those Dark Iron Dwarves know how to party. I woke up with a really unlovely creature and I had to give her several large goblets of ale before I could make my escape.

I did not catch who sent the email the other day, and I am not going to admit to seeing them, but Wolpetingers make a perfect Corn Dog and they even come with there own stick so Virshna wouldn't even have to jam wooden object into uncomfortable places before cooking.

On to the good news/bad news (depending on how you look at it). I never intended to send in more than one letter, but thanks to your great response and one EPIC reading by Ashayo, I had a blast and kept going. But just like putting a "free Miley Cyrus tickets" sign on your van is great fun to start with........its only going to end badly! So I am sad to say that this will be my last letter. I will continue to be a loyal listener and I promise to keep my war cry of "For Virshna" whenever I charge into a bunny field, but sadly I will never get to hear my sweet words torturing Virshna again.

Saulius here! I'm a long time UK listener and thought it was about time I emailed in! I recently got back into playing WoW on a US starter edition account. It didn't take me long to decide to upgrade to the full game. I play an orc shaman on the Earthen Ring server, who is currently level 25. Due to the Global dynamics (yes, my salute to Eureka) of our podcast, scheduling recording time is like balancing a soap bubble on a pin. Because of the Australian time change, our previous time slot, Wednesday morning at 6am won't work. So we are moving to 1am Sunday morning. This also means we will skip this coming Wednesday.
