Will we see Shadowlands cut short?

As time seems to be running out for a 2 year lifespan of a WoW expansion, I'm afraid that they will (again) cut content to stay with the 2 year cycle.

Will we see $$$ win over storytelling and providing of content?

Hulking Deathroc mount looted from Violet Mistake in Maldraxxus:

Played some Mechwarrior 5.  Missions are a bit easier now as the pilots seemed to be able to shoot stuff.


Super squirt day on last Thursday, leveled about 20 pets and picked about 20 more to level for next time, 722 at max level unique.

Finished the weekly anima gather at 1000 anima with 5 minutes to spare.


Played all night saturday, doing quests.


New Hunter pet with Achievement Northern Exposure in Northrend : Loque’nahak


Visit to LFR to see Sylvanas fight with smaller damage scale on the raid, got my quest done and earned 1500 Anima from the reward.


2 more companions leveled on Mission table, only 3 to go, 2 are level 58, and the lowest companion is level 50.

What We've Been Doing:


A Kotaku article recently stated that Blizzard has “let go” some top level people, the circumstances are somewhat unknown, but at least one person has, apparently, been somewhat fired.

Jesse McCree, Luis Barriga, and Jonathan LeCraft are no longer with the company, for all the good that does.

McCree, being one of the people whose name has come up in connection with the lawsuit, and being one of the people in the “Cosby Suite” picture published, is the namesake of one of  the Overwatch heroes. I wonder if that hero will be renamed, after the “purging” of other names, Alex Afrasiabi, from WoW.

He, McCree, worked as designer on Diablo 4 as of late, so I wonder how much of a delay that departure will cause.

According to a Kotaku article: “One source who learned of the news said Activision Blizzard did not give a reason for the departures, but they come as the company reckons with a California lawsuit alleging widespread sexual harassment and discrimination at the Overwatch and Call of Duty publisher.”

Also, in addition to those 3, Cory Stockton, was put on leave.


Blizzard is finally looking into the issue of players getting upgrades to conduits for specs they do not play at time of loot.

Getting conduits for other than the active spec is well and good, AFTER you have the upgrades for your current specs set.

I talked about this earlier in the expansion's life cycle and talked about getting the same conduit loot from multiple WQ’s at the same time.

That is wrong too, but just not giving you the right spec’s conduit (being the currently active spec) is even worse.

Look at the blue post for details on how it works, all i wanna say here is that you have to switch the spec entirely, not just switch loot spec, for this new system to take effect.

What We've Been Doing:


Blizzard statement from Aug. 3rd.:

“Starting today, J. Allen Brack will be stepping down as the leader of the studio, and Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra will co-lead Blizzard moving forward.”

They specifically don’t refer to him as the President anymore, just as “Leader”, simply because neither Jen nor Mike will hold that title. Corporate speak is everything, in this case.


AVB Q2 earnings call:

Blizzard had 26 million MAUs (Monthly Active Users) in the second quarter, down from 27 million MAUs in the first quarter, down from 29 million in Q4 2020, down from 30 million in Q3 2020, and down from 32 million in Q1/Q2 2020.

So continues down hill slide, even though Shadowlands was the record breaking game it was, the MAUs didn’t reflect that.

[World of Warcraft] Subscriber numbers and hours played were higher following the release, demonstrating the importance of Classic in enabling more ways for players to engage.

That tells me they want to distract from the support for Shadowlands, again corporate speak for yeah, product model X sucks, but look here product model Y is just awesome.

It looks like Blizzard is hiring for 20 new job positions now for World of Warcraft (after they fired 800-900 staff in the entire company a couple of years ago).

I wonder how that announcement is linked, if at all, in the wake of the lawsuits we all feel.

Oh yes, i said lawsuits, as in multiple. 

We got a new lawsuit on the day we had the earnings call. 

Activision Blizzard Faces Second Lawsuit Over First Lawsuit

A class action lawsuit filed today in the U.S. District Court of Central California on behalf of investors alleges that Activision Blizzard’s intentional failure to disclose its ongoing problems with sexual harassment and discrimination artificially inflated the company’s stock value. In layman’s terms, if investors had known the extent of Activision Blizzard’s issues, they wouldn’t have invested in its stock. - Kotaku article from Aug. 3rd 2021

Bobby Kotick quotes:

“The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games.”

That is a 180 on Blizzard's goal for making games.

“I think we definitely have been able to instill the culture, the skepticism and pessimism and fear that you should have in an economy like we are in today. And so, while generally people talk about the recession, we are pretty good at keeping people focused on the deep depression.”

This is how you get bad games. Not saying he didn’t earn money off of them, cause clearly he did, but the player was just a cash cow to be milked.




Increased experience earned from Timewalking dungeon completion by 50%.

Developers’ note: There was a bug introduced in 9.1 that caused Timewalking to give much more completion experience than the UI advertised, ramping up more the lower-level the base expansion was, which is why this wasn’t noticed with Warlords of Draenor Timewalking a few weeks ago. The intent is for all Timewalking weeks to give comparable experience – we put in a quick fix last night and have deployed the proper fix today. We also took the opportunity to recalibrate Timewalking experience and increase it.

There is ElvUI as a suite of addons / modules with a grid to move and scale UI items, and then there is MoveAnything for people that just don’t want all the things ElvUI has, JUST to get the move / scale feature it has.

For those, MoveAnything is an alternative, not the same features, but an alternative.
