From Juuno

Hello darlings! I hope Aprillian and Vrishna had a GREAT Thanksgiving! (I don't think Jeppy and Ashayo celebrate it... lol!) I have been BURIED in WoW!!! Totally lost track of time! XD I hope you're loving it as much as I am!! =.D

*big hugs*

Juuno

Patch 4.03

Heading towards our 4 year anniversary

What We've Been Doing:

Aprillian
OMG, love the new log in screen.

Left Epril at the base of a "needle" in 1k needles, ended up on top. Freewind post taken over by grimtotem invaders

Orgrimmar!!

Started a troll, love the troll starting area.

Life is a little bit harder without portals in dal, RAF to the rescue!
FP in Dolanar & Brill

Ran a toon from the Nelf starting area to Darn to summon Aprillia only to find it was on the wrong account. Then thought, I should run an alt on both toons to darn, when I encountered the "you have too many toons on this account"

Went to buy extra codes for wow, bc & wraith and they were sold out.

Flying carpets in old world = cool

Hard to get back and forth without Dal & portals

Killing other people's turkeys is evil! I don't know why anyone would do that.

Aprillian & Vrishna
nada, niente, zip, butkus, squat, zero, zilch, etc., etc. This portion of the show was sacrificed to our individual RAF's needs.
Vrishna
OMG, hate the new log in screen.

Orgrimar!!

Went to the new troll area. Flight paths in Razor Hill and Senjiin Villiage.

Too many toons stuck in Dalaran.

Dying in an instance.

It's not Cataclysm it's Cata- CHASM ! What the heck happened to the Barrens. Don't they know I just wanna get from Crossroads to Razorfen Kraul ! (Which has been anti nerfed by the way)

Got my mounts on my raf mage and lock.

Ashayo

Hail once again from Wtfson

like always great show .... even though Ashayo was not there. anyway great job on saying my name or should i say not saying my name you guys had me rolling and then Jeppy just blurted out WT......with him proclaiming that he didn't say it all that was great. To be honest I never thought that my name could be a prob but then again with a CLEAN tag you just can't blurt stuff out like that (lol) so I think for now on just for the Ctrl-alt-WoW crew you can call me Dimented. I think that will be fine. Really that toon was supposed to be a throw away Dk that i was lvl'ing threw the starting zone just for gold and after many many toons later and this one being my last I said that's enough I joined BoE and started lvl'ing. One last thing Junno with her own show EPIC ! I can't wait to hear it. well I guess that enough rambling from me now bye-bye

Love the show I'm an avid listener and extreme Altaholic (9 lvl 80 alts )

Shows been going good but I think you guys need to move a mic or set it to "push to talk" or when you start talking it comes on. Jeppy was talking it up and all I heard was click click clack clack of someone hammer their keyboard.

Love the show, keep'm up and running.

Email #2 from BrewDawg

Greetings Lady and Gentlemen. I'm known as BrewDawg on the internets and the rugby pitch. I've been playing wow for almost a year and a half. For the first six months I wandered aimlessly and accumulated many toons across several servers. Most of these are in their teens and twenties. I tried different classes, races, and factions as well as PVP vs. PVE servers.

In October of last year I rolled a toon on Earthen Ring, joined AIE and found a home. My raider is a troll hunter named Treaul(troll), but I consider my druid BrewDawg my main.

For a long time I bounced from toon to toon with a new favorite every week. However without any 80's I felt like I was missing out on a lot of end-game and world event content. My New Year's Resolution was to only play my hunter until he hit 80. Treaul was in his 30's at the beginning of the year and hit 80 on April 5th. Treaul finally got the Kingslayer title a few weeks ago.

Not bad progress considering my in-game time is limited; job, Rugby ref, a wonderful but non-gamer wife and a three year old daughter.

After spending so much time min-maxing my hunter I may no longer be an Altoholic. With all I've learned about hunters, I realize how little I know about other classes. Ashayo I don't know how your able to switch from toon to toon and run end-game content. My hats off to you and Gratz on multiple Kingslayers.

I recently picked-up my Druid and namesake BrewDawg tanking randoms and BG's. He ding'ed 80 last month in time to get the Brewmaster title,
Brewmaster BrewDawg the only title he'll ever use.

Now I have to decide which toon to level to 85 first. It will depend on the needs of my raid team.

I enjoy the show, it's very entertaining and I pick up a tip or two along the way.

Regards,
Brew Dawg

Email #3 from Naboo

Hi again Ashayo, Virshna, Jeppy and the mmmmmm Aprillian, nabboo here again hope you are all ok and having fun

This email is in 3 parts hope you enjoy.

Part 1

Aprillian got my name right the second time it was meant to be spelled naboo its on a english tv show called the mighty boosh, btw i have never seen any star wars films ever i get asked if i named my toon that alot in wow and then i have to correct them. Secondly Tribalh, the way i pronounce it is Tribal (H) alphabetically i picked this name as I am a tattooist from England and the day i picked up the game i had been doing tribal tattoos all day lots of blood and pain, exactly what my warrior brings to any hordie he spots and is flagged pvp.

Now my week,

This week i've been dual boxing a lot, Aprillian and the other mage have just hit 50, I made 20k gold on the ah selling gems and stuff, all was going great until me and my girlfriend had a huge argument over WoW, :( (dual boxing A LOT doesn't help when she HATES the game) so to prove she means more to me than WoW, I went into the next room and clicked uninstall ( don't panic just yet) as she walked into the room she saw on the PC World of warcraft was successfully uninstalled, she then said to re download it and she was sorry for been awkward, i said it would take ages and I would do it tomorrow, long story short i knew how this would play out so instead of uninstalling WoW i uninstalled the cata beta :D (I know im not the first to say it but sorry Aprillian)If she ever found out i did this she would kill me. She also said she would try the game and is now levelling her level 12 warlock (human) called hollier. If she ever found out i did this she would kill me.

Part 2
(this is where i introduce my partner and ask for a shout out to hollier) this is the only part of the podcast i will show her as if she hears the previous part im dead)

Hi ctrl alt WoW crew hope you are all ok nabboo again here huge week again for me as my girlfriend started playing could i ask for a shout out to hollier ty guys have fun in wow

Part 3

Now back to me again ty for doing that if you do read it on the podcast again. Last week i was laughing my head off was awesome, so again thank you for the great shows keep up the good work and love ya LONG LIVE CAW

Subject: Check out my acronym

Heya JAVA (Jeppy, Aprillian, Vrishna, Ashao):

Yeah it's me again with the Icky Report because 4.0.03a nerfed my favorite hunter soloing pet: the WORMS.

Since the patch, worms no longer hold threat when they use their AOE Burrow Attack. Any mobs damaged by it will come running straight for your hunter, even if you haven't fired a single shot. Yeah I tested it. Now there's a work-around, but this involves standing your hunter right next to your worm, so all the mobs stay in the AOE zone, which means letting all the mobs beat on you. And if you want any experience or loot from the mobs you'll have to damage them yourself, such as by dropping a trap. And you can expect your hunter to take some heavy damage, too. Maybe 50-75% damage, depending on what mobs you're fighting. Assuming you live.

And, yeah, Blue Post to the forums: if your pet kills a mob without any help from you ain't nobody getting no loot or exp. That's how the devs want it.

So does this mean we all go back to turtles for extreme hunter soloing? Of course not! Because turtles are lame! And BEETLES have the same special ability that turtles have: that of reducing all damage taken by 50% for 12 seconds, on a 1 minute cooldown.

Visit Petopia. Check it out.

Now if you're still a low level hunter you've got no choice but to tame a turtle, but if you can tame level 40 you could get a Silithid Defender from Thousand needles and OMG a big brown bug is so much more cool than some goofy turtle, if only because it makes people go, "EEEEWWWWWWW!!!!!!!"

And by the way: Newb Alert!!! If you decide to try dual speccing (and you should because it's only a 100 gold now) you need to check all your pets' talents, because if YOU dual spec then all your pets do too. Which means choosing two talent builds for every one of your pets.

And make sure you include Blood of the Rhino in your tanking-pet talent-build. For two points it increases all healing effects on your pet by 40%!!

Happy Hunting,

Agruvona of Terokkar

Oh and p.s.: HA!!! You all laughed about my six year old Dell, but it's running the latest patch just fine, (and, YES, in COLOR!!) and did I mention I just got the coolest mount in the game? The CENARION WAR HIPPOGRYPH!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

Email #5

Hey CAW crew, it's Skral again. I haven't written in a while, but I am still listening. My wife and I have made some progress on our Venture Co characters and are now starting to see some PvP from time to time. Thousand Needles, Ashenvale, and the Stonetalon Mountains have provided a few funny encounters for us.

My first taste of PvP was in Stonetalon. After running some quests, we are hoofing it back to the Barrens. We are still learning the layout of the area, and we get turned around a few times. It was the perfect opportunity to get ganked, and we were. That scummy dwarf rogue was in his upper 40s and my level 22 mage and my wife's level 24 hunter just couldn't kill him. I managed to get him down to about 1/3rd health before dying.

I admit I was felling a little bit of noob PVP rage, so I decided not to hit the release button right away. I decided to take a minute to catch my breath and think about if I was just going to get ganked again if I ran back. The graveyard was really close by, I probably could have made it back to my body in 30 seconds or so.

My attacker must have had too much Mountain Dew because he was going crazy with the anticipation of killing us again. He tried random emotes for a little bit. Then he started jumping around. Finally, he starting getting on each and every mount he owned and running laps around our dead bodies, a few laps at a time and then switching. I began cracking up watching this, so I just let the timer keep going. He finally got tired of waiting and logged off just before the timer expired. I thought the ones that were ganked were supposed to be the ones to logoff in a huff?

The same weekend we went to Booty Bay to try to fish. Now I knew there were goblin bruisers there to keep order between the factions. Someone forgot to tell this level 11 human mage we ran into. We saw in chat that he was fighting and dying several times- we thought he would get the idea. But no. While I'm fishing, he spots us and jumps in the water. He swims to us and jumps behind me. I turn around and we just stare at each other for ten seconds. I was thinking that maybe the light bulb was going off above his head finally since he paused. I casually turned around to resume fishing. He plunged a dagger in my back, and the guards killed him in three seconds. I'm not sure which is more funny- the fact that he still didn't learn his lesson or, as a mage, he thought the best way to start a PvP battle was with his dagger.

Since you have had a few listeners ask about if they should play on PvP servers or not, I thought I would share these so they can see what they are missing. We play on RPPvP servers, so we get the fun of killing the Alliance, and I get to laugh at my wife when she gets creeped out by the roleplayers in the taverns. It's full of win. Just remember to get even with anyone that ganks you. It's a moral imperative.

Skral

P.S. It is time to step up your game. I want to hear everyone try the Pandaren monk saying "Jub Jub."

P.P.S To Vrishna- "Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?"

Email # C from Nevik

Greetings JAVA!

What was the first thing you did after the Shattering? Did you log in to find that your troll rogue, whom you had parked south of the Dalaran crater, had been tossed THROUGH a mountain straight into the Alliance AV tunnel and promptly killed by the guards?

No? That was just me eh? Oh well.

After the initial shock of logging in dead, I fruitlessly tried to find the entrance to the tunnel and was forced to spirit rez in the end. I then promptly mounted up and headed over to Brazie's farmstead for some sweet sweet Peacebloom vs Ghouls action. Nothing was going to come between me and my singing sunflower. Not even Deathwing himself could stop me.

A few PvG quests later and my troll rogue rejoiced as he obtained the sunflower pet.

I still haven't checked back on the farmstead to see if the endless mode is enabled, but I have every intention of getting the Bloom and Doom achievement (survive 100 waves). PvG is just so much fun, but I digress ...

what did all of you do? I bet Aprillian logged in, looked around, shed a tear or two over how beautiful everything is and then went back to baking bread.

Anyhoo, back to my tauren paladin on jub jub.

For the Peacebloom!

Nevik

Email #D Audio

Hey CAW crew Juno once again has drawn me from my cave dwelling so I humbly offer up this next audio submission. I like to also if I could take my self out of the weekly draw because I feel the prizes need to go to people who can use them and I have both a iPod with battle net authenticator on it and all the pets but I would like to donate the new mookin hatchling and the other new pet to the show as prizes if I could when they finally do come out. Warning my voice has not gotten any better.

Shout Outs & Thank You

Momomoments

Hello all,
hope everyone is doing well and you had a great Thanksgiving feast, if you have that if not, hope you had a feast anyways.
Just a quick email from me this week as I will be going to Vegas after our Thanksgiving coma. I did want to say how awesome Blizzard is as they never cease to amaze me. The last patch was a new game! We have cataclysm and the killer is we dont even have the expansion yet so that means we have more goodness to come.

I have only had a chance to view Org. so far and wow is it amazing! I spent hours just riding around town checking every new corner. Than I spent more hours looking at our new maps. If you noticed all the previous zones that were not clickable or blank, they are not anymore. They are all new zones and than some! Simply amazing, I really am speechless at how awesome it is. I also notice 2 little islands below the middle of the map, where you click to see the goblin starting zones. I am sure those will be some future raids or something.

I did jump in some randoms for a guildy to heal for him and so far holy priests are still awesome! I know 5-dungeons vs raids is not a good comparison but still, healing was not an issue (as I think it will be once they bring us down to earth and mana management will be an issue again).

I hope everyone is enjoying the game as I do not have any complaints :)

Have great time in game and I cannot wait to get back to it next week!

Oh yes, I did get my set of wow 1, 2, 3 for only $26!!! of course for my upcoming RAF :) I just dont know when to start it.
I was thinking of starting it after the 7th but I dont know.

Cant wait for the goblins, worgens and my HOLY Cow!!!! Tauren Priest!

bye!

What We've Been Doing:

Aprillian

Love defending TB & Og. It's scaled so if you're not fighting, you shouldn't be there.

Got good gear. Spent JP & honor on Epril & Auruk. A lot of resilence stuff. Looked into reforging and didn't know which one to sacrifice.

Pilgrim's Bounty is overwelming.

Had one hunter in Trisfal farming turkey

Dungeons

Aprillian & Vrishna
Did several Doomsday instances. Got some nice gear. Had one bad experience and several good ones. Got lost trying to get back to Mauradon and had my first angry chat with a tank. (I was healing) . Only one of the five got back quickly. I was following Aprillian because I had never been there, we got back last but just after the tank who immediately began huffing. So I whispered him that he took pretty long to get there himself,(upwards of 6-7 min.), so then he insults my healing, my gear, my parentage, wow. The list goes on. It's a game people. RELAX !
Vrishna
Can only buy food at level . What"s up with that ?

Running my raf toons thru instances with my level 43 hunter to get them to level with their actual intended partners. I am upset that ALL my gear has intellect. Although, even though these instances are below my level, every now and then I get gear that is better than what she has. However, the cloth gear for my raf mage and warlock has been SWEET ! Did Wailing caverns and am now onto Razorfen Kraul.

Why is it EVERY TIME I NEED TO SELL OR REPAIR Orgrimar is under attack !!!

Defended Thunder Bluff with Virinya. Definitely scaled. At first I was killing the elementals with little to no effort. But as the fight wore on and others began to arrive in Mulgore, I was getting my butt handed to me over and over and over. Whew !

Also i would like to give a shout out to damomage who boosted me through so many dungeons which i repaid him with a chopper. episode 188 computer advice and more (jeppy sized mail)

dear CAW,

on episode 188, listener janine asked for advice about mac or pc for WoW.

i would not advice a macbook air for WoW.
an imac or macbook pro would be good.
and Ashaeo is right with his comments about the graphics card, a graphic card is more important then processor speed.

btw, i have a 1st generation intel macbook pro (intel core duo, 4 years old) and WoW goes reasonable, not all the graphics are on high, but it goes reasonable.
i have a new imac and WoW plays well on that too. i had not had any problem with the patches for WoW or Starcraft, even though i heard stories of other macbook owners that did had problems (no imac stories).
i also have a game pc, running window 7, 64 bit.

believe it or not Aprillian, but i prefer to play on my pc.
why?
keyboard and mouse bindings work on my pc better then on my mac.
i have a logitech m705 on my mac and the logitech G5 on the pc.
the G5 works and responds way better on the pc.
when it comes to the graphics... yeah, the mac owns the pc, but when it comes to the gameplay, pc still wins for me.

Janine is definitely better of with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB preferred)
She can go for a End Of Life imac or macbook pro.

anyway, i still have to listen to episode 189, so maybe she already has some answers from other listeners.

now that im writing anyway, ( a jeppy sized email), Aprillian, ive seen some of your twitpics where you where multitasking.
running on the tredmill, watching true blood, and playing wow.....
wouldn't your multi-tasking brainpowers better be used to.. oh maybe find a cure for cancer or find the solution for world peace or some quantum physics computing??

anyway, the final things i have to say are:
Juuno is awesome.
I still remember the first time she send an audio submission.
i was playing on a lvl 14 orc in the barrens.
the moment she began to talk i let go off my mouse.
because i wanted to completely concentrate on her audio and not miss a thing.
so for the time she was talking on that first audio entry to your podcast, a lonely lvl 14 orc hunter was standing still in the barrens, doing nothing cause his controller (me) was bedazzled by Juuno.
Her audio entries where getting better and better.
WoW, she is awesome!
if it wasn't for the bunny killing i would be a complete fan!

there is only 1 person more awesome then Juuno.
and that person is Vrishna.
Why?
1: he doesn't kill bunnies
2: his look at life
3: he doesnt kill rabbits
4: his look at games
5: he doesnt kill bunnies
6: he laughs at making mistakes, his motto: "mistakes are the spice of life" is inspiring.

Ashaeo, your knowledge and stories about the dungeons have been invaluable and lifesaving. thank you

El Jeppy: why don't you use your multitasking skills and brainpower for the good of mankind?
you are awesome to. plus, your a fellow european :)

Oh and one last shout out to Nevik.
great designs for the T-shirts and other CAW stuff.
im a proud owner now of 2 CAW shirts and a CAW bottle and a CAW hoodie.

ive made a character on the BoE server.
hope to see you there.

Hello People of the Ctrl-Alt-Wow Crew..First thing You guys are amazing! I love how you guys speak out what you do over your weeks of wow! But anyway, what i wanted to type this email about is my Cata and pre-cata experience! So when I found out I had got beta! {sorry aprillian :( } I was soo excited! My wow account was not subscribed at the time..soo i decided to play beta anyway! To find out that the streaming client was waiting their downloading..and taking forever :( When the download was done, i started the client and found the amazing Backround DEATHWING moving thingy..lol Sorry, i couldn't tell you the technical thing..but the thing you see when you open up wow and see the dragon flying..ANYWAY!! I logged on and made a WORGEN DRUID FTW~! (For the Alliance) So when i finally got into game..I was disappointed to find that I (SPOILER ALERT) was human! Ugh a Human i said to myself :(..So after that devastating exposition..I leveled! I found out that the worgen area is soo FUN! its like Blood elf starting area but 10x better! (come on you gotta love the Belf area!) My worgen on the beta is level 13 and i'm so happy..but to find that if your internet speed is not fast enough..most the game you cant access till it has been downloaded..So i'm kinda bummed about that..But I resub to wow for a month to see all the wonderful changes they made to wow! I truly cannot believe why people hate the patch soo much? I like it..It gives wow a fresh new start..to make the noobs (which i am) a new kind of feel to the game..like they are learning at the same time as the old players! So after typing this email I am currently doing the phases, And I like them alot..Other than the trolls spamming trade chat and so on.. I am Very happy what wow has become! Well Back to Questing with me!

Part 1 Levelling

Hey JAVA,

I'm leveling character number 6 through Azeroth, a subtlety rogue. I've mixed in battlegrounds and dungeons to give some variety to the leveling process, and I've even consciously tried to check out different zones I haven't done in the past, or only parts of. However, I find that I'm tending back to some of the same places simply because I know I can bang out the quests quickly and move on, and admittedly, I'm a bit bored with it. I'm totally dreading heading to Outland and doing the same Hellfire quests again. At least in northrend you have two sides to choose from. So, when you're working through alts, do you have a regular path? Do you have a handful of quests that you always hit? Do you try and do different paths on successive toons?

I've also been doing the world events on a couple toons. On the rogue, mid 50's, each phase seems to be worth a big chunk of a level. However, on my mid 20's shammy, each phase is worth over a level. Crazy. I'm really looking forward to Pilgrims bounty for the exp and leveling up cooking.

Thanks for the podcast!

Part 2 Warrior Tank Tips
Hey JAVA,

I broke this up from the other email so that it would be more manageable in size, and as a stand alone.

For warrior tanking, I like thinking of the tanking skills as different groups, which have shifting priorities based on what's going on.

Group control/Positioning:
shield bash (silencing + threat)
concussive blow (stun)
shockwave (group stun + threat)
heroic throw (ranged silence)

Mobility
charge
intercept
intervene

On Cooldown
revenge
shield slam
heroic strike/cleave - based on number of mobs

Spamming
devastate

Specific use:
thunderclap - use at initial charge, use on cooldown most of the time, but save to fights with adds
Commanding shout - start of fight; weave in later too
demoralizing shout - use on big pulls

Mitigation
shield block
shield wall
last stand
enraged regeneration
trinket #1
trinket #2

So here's a typical, complicated pull
Commanding shout; Heroic throw at one caster; charge other caster and shield bash, thunderclap, devestate/shield slam/revenge while walking backwards to position mobs for shockwave. At this point you should have massive aggro, and you can start spamming some moves, Intercept/charge to casters that get away and shield bash to silence. weave in rend to help out your friendly rogue and throw some devastates around as well. You can use thunderclap on cooldown for now, but save for add fights and be careful with it come Cata.

The best place to practice is Heroic HoR, and actually the Bran fight can be tricky with a Warrior tank if your group isn't too over-geared.

For a boss fight its way easier:
shout -> pull with heroic throw -> devastate -> revenge -> shield slam; after that keep up thunderclap and demo shout for damage reduction; and spam with devastate while keeping your abilities on cooldown. Remember to use all of those mitigation cooldowns. If you have 2 on use trinkets you can almost always have some type of additional mitigation rolling.

Remember, the great strength of the warrior is the lack of rotation. We have a wonderful mix of spam attacks and cooldowns, but there is no rotation. We also have way more mobility than other tanks and can really control the battlefield, use it to your advantage.

Hope this helps

and many other alts, including the other 3 tanks.....

Hail to the fine makers of CtrlaltWow

First I would like to say What a fine Show. My first thing is to Jeppy with itunes i to seem to have problems with it downloading shows to my ipod well one really that's right it's BoE some times it will take 3 days after they post it for my Itunes will note that it is new and will then sink to my ipod.

Second I to had the same problem as Nighthaunt when I was lvling my priest but there are 2 that I want to share the first was in Boring Tundra I had an alli ganking me over and over so finaly i got on my mighty Mage Dimented made a quick macro so that when i hit him with an arcane blast I would then lol at him. This went on for a while, I am taking it that the person got mad because he sudrenly had a lvl 80 escort feeling good with my self I got back on my priest and continued leveling. A day or so later I was lvl in Grizzly Hills (having about 5 mobs on me) a lock decided to stick his nose in my battle and tried to kill me so I quickly feared them all off, targeted the lock, put a few dots on him feared again and I hit him with drain life and he was no more. I finisjed killing my mobs and went about my day. I never really got ganked much I guess being in the U.S. I am playing on Jub Jub's off time. well That's it from me untill next time keep the shows rolling.

Hi Caw crew and Juno if she is on please read this before playing my audio piece for anyone with sensitive hearing please skip my work because it will cause bleeding from the eyes and ears at the same time. If mat diox thought he had a annoying voice trust me I make him sound like angels. If you love Juno’s voice work then you will learn to fear mine. If you thought every aussie looked like Hugh Jackman and sounded like the BOE crew or Ashayo you were wrong in my case dead wrong. It may be the lack of a decent mic set up and or recording area or any skill in audio (make do funky stuff sorry my grammar like my voice could use work) so I say again please if you value your hearing and sanity skip my section if not please press play and Juno I warned you but had to coax me out of my cave.

Email #C from our Favorite WOW Couple

Hey CAW crew,

Iceflow and Caoboi here once again to let you know what we've been up to in (and a little bit out) of game this week. Remember that Herald of the Titans title and achievement? Well it didn't happen for Not in The Face this week and might not happen at all depending on what Blizzard is doing this coming Tuesday. If The Shattering patch (4.0.3a) happens on Tuesday then this achievement is gone for good. If it isn't, we'll have one more crack at it. But even if we don't get it down, we'll have lots of 226 gear to remember it by.

Our mains did a little bit of Lich King Raiding that we had never gotten around to. Our raid group went into Heroic ToC 10 man and got the tribute achievement and the achievement for completing heroic ToC. It was a lot of fun had by all even if there was no loot that anybody needed.

We've been alting it up in true CAW style. Caoboi's warrior, Warcao, has long since caught up with my shaman, Icedrop. He is now 76 and I am now 75 and we have just completed the Wrathgate event which I recommended that anybody finish up before the Shattering as this event will likely no longer be there. We'll probably push onto 80 before the expansion and this will make Caoboi's 8th 80 and my 5th.

Before I started concentrating on my shaman again, my warlock got all the way to level 24 and it's a ton of fun. It's dot, dot, dot, go to the next mob, repeat. I always thought warlocks were a squishy class that did meaningless dot damage while I was doing more superior melee burst damage. I have since discovered I was wrong as I continually top the charts in randoms as long as there are more than a few mobs to kill. ;) And Ashayo, I apologize for not acknowledging your warlock prowess. It's just when you look in the dictionary under warlock, you see Aprillian's picture.

Out of game, we have been celebrating the one year anniversary of our marriage and we've been marking the occasion by playing lots of WoW and watching Deadwood. It's appropriate that we play WoW since that is how we met. Thank you for the hug Aprillian. It was much appreciated.

Hope everybody has had a wonderful week and I look forward to telling you how we have been next week.

Everybody have a safe and happy Holiday (if you celebrate that kind of thing) and play WoW for us since we will be out of town so no gaming for us.

Iceflow and Caoboi

Gobble Gobble CAW CAW!

Er, that intro makes me sound like a big 'ol cro-key.

*cough*

What I meant to say was ... Heeelllloooo JAVA!

By the time you're reading this, Pilgrim's Bounty will be upon us all (actually it's already been live for quite some time for those of us living in the future). It may seem like an odd time to be celebrating what we're all thankful for with all of the chaos circling around us, but we can't live in fear and let the cultists win!

Nay, let us not tremble in fear (well, I guess some trembling is allowed with all of the earthquakes). Instead let us raise our turducken legs or side of roast helboar and be thankful that we have each other.

I'm thankful to have been apart of the CAW-community and found so many wonderful friends over the past year. I'm also thankful for all of the friends we'll all continue to make over the next as we persevere through these crazy times.

So as your sipping on your spiked cactus-apple cider, think about what you're thankful for.

Thank you Aprillian, Ashayo, Jeppy and Vrishna!

For the Stuffing!

Nevik

PS. I hate to sour the happy demeanor of this letter, but I have something important to share. Never, ever ever ever click on ANY link in an email even if it looks legit. I received no less than 3 wow-related phishing emails today that made it past my spam-filter. 1 was obviously a scam since it was ridden with grammatical errors, but the other 2 looked 100% legit.

These "legit-looking" emails came from noreply@blizzard.com (cloned email address) advising me that my account information had been changed and to click on the link to verify the changes. They also included a legit link to email Blizzard's billing department and their 1-800 #.

If ever in doubt to the legitimacy of an email, always manually enter in battle.net and verify the security of your account or call Blizzard directly.

Just a friendly reminder to always protect your WoW account!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Shout Outs & Thank You
MoMoMoments

Hello all,
hope everyone is doing well.
It has been a rough week for me as for the first time in my wow history (5+years) I have had my first computer issue with wow.
Just sad. On the positive side the issue was only on my laptop. On Tuesday (I believe it was 4.03 patch day) I was watching some quality television and was going to update my laptop with the latest patch.
I click on the wow launcher as usual however the game did not load as usual. I received the message: Launcher failed to get patch info (or something, just a sad news thats all!) and it said to check my internet settings. Of course I was stubborn and was mad at why this was happening.
I try several solutions which did not help at all. I looked on google, forums, and nothing. As of when you read this email I am sure I will be looking for a solution. I even copied the wow folder off of my desktop because I am not having any issues on my desktop...wait...that is not entirely true. On my desktop, after I downloaded the patch tuesday, I have notices many ui changes. For example, my bartender has shrunk it seems like. I have no idea why. I really did not mind, it did allow for more game viewing.

Minus my technical difficulties and stubbornness, as usual I chat with some of the fine people out there that play wow and are on twitter, as in ElJeppy, Bidcar, Aprillian, Ashayo, just to name a few. I am @mohalen if you want to follow and watch my sports twitter spam :)
so, in tweeting with Bidcar, I think it will be fun along with what we did in our wow week we can say what our best and worse moments of the week were (in game or out of game, whichever floats your boat).
I know you will guess what was my worse thing of the week! yes the laptop wow failure, but I have to also give 2nd place worse moment to the next phase, the portals and elementals were, disappointing as Bidcar has mentioned. We may be in the minority but I was having more fun doing the usual leveling thing.
My best moment of the week was when I read that they will be increasing the leveling from 71-80 by 20%!
My Druid-mage pair are now 75 and having fun as usual. I thought I would start questing in Sholazar but I was wrong, you have to 76 it appears. I have to quest some more in Grizzly hills and I realized I have not done the wrath event. I think I have to do that before the expansion right? I am not sure but I thing that is going away.
Well something I noticed in my travels to Sholazar, I had my mage following behind my druid leaving Dalaran and they both kept of phasing in and out. I have not started any quests in either zones there.
I have no idea why this was happening and why?! Needless to say it was a bit annoying and they would keep losing each other. I have this addon: keep follow (or something like that) it basically doesnt break follow unless you give the command to do so. It works well dual boxing.

That is all I have this week. Oh our Icc raid may try the Lich King again, we shall see. We are still missing a few raid members and after a failed attempt last week with some pugs, many of us would rather wait until we can run it with at least 8 guild members.

Have fun everyone and for the WOW!

Special Cata Beta Preview from Eranth

Hail and well-met, friends!

I twittered at Aprillian to ask if this missive would be alright to send, and she gave permission, so if it goes south, it’s all her fault. ;-)

First, let me say I’m going to try to keep this review as specifically spoiler-free as I can.  I’ll try to talk in general terms to give you an idea of how things go, but I don’t want to give too much away.  If you want more details before you get there, I can give them, you just have to ask me to share.

With that said, let’s be off!

Chapter 1 – 80 to 85 Content
I played from the Horde side, of course, and started with bringing my main over to the test server and proceeded in a way I thought would be ‘normal’ for me if it were live.  My intention, of course, was to do that and report bugs along the way.  There are three main quest chains or directions you can go from the start, Underwater, Underground and Mountain Top.  I picked up all three of the start quests, but stumbled off towards the Underwater section.

Of course, as you’ve seen already, the new graphical updates are pretty keen.  And the underwater is no exception to that statement.  While I’ve been working on the Beta, I’ve let me game card lapse, so I haven’t seen what the 4.0.1 content looks like in the regular environment yet.  I understand there are still a few bugs in some of the underwater areas that I was seeing in the Beta.  I hope that gets sorted out and corrected before 4.0.3 goes live.

Unlike the fine Aprillian, I don’t have a high-end iMac to run things on.  However, the 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo laptop that I’ve had for a couple of years now with 3G of RAM and 128M video card seem to run the game well enough still.  The new part of the program that senses your horsepower and graphics works much better in this version.  It only allows me to access the two lowest graphics settings on the slider bar in the video settings.  Even with the next-to-lowest setting, it runs rather well, and is moderately peppy.  I’ll be curious to see how things look under load with lots of people standing around in an area like Dalaran.

Chapter 2 – Underwater
The underwater content was the buggiest part of things that I ran into, as a Hunter.  There were issues with sending my pet to do my bidding, and he’d just reel the mob back in, slowly but surely.  Or, he’d go out there and then just come right back, sometimes dragging the mob with him, sometimes just by himself.  This seems to be related to having an X, Y & Z axis on which characters, pets and mobs move in, opposed to just the X and Y of things going on on-land.  This was probably the biggest bug I ran into.

As for content, I felt like they’ve done a very good job putting the quest lines together, making it pretty straightforward about how the string of quests it supposed to play out.  While most everyone will say that the Beastmaster Hunter is Easy Mode for soloing, there was still some thought that was required to get through things.

The story line you follow, takes you all over the underwater area, bit by bit, piece by piece, with very little back-tracking going on.  The first half is about survival, but the second half is really some very good content that takes you back in time to learn about some of the past, and helps you understand why some things are the way they are now.

Wrapping up the end of the storyline, your character participates in a video cut away which leads you to the end dungeon/raid.  None of which I’ve participated in, as I was pretty much soloing everything.  Overall, I like how they put your character in the final bit of story at the end, even though it’s pretty much a cut-scene that you’re watching.

Chapter 3 – Underground
The underground portion of the quests was a little buggy getting into, and I had to reset my client after dying while entering the content.  However, it’s during this content that we find out what Thrall is doing, and why Garoush is in charge.  (No, I’m not going to tell you too much more about that, unless you ask me.)  In my mind, I like how they’re making that shift in leadership, even if I prefer Thrall to Garoush.

While in the underground, we’re dealing with what is left behind after Deathwing has popped out with all his hardened plating.  Again, here the story line is very concise and linear.  From A to B to C to D.  In a few places they give you several sets of quests you can run off to do in different directions, but the ‘red herrings’ are simply short two or three quest chains that you’ll end up doing, even if you come back to them and then go off in the right direction of quest chains.

Here we’re also exposed to the cult that’s been corrupted by our friend Deathwing, and seen how they’ve been twisted to helping get us the Deathwing of today.  Additionally, we get to do some heroic deeds to save the world, as well as partner up with some of the Ancients from way down below.  Some helpful, some not, others mostly indifferent and would just be glad when we’re gone.

While the cut-scene for this one isn’t as epic, to my thinking, as the underwater one, it’s not bad either.  I like their continued use of cut-scene like work.  There’s also a new dungeon/raid here, which I also did not get to do any of the content for.

Chapter 4 – Mountain Top
For this last bit, we travel to the top of one of the mountains, previously off limits.  Here we find interesting things, including the fact that half the mountain is on fire!  Again, the follow thru here is very good with linear quests.  I recall only having to double-back once, but that was basically to check in before I was sent off to another area to continue the quest chains.

On the mountain top, you garner the help of several ancients, as well as infiltrate the cult whose been in league with Deathwing.  There you stir up some trouble, get them to wholly trust you, then use that trust to rescue an important figure.  With all that set right, you’re able to play a key role in getting a foothold where we can strike at the heart of Deathwing’s right hand guy.

Again, all of this content was solo-able, without being required to group up, save for the dungeon/raid that’s at the end of this content as well.  The cut-scene in this leg of quests integrates very well, and there’s a piece about two-thirds of the way through that really made me sit up and smile. They work hard to make you feel like you’re a very key part of the story.  They make the story very personal to you.  You’re epic! You’re heroic!  You feel like you’ll be on the short-list when it comes to replacing Garoush.

Chapter 5 – Wrapping it up
Finally, to put things together with a little bow, I have to say I really like the way they’ve made is straightforward to quest, very linear.  No quests running off all over the continents, just one after the other.  You can sit and run the chains easily in succession, or you can get in and run a few quests, get back out.  There were absolutely NO multi-character quests, you could solo all of the content.

The use of cut-scene-like sections that include your character make it feel very personal for you the player, as well as for the character.  While all three legs are tuned so that you can go any way as level 80, I would save the Mountain Top section for last.  To me, it seemed the most epic for the character, more personalized.  The other two sections feel much more related to one another.

For me, I was able to just do quests and hit 85 just a few quests before the very final few quests.  There wasn’t any need to go grind out a lot more mobs than what’s involved in quests.  I haven’t extensively fooled with professions, so I can’t really speak to them, however what little I have seen leads me to feel like there isn’t going to be a lot of grinding there either as long as you’re paying attention to those skills along the way to 85.

The one downside I really came away with was at the end, after the last quest chain was finished, I’d reached level 85, I went back to get my last level of training, checked out my last new skill, then sorta looked around and wondered, “Wow…that was sorta epic.  What’s next?”

Epilogue
Well, again, I asked Aprillian if I should send my review on the Cata-Beta, so if everyone is worn out, you’ve had to pause, go have a drink, a little nap and come back to finish this, …it’s all Aprillian’s fault! ;-)

But, in all seriousness, I think folks will enjoy the upcoming Cataclysm content.  While I’ve been busy the last couple of months working on the Cata-Beta, I’ll probably soon be picking up a new game card to get back into the regular game.  I understand there’s a little bit of content that’s leading up to the Cataclysm release, and I’d like to see that.  And while I’m usually online during the day, and not in the more busy evenings, I do miss seeing folks online, both with AIE and with Ctrl-Alt-Wow.

Finally: Always remember, don’t ever forget – Aprillian, be sure you closed the coffee mug. :-)

“Be well…”

Email #1?

Good afternoon.

I was doing some research on the company Trek Alliance on NPros.com and discovered that it was no longer in business.

I then went searching for reps that were with that company and came upon your email here:
http://ctrlaltwow.blogspot.com
.

My question is, have you moved on to another company?  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Larry

Hi CAW crew:

I just had to write after hearing Janine's email in episode 188 where she talked about getting a MacBook Pro for $5000, like she's worried if this is enough computer to play Wow.

So, Janine, all my techie friends tell me that, for a video game, WoW doesn't really demand a lot of a computer.  And I'm the proof.  I'm playing on a six year old Dell with a Pentium 4 processor and a cheesy video card I got at Best Buy (four years ago) for like a hundred dollars.  I think the machine originally came with 500 mb of RAM and I doubled it to one gig.  Woooo, does that sound like awesome power?

Sure, I've got the video settings turned way down, but the game still looks nice.  And, seriously, even if you have money to burn, I wouldn't invest $5000 in a laptop because laptops get dropped, desktops do not.

Now if I had $5000 to burn I'd spend 2 or 3 on a desktop designed to be very very upgradeable and then I'd save the rest for buying upgrades in years to come.  And, just imagine, you'll have plenty of extra cash if you decide to buy a few dozen sparkle ponies too.

But that's just my two copper.

Happy Hunting,

Agruvona of Terokkar

Hello CAW crew, Majrpayne here again.  It's Majrpayne only this week - Blitzkriegg and the other alts are on hold for now, I would really like to get Kingslayer BEFORE Cata comes out, and the Major - my Pally tank - is my only toon even close.  Trying to get through ICC-10 with Pugs is frustrating, and we wiped on Rotface last night 3 times before realizing that one of the DPSers that was not on Vent, also wasn't reading the text chat, and wouldn't run to the outside when he got a little slime attached onto him.  Ah well....

I am worried about El Jeppy.  I was horrified to hear that he was violated for 68,000 gold!  Wait - SIXTY-EIGHT THOUSAND GOLD! I have trouble imagining that.

I waited all week to hear more - did they find out if the thief was a hacker?  was it someone El Jeppy had talked to on the phone? Most important, did Blizzard do anything????

And in this weeks podcast - the subject was completely not discussed - instead, El Jeppy is drinking, destroying children's easter candy, wants to talk about Vegas whore-houses and is working on some side-project.....  I am very worried!
C

I hope El Jeppy is O.K. - and please let us know if you've gotten any money back.

For.... El Jeppy?
Majrpayne, Blackwater Raiders

P.S. There were a few audio glitches when El Jeppy was plugging his side project, and, even after listening twice, I really didn't understand what he was talking about.

El Jeppy there are no legal bothels in Clark county where Las Vegas is. However they are blegal in other countys in Nevada. I drove on I80 from Salt Lake City to Reno for 5 years, there are legal brothels from Wells NV to just outside of Reno. No I have never been to one. The "ladies" who work there are always getting on the CB and trying to get us Truckers to come in. It's pretty funny to see how some of them respond to bieng asked if they do "that thing in trade chat that can get you banned" you were talking about last show. Well time to go now love the show, keep up the great work.

Hello Control, Alternative World of Warcraft crew:
Aprillian, The almighty empress whom we must obey
Vershna, The deity that must be worshipped!
Jeppy, The Sovereign who must be idolised.
And Ashayo! The man himself who can single handedly lift a thousand beavers with one hand!

It's Mattdiox I hope you're all well.

I decided to write out the email this week because I am no where near as good as Juuno at Monologuing out of character. So here it is in all its . . . stuff.
Coming back to WoW is a strange thing, especially when you are straight away engrossed in leveling again. I'm not saying it's bad it's just strange.
The new talents have -it seems- boosted my DPS. I didn't take note before hand so I am guessing they have gone up due to the speed I kill monsters. Is 1200DPS good for a level 77 Shadow Priest?

While I was away I read a book that sort of takes the whole culture of MMOs and puts it all into a really funny story. If you have heard of Zero Punctuation then that doesn't actually effect it really. The auther is Ben 'Yatzhee' Croshaw who makes Zero Punctuation.
I thought it was really funny and decided to recommend it to you guys.

Yes I am still with Claire. So whoever is still in the pool is still in it. She hasn't stolen me away from WoW, I in fact only see her at weekends and the odd evening during the week. So the only person to blame for my not playing WoW is me. I just haven't had the will to play. Though I do now so everything is all right!

I am glad you all enjoyed Nac and hearing my voice. Now all you need to do is go to the Otaku No Video website on 7PM Est 9pm GMT to see what I look like.
Although it has nothing to do with WoW I thought you guys as podcasters would find it a little interesting.
My Podcast partnered with the Otaku No Video youtube channel. We appear on each other's shows and promote each other. But what we thought is the Anime podcast community is similar to the Anime community itself. It's fragmented. How can anime become popular in the Western World if the community is so spars?
So in an attempt to spread the word better. Myself and Brent from Otaku have decided to contact as many of the anime podcasts we can and try to get a round table going. All working together we can help spread the word of anime better.

Anyway, that's all the news I have for this week.
One last question.
Would you like me to do Ghoul store regular or Nac? I can't do both because I don't have the time and I would rather not switch between both.
Oh also, Would you prefer it if I spoke my emails? I dunno if it will save time or not.

Lots of love, potatoes, priestly awesomeness and some extreme wall of text powers!
- Matthew

P.S Ashayo I know you have a female character, can you help give me a reason as to why I play one too? I do it in all my video games where I can choose. I don't know why but I just do.
P.P.S I saw a contortionist on the way home from college last week, it was neat.
P.P.P.S Jub Jub!
P.P.P.P.S What zone are you most looking forward to exploring once it has been changed in Cata?
Px5.S Juuno can I have an internet cookie?

Yola JAVA J,

I threw in the extra J just in case Junno is there, or would it be J JAVA?  Who knows... Anyway, I have a few questions regarding RAF and multiboxing; I'm seriously considering becoming "one of you". Question 1: does the exp gain and level granting start with the free trial or when the second account is bought/activated? Question 2: I believe RAF lasts three months?  Can that be activated on the second account with a pre-paid card?  I'm thinking yes, but just checking. Question 3: does anyone know if Blizz will do the same deal they did on black friday last year?  That would help  Love the show and thanks for any help.

Hey CAW crew!,

Iceflow and Caoboi here to tell you how another week has been going for us.  As far as our mains go, our raid group, Not In The Face, is on our way to get another title and achievement.  The Herald of the Titans Achievement in Ulduar.  That's the one where you have to kill Algalon with nothing higher than 226 level gear and 232 level weapons.  And Algalon only hangs around for an hour after he spawns and the achievement is going away after Cataclysm comes so we are on a definite time table.  Of course I had deleted all of my gear at that level so I was feverishly farming ICC regular instances for gear.  I finally managed to get it all.  Caoboi was a little better off as he had kept some of his gear from that time period.  We'll be working on it for the next couple of weeks so we'll keep you updated on our progress.

As far as our alts go, Caoboi's Shaman is level 63 and mine is level 72.  But they have both gotten put on hold for, what else, more alts.  Caoboi race changed his warrior from an orc to a Tauren and it has renewed his interest.  He is level 66 and he plans to catch him up to my shaman so we can quest and instance together in Northrend.  As for me, I have started a....warlock!  This is the class that I can never seem to play more than 15 levels but I'm determined that Icefel is going to stick around.  She's now level 9 and it's very very easy.  Maybe I can learn something from Aprillian ;)

I like all the elemental and cultist quests that have been going on.  I make sure to do them diligently on Iceflow but my alts don't really get to them.  I think I might even enjoy them better if I actually read the quest but I don't really have the patience for that.  I can't believe that Cataclysm is so close!  I'm very excited as I know you all are too.

We are having a blast playing WoW as well and I agree with you Aprillian, if you aren't having fun, you are doing it wrong.  Caoboi wants to add in that he's always looking for tips for warrior tanks if you all have any.

Well, have a great week in WoW and see you all in game.

Iceflow and Caoboi

Email # from Bidkar

Greetings Aprillian, Ashayo, Jeppy and Vrishna,

Bidkar, master of boogie here.  A few weeks ago, I bought the Savory Deviate Delight recipe after waiting for nearly two years for it to drop.  Now Bidkar can do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight.  Of course I am referring to the ability to dance like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever since I can be either a human ninja or a kitten loving pirate.  Speaking of kittens, check out Big Blue Dragon's videos of Petunia.  Petunia is one of the cutest kittens I have ever seen.  The cat versions Aprillian and Vrishna are pretty cute too but the videos of Petunia make me laugh every time I watch them.

Bidkar has been working the auction house in between dances and has been fairly successful.  I was able to purchase the 310 speed for five of my 80's .  I didn't buy the 310 for the death knight for right now.  I like the death knight much better now, but I know I won't be playing her for months so what's the point in tying up the gold when I could play the market?

After several weeks of farming ore in Outland, I decided to go back and start leveling a toon again.  I picked my human warlock Ashcroft on my home server because I wanted to use my heirlooms. I find that I have grown accustomed to the pace of leveling they afford hence I am reticent to level without heirlooms.  I am extremely spoiled, I will freely admit.  Ashcroft has leveled from level 27 to 65 (almost 66).  I am tentatively planning to move her to Winterhoof with her heirlooms once she hits 80 so I can work on my toons there.  That will leave me with a free spot for my goblin rogue.  I was so disappointed that Blizzard isn't planning on giving us additional character slots.  Ten is not enough as you well know.  I guess it could be worse, so I will be thankful for what I have.  The new water looks nice and I can land on it, so I can be thankful for that.

I also have a nice auction house story to tell.  A couple weeks ago I was browsing the auction house enchants to see what was popular currently and I came upon two high level enchants that were priced for 90 silver.  I bought them on buyout so I could return them to the owner because I knew he had underpriced them by accident.  I could relate to the situation because a few weeks earlier I had done the same thing with a dragon's eye.  I kept an eye out for the fellow for the next few days but he didn't show.  A few days more I had just about given up when to my surprise he showed up standing right next to me in Thunderbluff.  I asked him if he had listed the enchants for 90 silver by accident and he said he had.  He said not to worry about it, but I told him I bought them so I could return them to him.  So I gave the enchants back to him and went on my way.  A couple minutes later he chased me down by the bank and gave me a Lil Bombling to thank me for saving his enchants.  I was so excited because I always wanted one of those but was too frugal to spend that much gold on a pet.  He really was a nice guy, his toons name was Laien.

I just thought I would tell that story to balance out all the other stories of people being silly about loot in dungeons etc.  I think most people are nice, we just have a tendency to notice and remember the unpleasant ones.  I try to remember the nice people I meet and forget the rude ones.  Just makes life a bit more bearable I think.

I hope everyone has a great week!

FOR THE HORDE and for the alliance!

Bidkar and his Savory Deviate Delight

P.S. My whole family uses the word "reckon" and we aren't hillbillies from the deep south.  We live in Michigan.  Maybe it's a Michigan thing?

Email #6 from

Hi guys
Been a while since I emailed you and I really wanted to tell you about this crazy thing that happened to me the other day. Sorry for the Jeppy size wall of text but I really wanted to do this story justice.

I was flying around on my level 76 Alliance Druid on Barthilas the other day, minding my own business questing in Zul’Drak when a level 80 Kingslayer Horde hunter flew up to me. I immediately flew high into the air so he couldn’t dismount and shoot me from the ground. The hunter followed me up nice and high and did the usual /spit, /slap, /chicken at me. The he dismounted in the air, Shot me a couple times then activated his engineering parachute...It only took a few seconds for his serpent sting to kill me and it was very disheartening when my corpse plummeted past him as he lazily floated to the ground.
Now Alliance are heavily outnumbered on Barthilas and the horde are merciless, so getting ganked is nothing new to me and I don’t usually get too upset, but I must admit I was pretty angry as I was doing the corpse run. Unfortunatley my body had landed in the middle of an open courtyard with only one set of ruins in range to ressurect.  This must have been rather an obvious spot to res as I only managed 2 or 3 steps before hitting the trap the hunter had left hidden in some grass,  which one shot me and sent me back to the graveyard....

I was really raging at this point, I wanted to reach into the screen and throttle this hunter, so when I got back to my body I didn’t res. I Afk’ed and got a drink and a bite to eat to calm down a bit. I went back to the game 10 minutes later and managed to res and fly off without any trouble.

It wasn’t more than a minute or 2 later that the NPC in the Amphitheatre of Anguish yells out over the zone that some dude was starting the event. The name of the challenger wasn’t the hunter that had just ganked me but I had this funny feeling he might be there so I decided to fly over and check it out. Sure enough I was right and the hunter was in the pit DPS’ing the first boss. He was helping his Guildy friend a level 76 warrior and must have been feeling pretty confident as he didn’t even have his pet out. Now I would never normally mess with the other faction when their doing a quest, it’s just not how I play the game. But I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t even think twice this time. I immediately landed outside the pit far from the hunter and changed to Boomkin spec. I dotted up the tank and only had to cast a couple of wraths and he died in around 10 seconds. The hunter immediately got aggro and the boss rushed over to him. I don’t think he was too sure what was happening because he dithered for a few seconds and then tried to run away.  I jumped into the pit and dotted him up then spammed moonfire on him as he was running. I think at this point he realised what was happening as he turned back to start shooting at me but luckily the boss killed him before he could get a shot off. The boss despawned as soon as the hunter died and I immediately changed to Bear ran over to his corpse and sat on his face, /LOL’ing at him the whole time. To add further insult to injury I even got my make love not warcraft achievement by /hug’ing him before he released.  Then I logged out.

It was absolutely beautiful. I was laughing so hard in real life my wife had to tell me to shuttup so I didn’t wake the baby.  Only problem is im scared to log back onto that toon now. I may have to consider a server transfer lol.

Have any of you guys ever had a similar situation where youve managed to turn the tables on someone ganking you and gotten some delicious revenge? Or have you ever been a bit naughty and been the one to gank someone else (although you all seem far too nice to do this to anyone).

Anyway thanks for a great show I never get tired of listening to you guys. Hope Juno can join you more often I love hearing her on the show.

What a Lag it is

Hello all,
hope everyone is doing well.

Since Hallows end ended I have not logged into wow, WOW!! Well not on purpose, just a bit of life getting in the way of life and wow.
I am not sure how you all are but some times when I come home from work I just want to crash on the couch and watch tv (tele if you are from Jeppy land :)) or even sleep.
Exciting stuff huh!
Well I did get a chance to finally log into the game and wow was it laggy.  I was in Dalaran but I am usually not laggy there.
I noticed some new things in Dalaran, like the Archmage Antonidas, a cool hovering statue.  Also some cool blue flowers I did not notice before.  I was trying to find the elemental quest, I was lazy so I didnt look online, so I was on my rocket riding all around Dalaran.  I ported to Org and was riding around Org.  I noticed hovering lamps I assume in Org, which again I have not seen before.  It is the little cool things that make the game cool :)
Well of course (just as in real life) I took the long way to find the quest giver where most Org quest givers are, close to the entrance as you all know I am sure.
I quickly noticed a level 83 character, I thought it was another player but of course that is not possible; it was an npc of course! He is a Troll named Earthcaller Torunscar, from the Earthen Ring?! The server or the actual ring?! Im so confused!?
Well I started the quests and finished it on my priest first.
To my surprise, in my travels (on my priest) I finished the Nesingwary quest line and achievements, funny and strange.  I had that quest for along time.  With all the quests I made over 150g in no time! good times :)

One other note, when did Garrosh replace Thrall in Org?! I know that was going to happen, but did Garrosh already take Thrall down? Just wondering.

It is always good to hear all of you, Aprillian, Vrishna, Ashayo, Senor El Jeppy, and to chat with you on twitter or facebook, also Juno and other emailers/listeners.

Please have fun in and out of game and For the World of Warcraft!

Hey CAW Crew! Been listening to the show for a long time now and figured it was finally time to send you guys an email. I've been playing WoW for about a year and a half now, off and on, and I actually just got my first 80 like 2 days before the big patch dropped! I am so excited! Unfortunately, I've hit some hard times lately, and my subscription time ran out and I haven't been able to do anything with my fresh 80 :( On the up side though, as you guys know Blizzcon just passed, and while my girlfriend and I were unable to attend, we did get tickets to The Raid documentary premier and Blizzcon after party, and it was so much fun! I even got to hang out for a while with the Wych and Stompalina after the party, it was so cool! If you guys get the chance to check out the film, do it! It was awesome, a big Grats to Kevin Micheal Johnson for putting out an amazing film about the game we all love. Anyway, I feel like I'm rambling, so I'll let you guys go. Thanks for the amazing show, don't ever stop!

Thanks and Lok'tar,

Hi all at ctrl alt wow grizli here or mcwild as you keep calling me. An update on our wow house of fun.
Not only have I been running heroics I have started another alt with refer a friend. My wife got the new account as I wanted the rocket. This make it her 3rd account now,I have 2 myself then our 2 sons have one each and daughter in law as just got her own through refer a friend too.  Yep that’s 8 accounts in the family. And apart from 1 son all in one house/room when we play. I have started using a prot pally for tanking son using a rogue for dps wife as a hunter and daughter in law a pally healer. When we can catch our other son online he has a hunter too. We are all lvl 30 ish. Not sure tanking is for me I like my 80 hunter but still getting used to new patch etc so seem to play my many alts more than my 80. not getting chance to play much at the moment due to work. But you keep me entertained while I am there listening to your podcast along with the boe folks too. Took my 80 shamen out for some heroic goodness before patch hit and got the drake mount drop. Only problem with that is 5000g for the flying skill after selling my bank stash of everything I managed to get it and now can fly around on a dragon. Duel spec for healing and elemental. Not tried healing a dungeon yet but trying it out in pvp and doing ok. If I can keep them alive, dungeons should be easier.
So with tanking and healing I am trying different things which all make the game new and challenging. Have played my lvl 52 rogue in pvp too and all I can say is very very broken and he is not very well off gear wise.
Having fun too levelling my boomkin who is now lvl 62 flying around on his rocket. At least if my passenger complains I can go into flight form and watch them hurtle to the ground.
Well keep up the podcasts loving the show reminds me of my own house when we are all playing together.
Grizli lvl 80 orc hunter(he was a dwarf)
Grotsnik lvl 80 orc shaman (not only was he a she but a drenai too)
For the horde I have found my home

Ps Raphael our grandson plays too at 4 yrs old he loves running around and swimming. He has just found out about flying on dragons too. Much to our sons demise and armour bills when he dismounts in the air.

Thanks martin aka grizli

Hey guys.  Just started listening about a month ago on stitcher. Just wanted to talk about how I play wow.
My 14 year old son and I both play and we both have issues with alts. Kinda funny, he dinged 80 yesterday on his dk and within a min he is like should I start working on my mage or my rogue. haha.
I have had to make an agreement with my wife that I will only play when she and my girls are in bed. So I get small amounts of sleep now. But I am having fun with ny 3 80s and working on a 56 rogue and ny new favorite my 69 pally. Just noticed the contest and could really use an authenticator. My wife gets very pissy when I talk about wow so even to come up with an extra ten bucks for one is a hassle. Ty guys and I am really enjoying the show.

Email #A from our favorite WoW Couple

Hi CAW aka JAVA,

Iceflow and Caoboi here for your weekly tandem update.

Caoboi is feverishly playing his shaman that I mentioned last week.  When I said he started at 25, I meant he started at 25 at the beginning of that particular day.  No refer a friend for him.  Last time I wrote, he was level 37 and he is now level 52.  He did the Cataclysm phase 1 quests that are in Orgrimmar.  Those quests give you 55% of your level (without RAF) and that includes having heirloom gear.  So he encourages any alts you have that are not at full level to do those.

Speaking of the phase 1 quests, I was so excited that it was starting.  We rushed on our mains Caoboi and Iceflow to do the quests.  It all seemed to very exciting...until we got to the end.  I figure I'm not spoiling anything to say it ended abruptly at Garrosh of all people.  Big let down but I know that the next phase of quests should be more exciting.  I just thought the build up was awesome, and then the end was blah.

I've also been playing my shaman in Northrend and even though I am dual specced resto and enhancement, I find myself playing enhancement the most.  I LOVE that spec!  I wonder if I will ever heal on her again.  She's level 72 and I am enjoying questing in Borean Tundra at a leisurely rate.

We have been thinking about RAF'ing our toons on JubJub and Winterhoof.  RAF is just so much fun but then again, Cataclysm is coming so I know I won't be RAFing on other servers when I could be playing my main.

I hope everyone is just as excited about Cataclysm as I am.  I am itching to raid the new content and as much as I enjoy the journey to the end, I'm excited about raiding.  Caoboi is excited about the expansion but not as much as I am yet.  He has to have the box in hand before the full excitement kicks in.

I can't wait to get my Cataclysm CE in hand.  We're both taking naps that night to prepare for the 3am server turn on.  Well talk to you all soon.  Have an awesome week.

Iceflow and Caoboi

Hello, Everyone!

I am loving the show, as always. Thanks for the laughs and good information every week.

I have an old MacBook Pro, and my play experience has been sad since the patch. Time for an upgrade! I'm not sure whether to get another Macbook Pro, or get a PC laptop. I would prefer MacBook, but only if the gaming experience is as good or better. I'm not proficient with hardware at all and would appreciate advice. I'm probably not the only listener interested in upgrading before Cata.

What do you each of you use and recommend? I know Aprillian just got a new MacBook. Please tell us about it. What specs did you get? How is it working with the patch? Any lag or issues? Anything you wish you got but didn't? I checked out the MacBook Pro 17 inch, and the base price is okay at about $2,300, but when you start adding on the extras like better memory and speed, the price shoots up to $5,000 and above. Yikes! I'm not sure which extras will enhance gameplay and which do not matter. This will be a huge purchase for me, and I want to get the best I can without wasting money.

XOXOXOX, Jeannine

For the Alliance!

P.S., I do not need a prize. Your great show is prize enough!

Guess what JAVA?

My daughter's hunter hit level 17 tonight and I've fully embraced tanking with my Death Knight. I am absolutely LOVING being a tank. It took a little bit of time to get over the anxiety of fail-boating and being kicked, but I overcame those worries after successfully tanking Halls of Reflection, twice.

Man that's a test of a tank's mettle ...

Other than tanking things with my face, I haven't had any luck on the mount front. No headless horseman mount for any of my toons this year, the Raven Lord still eludes my rogue and my DK's attempts for a Swift zulian Tiger are more desperate than ever.

Once I get my DK fully geared out I promise to spend more time on Winterhoof. For really reals. I'll be turning my DK on Winterhoof into a full-time tank for folks in the CAW CAW CAW *slaps himself* guild.

Until then, for the coffee spillage!

MOMOmomoments

Hello all,
hope everyone is doing well.
I missed emailing last week and I am sorry about that.  I am glad you are back to Sunday recording this week.
Since I wrote to you last I have been to Blizzcon and some other wow things to report to you.

You have heard a lot about Blizzcon already so I wont repeat the same things.  I will just briefly explain my experience there.
First of all, if you are able to go to Blizzcon or comicon, or anycon, please do so; it is an experience to have. To contradict myself, after going once to each con I would be fine not going to another one (well maybe Blizzcon).
It is fun and at the same time such a pain; so crowded, long lines.  Those are a few cons of the cons. After waiting 2 hours to get into Blizzcon, the open event started out pretty tame and ended with a nice big bang of Geeky goodness and Mr Metzon man (I know I have butchered his name so just excuse me please).  My friends and I, who are also my guildies and one is our fearless guild leader, we started with the Diablo III panel and the AWESOME Demon Hunter!  She truly looks just unbelievable.  I so wish we could have a hero class in wow named Demon Hunter, now tell me that would not be epic.  How can you go wrong with dual wielding crossbows!  The game (Diablo III) just looks unbelievable. I cannot wait to play it if im still alive since they never tell us when it may come out.
Still on day one of Blizzcon we stayed in the main hall for some wow panels ( I think it was the cinematic and Dungeon), which were also great.  If I may give out some pointers, always make sure you have water bottles with you and some snacks.  The prices are crazy price but the lines are the issue.  The food lines were a minimum 30-55 min, the Blizz store line was a min hour and half, the bathroom lines OMG! For men it was at least 30 guys in line, just utter crazy! I am not sure if Blizzard realizes but the people that play their games are majority of the male version.  I cant say they failed if the bathroom accommodation because I just should have gone to the female bathrooms; so remember that next time you go just go to the open bathroom no matter the gender :)
I wont give any spoilers because it is fun to just be hit with the expansion when it comes out in 1 month! WOW in 1 month I will be sick from work! oops
Ok on we go to day 2 and before I go on I need to mention a few other things.  Prior to the wonderful con, I had somehow messed up my left knee and the entire con weekend it was just so painful to walk or stand around and of course that is all we did!! Also, no matter what phone you have or device, make sure you have back up power sources and back up to the back up.  My phone ran out of battery even though I charged it there a few times ( I was just using it none stop). My camera also ran out.  They do have battery powered devices you can use to charge any device you have so if you can I would say invest in that, I wish I would have.
Day 2 was the QQ day I call it.  There were some normal panels we went to but the memorable ones were the 2 QQ events; no there were not called the Q&A it was the QQ or let me complain about the wonderful games you make and I pay to play it! I think Blizz could have managed the QQ sessions a little bit better and of course as I always say and believe it is a 2 way street; people need to stop being selfish! Why cant people go up there and ask one question!? You know even if it is a bad question ok ask your stupid non game related question.  It was just unbelievable how people go up there and make it their own personal soap box to complain or comment about something that in my opinion only pertains to them or maybe 1% of the wow players!!! CRAZY TALK!
Ok I will get off my own soap box and you know I never understood that term, "soap box". I have never seen a soap box so how can I stand on it!?
Onto the costume and dance events, and wow were they fun! I wish I was able to do what they do or make the time to make awesome costumes!  If you are able to, what costume and dance would you do?  I, hmmm it is hard to answer this questions, so may choices.  Just to pick one which is so hard to do, I would not mind Illidan or the Litch King I guess for the costume and the dance, I am partial to all the horde ones :) what can I say they are fun.
The closing ceremony was fun but to tell you I was really just ready to go home as it was so hard to hobble on my bum knee; the day after the con I did not get off my couch!
Hope you enjoyed that bit of mocon of blizzcon.

About my wow the last 2 weeks; our guild raid group has moved onto the King of the Litch kind!! Wow it is an awesome fight.  We are only through phase 2 and working to take him down! as soon as we are able to. If you have not already check out the fight videos on wowiki or you tube, it is really awesome.  Blizzard deos their job if you did not know.  The mechanics, strategy, what to do, not to do, jump, move, ahhh!!!! Good times!!!
For my Druid and Mage dualbox pair, they are at 74 still and just quest grinding away in the Grizzley Hills.  For some crazy reason I queued up for random dungeon while I was questing last week and as always in the low 70 levels I got the dreaded Azrol Anoob, ok what ever it is called, the AN dungeon.  I dont like that because it is just annoying for me.  Ok back to zoning in, I quickly said in party chat to give me a few seconds as I needed to switch my Druid to resto spec. Ill give you one guess on what the tank did!? Yes, as I switched specs the tank has already pulled with one dps.  I have no idea why!  So of course the snide comments start; I say just wait a few seconds so the healer is ready and the tank is talking about how I am a noob, learn how to play, and my favorite: "when you learn how to rez rez me, in the mean time ill be back".
I just left the group because it is not worth the 33000 xp and the loot to play with idiots.  For me it really isnt. If it means for me to just quest or grind by just killing mobs I will do that.  As we have all said over and over, it would be nice if we were all human beings and would think of others playing this wonderful game however I know tht is impossible in some cases.

Wow I have emailed you another book! I will end it soon dont worry.
One quick non wow comment, if you play civ v, they have a map of Azeroth you can download now which is pretty cool!
The Walking Dead started on AMC if you like the comic you want to check this show out.

Oh and on another momoment :) we are going to go see Pink Floyd (well ok just Roger Waters) Friday after Thanksgiving in Vegas at the MGM, which will be AWESOME!!!!

I thank you as always for your podcast, we do greatly appreciate it and you do make our listening time that much more enjoyable.

Have a great time in and out of game and please remember to treat others as they treat you, so yes, kick that !@#$!@#% tank out of the group if he is complaining or just leave the group.

For the CAW!!! CAW! CAWWW I say! :)
