Email #1 from MattDiox

Hello everyone my name is Matt and I'm a rehabilitated WoW aholic.

If you guys haven't noticed, there are tons of new MMOs coming out around the Xmas period.
Aion for one looks amazing. And there are a couple others that look pretty awesome.

I have two questions for you three/two (I never know who will be on)

#1 What upcoming MMOs would you most like to try?
#2 Would you ever considering leaving WoW to play a new MMO? ((Accept for Ap who could just open a new sub. If you can pay for ... 4? accounts then you can play another MMO ;) )

P.S Even though I have left WoW I am making sure I have spare time to listen to what seems to be my number 1 podcast. (Alot of the podcasts now seem to be regurgitating old jokes and not talking about themselves in WoW and more about issues in WoW. You guys are very down to earth and real for listeners. So don't worry while my Templar is soaring the skies of Atreya I will still be listening or at the least thinking of you guys ;)

Email #B from Koi

From Koii again...
Hey guys, I wanted to say thanks for reading my mail on the cast, you guys are great! I was curious... If someone wanted to play with you guys in game, and didnt have the funds to transfer characters or anything what would be the easiest way to just hang out and have fun with you guys. Im sure you never get this XD... But thanks so much for everything and its so cool that I won... I never win anything and when you said my number I was so happy and shocked... You guys are top on my podcast rotation and I look forward to every monday morning with the ctrl alt crew. Thanks for everything, and if it would be possible to recieve the month of WOW to fuel the altoholic addiction that would be wonderful! Thanks again guys.

Email #2 from McWild

hey folks.. Mcwild here again (its better than some of the names i have had over the many years)
you reckon i should have a warlock as isaacs character. ok i can go with that.. but wot race/faction.
i have been lvling some alts this week my rogue to 47 my shaman to 74. as well as this i have been using my hunter to go into wintersgrasp so i can get the heirloom items for my alts and gained enough honour to get my pvp chest leggings and bracers. my main fellhand the druid is like a forgotten cousin at the moment as he is just used for tanking things for our guild. plus i get more fun from playing my hunter. (the rihno is a cool pet)a dwarf one at that. i like the gadgets he has with engineering 450. have been working towards getting the mek chopper but not sure now, its a lot of gold wich i have 3.5k out of 13k needed. wich could be used to kit out most of my alts with shiny blue things.. wot do you reckon is it worth waiting and seeing if expansion makes it cheeper to get.after all i have 100% mount and the turbo copter for flying.
finally got jeaves other day too so i now have my own butler to look after me too.
son number 2 resubscribed this week too after seeing his brother catching up on lvls and that his mother and myself are well on our way to our 3rd lvl 80 (he as only one)
well best stop there otherwise it be a short story and not an email.
all the best Mcwild aka fellhand

Email #C from Kyle

So I finally decide to log onto my 80 and putz around after a month of inactivity (too many alts, not enough time). To my suprise I find the orphan lady in dalaran. And she has a quest for me. Now I thought I had missed the new wolvar/oracle children's week addition. But hey she gave me the whistle and I took my adorable wolvar orphan around and completed the children's week months after I thought I was able to. I'm so glad I did because that wolvar orphan was soooo CUTE!! So either you can still do the dalaran children's week quests if you haven't yet, or I got extremely lucky.
Happiness abound,
--Kyle
P.S. Yes here in Minnesota we say "hide and go seek" instead of "hide and seek" (or at least that's how it was when I was younger). We also play "duck duck grey duck," not this "duck duck goose" thing. And soda is pop.

Email #3 from Maelador

Subject: Hello Ctrl Alt WoW
Hello Aprillian, Ashayo and Glanthur.

Just wanted to send a shout out to you. I play both Alliance: Mage(80), Shaman(80) and Horde: Death Knight(80), Hunter(80). Occasionally, when I want to take a break from the high end task of doing dailies and refreshing my stash of herbs... Umm.. For alchemy, of course. I hop onto two recent additions to my character line up. A level 24 Night Elf Rouge and a level 21 Blood Elf Warlock, just so I can re-live some of the old school questing and leveling. Mainly, just wanted to say what a great job you're doing with the show. It makes my long drives, during work, seem so much shorter and enjoyable. Keep up the good work and thanks for the hundred+ episodes of greatness.
For the Horde AND the Alliance.

Email #D from Deaths Keeper

Hello all Deaths Keeper here I'm sad to say my Undead Lock Voohoodoo will soon be deleted... But he will be reborn from my level 70 human Lock(Thesummonerr) and given the same name. Finally the toon I spent over 26 days of game time playing will be put to good uses for the Horde! I'm writing a back story for him and will post it on the AIE wiki. Its sooo hard to delete a toon that I just leveled to 30 but the new Voohoodoo will be more help in kicking some Lich King butt and since Blizzard is finally getting back to caring about warlocks I'm jumping back in with both feet. A big help I've found to get from 70 to 74 is to run the Isle of Quel'Danas dailies and now that BG's give EXP you can go from 74 to 77 running AV in between quest then go right to the Argent Tournament for 77 to 80. Ohh don't put me in the drawing I got my Authenticator already just keep doing great pod casts. To quote Dills Ctrl Alt WOW "I love you"

Email #4 from Bidkar

Greetings Glanthur, Ashayo and Aprillian,

Bidkar the mage here. Bidkar did dailies of course. He also got an epic necklace. He just needs epic head, legs and one trinket now. Still no polar bear mount.

My friend started playing WOW again back on the pvp server. He got the drake from the Oracles and the polar bear mount the next day. Seems fair since he's been trying forever. Blizzard must have decided to give him some welcome back presents. I got him a figure print of his rogue. It was pretty sharp looking, but I won't get a figure print of my mage because I don't like the way the robes look. Just my opinion, others love the robes.

I started a guild for some of my alts. They are now proud members of "We Eat Bachelor Chow". My tabard is blood red with a pic of teeth. I sure wish Blizzard would let us have more that 10 slots like you guys have said. I don't like having alts on 4 different servers. Very messy. I would like to have all my alts in the same guild. I use the guild bank as an armor storehouse.

I leveled my paladin from 65 to 70. He's in Northrend now, flying away. So much easier to quest with the flying. The Tome of Cold Weather Flying is the best 1000g I ever spent. I leveled my warlock a couple of levels, but she's at the point where the game jumps the appropriate level quests all over the place and after questing on a mage, all that flying on the taxi service gets on my last nerve. All the other alts rested since real life has been rather intrusive this week.

I may have a tip, don't know if this is something everybody already knows, it may not even be true, but I'm just putting it out there. I bought a new computer for WOW because I'm a big geek and any reason for a new computer is a good reason. Anyway, I didn't want to go thru the installation torture session, so I just copied the Warcraft folder over to the new computer. WOW doesn't put any hooks into the registry so I don't have to actually install it. When the new patches came out, they wouldn't install though. I googled and apparently this is a problem some people run into when they just copy the WOW folder over. I didn't really care and just copied the patch files over from the old WOW computer and thought "good enough".

A few weeks later, I wanted to play on the PTR realm. After I had installed the program Blizzard put out for the PTR, my WOW on the new computer started to automatically update again. I don't know if this was just a coincidence or if the PTR program installation had anything to do with it.

I had another story, but this email is going on way too long! Have a great week!

For the Horde and for Glanthur!

Bidkar and his many alts

P.S. Don't read this on air, but I think you guys should give Glanthur the murloc. I think it would bring some cheer to his life. I know what it's like to have a parent who is not feeling well and the stress that it brings. A murky would bring a smile to Glanthur's face and I think everybody wins then. If you need donations to substitute for the murloc, I would be glad to donate.

Dear Ctrl Alt WoW Crew,

First things first, thanks for putting together a great podcast. Along with Bind on Equip, yours is one I listen to on Monday mornings to get me through the day at work. While I don’t consider myself a true altaholic, I do have 10 full character slots on the Shadow Council server. Granted, one is a twinked Hunter for WSG, another is a name holder for when the Worgens are available in Cataclysm (I plan to change my main to a Worgen Druid) and a 3rd is a bank alt, the other 7 are characters I play all the time, including 3 level 80s (Paladin tank, Priest healer and Hunter) on the Alliance side.

I’m also an East Coast guy and am local to Aprillian and Glanthur (I live in Massachusetts). As I stated above, I play on the Shadow Council server which is 2 hours behind my local time, and if it weren’t for all the friends I’ve made on that server, there are certainly times I wish I was on an East Coast server for raiding. Wondered what your thoughts were on this subject because I rarely hear anyone discussing it. Sometimes trying to schedule a raid that is amenable to everyone in the guild is tough.

To keep it short, I’m hoping I win one of the next round of prizes. I’m jonesing for a 30 day game card so I can try an experiment. My younger brother quit WoW before Wrath was released and I keep telling him he doesn’t know what he’s missing, but he is strange in that he hated soloing in WoW more than anything and that is what drove him from the game even though he enjoyed it. I think the highest he got a character was to around level 40. I love soloing and want to tempt him back into the game by reactivating his account for 30 days, powerleveling a character to 80 (I just finished 71 – 80 on my Hunter in 6 nights of play, roughly 18 hours, 90% in Alterac Valley) and then turning the account back over to him. Once he has a character that is 80, he can group for dungeons and raids and not have to solo if he doesn’t want to. Even if the temptation doesn’t work, he’d have a character ready for Cataclysm when it is released. He seemed intrigued by the news that Azeroth will be changed.

Fingers crossed and keep up the great work on Ctrl Alt WoW!

Agravane

Shout Outs & Thank You

Momoment

Hello all,
Hope everyone is well and I am still catching up to my podcast listening after being away for almost 2 weeks.

Hope Aprillian, Ashayo and Glanthur you all are well and your families too.

I do have to tell you all something...come a little closer.....closer.....TO CLOSE!!!

I HAVE BEEN RAIDING!!!
CRAZY HUH
And it has been fun!
I am still an altaholic don't worry but on my priest Moheal that I transferred to Feathermoon to join a friends/coworkers guild I have been running Heroics as often as I can and have been to pretty much all the raids for the first time ever!!!
No it is not all lolypops and sugar, or whatever saying you would like to use.
We have failed on several of the attempts but I am ok with that as everyone needs practice.

As for my priest, I would like to only heal but I have had to dps as well at times (I hate shadow spec!)
So I have actually tried and read up on some other blogs/sites that will hopefully improve my heals/dps.

Any pointers you have?

I am discipline and shadow. I think I have ok gear and I do ok healing. I hate when I lose a patient, I mean a group member or miss a heal by just .0001 seconds :(
My spellpower is about 2100 without all the group buffs. I know I still have work to do to be superdupermohealer!

And of course one bad thing is that I have not had a chance to work on any alts or even play my main characters on Balanzzar :(
Yes sad sad.
I have been playing Xbox, that is another reason for lack of attention to my alts.

I have to say your guest last week was great, Hypnatoad (sorry for the misspelling) and I checked out the Addicted podcast, they are good, thank you for the recommendation.

Well, it is time to leave you all be and thank you for your great work and hope you continue to get more listeners and emailers.

Have fun all and enjoy your gaming.

  1. Greetings from Iron Forge, Silver Dome here on the Kirin Tor US Server. I wanted to let Glanthur know he has many Alliance listeners. We also listen to those Hordies he allows on his show.

I just finished sampling the wares at Brewfest and being in a somewhat mellow frame of mind, I wanted to let all of you know how much I enjoy your podcast.

I like hear real people playing the game rather then posing as experts. I am looking forward to Glanthur's new lore feature.

I also like the little in game references to pop culture Blizzard keeps throwing in. For example the wonder woman reference Arko'narin makes when she puts on her equipment in the Rescue From Jaedenar quest in Felwood. Have you ever thought about a segment on those in your podcast?
