Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 045 Play Your Way

Episode 45 - Play Your Way

What We've been doing

Aprillian

Glanthur:

Re-Entry

OK, It's that time of year again -- when everyone goes to the mall. So, work has really picked up. And, because of that I have very limited time for World of Warcraft. Now, I know a lot of people think that there's ALWAYS time for WoW, and you're right. However, last week also marked the release of Mass Effect, an Xbox 360 RPG that I had been waiting patiently for. New always takes the place of old, but I find that WoW is like your comfort foods. You may want to try snails, you may even like snails, but grilled cheese sandwiches will always be delicious. But, going back into WoW after some time away can be disorienting. Here are some things that I do to help get me back in the saddle again (which ever mount it happens to be):

- Challenge allies to duels outside a capital city. This will help you refamiliarize yourself with your hot keys and keyboard layout. The point is that it's OK to die. Better than running to your corpse across STV.
- Look over your quest and remember "The Tubes" are a great resource. Get your bearings and remember all those quest items and XP you were lusting after
- Go shopping. Nothing gets you back in the mood than a little spending spree at the AH. What good is fake gold if you don't spend it. Splurge and get those blue leggings you have been craving. If you're low on gold, then spend some cash on materials for professions. Leveling your professions also helps get me back into the swing of things.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 044 Even Numbered Episode, Time to visit the Trainer

Episode 44 - Even numbered episode, it's time to train!

What We've been doing:

Aprillian
We decided to start over on a PvP server, as alliance.

Patch stuff
Guild banks are cool. Perfect for people with alts. No longer do you have to remember who is holding what or use Rpgoutfitter.com. You can store stuff in the guild bank. Not too much room so you won't be storing silly stuff. It's going to make all the difference for true altaholics. If you have 3 accounts like I do and a bunch of different alts, it's worth it to invest in a guild and guild bank.

Tips:
Eggs, start collecting small eggs for the Holiday season. You'll need them to make cookies. So will everyone else. You can sell them on the AH right at the start for a few gold.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 043 - So Much Questing, So Little Time.

Episode 43 So Much Questing, So Little Time

Hollow's Eve is here and there's so much to do. But sometimes RL intrudes. Sorry for the Hiatus. Timing and colds prevented us from recording.

Hallow's Eve = good fun

Aprillian:

I felt like doing some triple boxing. I had been dual boxing here and there, including some double dual boxing with Ashayo in the Hinterlands. It's nice because we both understand the intricacies of operating two characters at a time. This week I took Aprillian my Level 33 Belf Warlock, Rilfire my Level 51 Orc Hunter and Auntrillia my level 60 Troll Hunter to Felwood. It's very tricky because at level 33, in an area where the mobs are 49 to 52, Aprillian aggros everything in a very large area. But the beauty of bringing her with the higher level hunters is that while standing back and offer auxillary assistance with one of her demon pets, she accrues Timbermaw Rep. Oh and a bunch of exp. By the end of the week, she was neutral with Timbermaw and had dinged a level. Rilfire is now friendly as well. Auntrillia didn't get much because at her level, she only gets 2 points of rep for every 10 that Rilfire and Aprillian was earning.

New Mail Rules - I was afraid they were going to affect me.

Someone says in trade they needed a Deadly Blunderbuss. I whisper back that I have one for 2g. They whisper back, there's one on AH for 1g. Okay then buy it. He said something about not being born yesterday. Well to me 2g for an item I trained to craft and gathered the materials and then stored it in my inventory is not a lot of money.

Glanthur:

* Been trying to play Arlaerus some. I just missed Alliance so much. Ironforge and Stormwind are just such great places to hang out. Did some grinding and questing in Stranglethorn Vale as well.
* Grinded the good-old Bloodsail Buccaneers. Even killed one of the captains (all while soloing).
*

Do the alliance get turned into Horde characters? Seems the answer is no.

Are you on an RP server? Tell us your experiences in RPing.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 042 The Answer

Episode 42 - The Answer

What is the question?

Welcome to listeners who found us via Podcast Alley.

Aprillian:

Got a little big hung up on the Brewfest. I want the Ram for Rilfire, level 51 Tauren so she can't leave the Kodos behind. She and Auntrillia went back to the Hinterlands. Tons of Quests there
Quea rode the Barker Ram almost all the way to Crossroads. Then rode it back to Senjin Village.

Making cool videos using the built in video capture for the mac.

Glanthur:

Didn't have a lot of time to play. But, I did manage to level Palanor, Mortlente, and Arlaerus. Arlaerus is now level 44. Only 26 more levels to go. Ugh. Why does grinding have to be so tedious some times?

Episode 41 Show Notes

Brewfest http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/brewfest/
Ram Racing
Lots of fun, takes some finesse.
Barkers Wanted
Mystery Hunts

Aprillian:

New Hunter Twink Orc Quea, now 7.
Dual boxed with Rilfire, level 51 Tauren Hunter and Auntrillia along with Ashayo who had Jekle and Hiide. We went to Jentha A'Lor for

* Horde Crest [50+] Separation Anxiety - from Huntsman Markhor in Revantusk Village
* Horde Crest [51+] Wanted: Vile Priestess Hexx and Her Minions - from wanted poster in Revantusk Village
* Horde Crest [51+] Job Opening: Guard Captain of Revantusk Village - from wanted poster in Revantusk Village

Hearthstones - good to use in Starting areas.

Mac Video Recording - Having lots of fun with it. The quality is great

Glanthur:

Yeah Brewfest! I had a lot of fun doing these activities with Arlaerus. I also found a potentially cool new guild. I won't name them until I'm sure they're up-and-running, but it things are looking up. I got Palanor to level 13 and Arlaerus to lever 43. One more level until the next skill buying spree for both of them. I also started a new Undead, Warlock named Mortlente (slow death in French). He's going to be the antithesis of Arlaerus, who is Mr. Goody-goody on the Alliance side. I also finally got to go exploring in Uldaman. I love the "Map Room". What a great ode to Indiana Jones! Oh, and the pink elekks...those reminded me of the scene from Dumbo when the mouse character (whatever his name is) got drunk and say pink elephants.

I you haven't already, install LightHeaded. It's a great time saver when it comes to playing WoW full-screen. No more alt-tabbing to a Web browser to check Thottbot. All of the coords and quest discussions are right there.

Comments in Blog:

From Darrell
"Also you dont need to say "we'll be right back" and have music cuz for us listeners, time does not pass when you hit the pause button. Just pretend you took a breath between sentences."

This done more for the chapters than really for the break. If someone wanted to find something later, they can go back to a chapter and search from there.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 040 - Alts Tips and Stuff

Episode 40 Show Notes - Things that help

First we would like to apologize for the poor sound quality in the previous 3 or 4 episodes. We were experimenting with internet recording and obviously we haven't worked out the kinks yet. So we are back to recording together in Aprillian's "studio".

Second, someone asked if we had message boards. Well we aren't really geared for that. But, if you would post a comment in this blog, we will respond to it. In fact, I think we will be commenting on thing from the podcast in the blog, so check out the comment section.

What we've been doing:

Glanthur - I leveled up my BE mage (Palanor) and I am really digging a mage. He's extra squishy. I think that even my warlock and my priest are more resilient to damage. To compare and contrast, my paladin absorbs around 60% off all damage. My mage absorbs about 15%. Yeah. I also decided on herbalism and alchemy for my professions with Palanor. I'm excited to get to 20 since then I'll be able to start going into instances. It's going to be a lot of fun since my mage is already shaping up to be one of the highest damage-dealers I've played yet. I know this is common for mages, but I'm just not used to actually killing MOBS before they can even reach me. Thanks Frostbolt.

Aprillian - Had a personal tragedy, lost a really close friend, Azeroth helped make it bearable. Spent some time working on leveling Pri, my level 17, now 18 Rogue Twink to be. It was very satisfying to lash out at things in Azeroth to help deal with the pain of losing someone.

Addons we find helpful

MobInfo
Guild Mail
macaceupdater

Appropriate professions for alts

Don't start out in Engineering or Enchanting.

Voice Chat is here but not enabled - doesn't do much for alts.

Key binding for addons, very nice.
New icon for disenchanting.

Ctrl Alt Wow Episode 39 - Back to Basics

Episode 39 - Back to Basics

What We've Been Doing This Week

Glanthur:

My goal for this week is to start getting all of my lower-level alts up to at least level 10 (and that all-important, first skill point). I figure that doing that will help me get out of the frustration I'm feeling by not having a nice Alliance guild for Glanthur and Arlaerus to join on the Earthen Ring server.

Also, finally got the PTR Test Realm up and running. Created a pre-made hunter, paladin, and druid. It was cool, but after only a few minutes I was overwhelmed. It's like winning $300 million in a lottery drawing. All of a sudden you have all of this stuff, and you're not sure how to use it properly. You think you know what you want, but you feel empty, like nothing of it was actually earned.

I feel like rolling a mage - a BE mage. I'm stuck on the Alliance side without a nice guild for Glanthur and Arlaerus. However, on Horde side, I have Ashayo and Aprillian. So, hopefully I'll be able to level Palanor up quickly. I'm thinking Frost Mage. =)

Aprillian:

Clefthide leg armor obsession.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 037 Casual vs Hardcore

Glanthur is out of town, and Ashayo graciously steps in to cohost.

Casual vs Hardcore?
Fun vs. Method?
Just what constitutes a casual player? Are there different layers of casualness? Aprillian plays around 40 hours a week. But still plays in a casual manner. How does a casual casual player play.

What we've been doing this week.

All of my alts have been sending greens to Aprillian and Veyle to DE. Have also moved some alts around to use for storage. Bought Enchanter's Satchels in Thrallmar, 20 slot enchanting supply bags for several storage alts. They are BOE but worth it for the extra room.

I've re-specced Jekle to resto. He was feral, but he hardly ever gets into actual battle, and in tough battles I was running out of mana too quickly to heal efficiently.

I tried it out in Stromgarde last week. We went in there to knock over all the quests with Albinobull, who is a mighty fine warrior in the guild, and Jekle was cruising with healing.

Even though Ashayo is exalted with the Netherwing, Ogri'la and Sha'ari Skyguard she still does some of the daily quests because they are both fun and good money earners. You get about 12g per quest. And they can take as little as 2 minutes in the case of bombing runs.

And Ashayo has also been taking Asheal, which is my level teen-level undead priest, through wailing caverns. I'm sure Blizz has it in for me. When I was taking my rogue through deadmines to get the leather defias chestpiece, the cloth vest would drop - about 14 times in a row. And now that I'm running a clothy through wailing caverns, I'm getting mail and shields and other stuff useless to a priest.
Anyway, I got her to 20 last night, so that I can artisan tailor training. Hopefully I can level her a bit further during the faire next weekend.

And I've levelled Hiide to 300 alchemy so he can start doing arcanite transmutes for the faire.

And I did some farming with Ashayo. One of our guildies is trying to level enchanting, and needed some nightmare vine for making wizard oil. And that's only found in Shadowmoon valley. Farming with a flying mount is alot easier, because you can literally drop in on the node, and if you draw aggro, take off again before dismounting. So you know if you have to clear to get to a herb or ore.

We close with Episode 5 of Ashayo's Dual Boxing Tips. Thanks Ashayo.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 036 Guilds: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Show Notes Episode 36 Guilds - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

The show's subject was prompted by an email from a listener on how to deal with guild drama.

What we've been doing.

Ardrion, Level 28 was attempting to complete some quests in 1k Needle but ends up dying too much, so he brings in Aprillian.
Used Auntrillia to go to Winterspring and Moonglade to get enchant recipes for Veyle
Speaking of Veyle, she's my level 37 Rogue and for the first time in a long time, I played her. And I solved a problem that had been plaguing me. How to get her lockpicking skills up. I had done the boxes on the boat in Ratchet and the ones in Stonealon Mountains, but looking for them took time. Then I heard all this talk about picking pockets and it wasn't until Rilfire took Veyle to RFD and she started pickpocketing the Quillboar there and getting a bunch of worn lockboxes, that it all clicked.

Ashayo's two characters Hiide, a hunter, and Jekle, a druid have dinged 40 this week.

Hey Aprillian and Glanthur,

I was wondering if in your next podcast you could talk about guild drama and how to handle it. Some people panic and go crazy at the thought of people leaving (like in AIE) and some just remain calm.

Hi, I'm Marco Aka Dorom from the WoWBOX podcast which will be coming to iTunes soon. I play on the Eu realms on the Shadowmoon PVP server and I listen to your show every week. I find your podcast more cheerful than others and I always have a smile on my face while listening to it. I have 2 questions for you. The first one is, how can I make good money in WoW while being a low level (Blood Elf Paladin level 16)? I always find it hard to make gold fast. Also, can you give me some advice on starting up a podcast and getting it out there?

Keep up the good work on the podcast and keep those episodes coming.

FOR THE HORDE!!!!

From Marco

PS> Sorry Glanthur.

Aprillian: Money is funny in WoW. When you are low, it seems like you never can get enough. But then once you get some, you get more. At level 16, you aren't suppose to have a lot of gold, unless you have a higher level alt. I started on a server, and I picked a profession I liked, two gathering professions, mining and herbalism. And I just started selling stuff on the AH.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 035 Working Together with Friends from Afar

Show Notes Episode 35 Working Together from Afar
August 25, 2007 Sat

What we've been doing
Auntrillia in Outland
Rilfire in WC with Relaq - Relaq is now unrested and tried to take her to SFK to level. I now think this is the wrong aproach
Veyle made some Green Iron Hauberek - blue chest mail - I need money for all of my characters. Sometimes you go for the loot and the levelling and of course the fun, but then sometimes you just need gold to train. With many alts, sometimes resources are plentiful and sometimes you find yourself a little short. As we've said before, there are so many ways to play this game.
Arlaerus on his Mount

Remodeling, what fun. I have to admit to being a little lax when putting up the show. The show takes about 5 to 7 hours of time outside of the game. Once the podcast is recorded, I am anxious to get it up and going. But now that this has been brought to my attention, I will try to put a little more effort into the processing part. I listened to this episode and did what I could to adjust the volume, I hope it is better.

Glanthur and I discuss what we've been doing. It's a casual conversation and we don't really try to stick to any serious guidelines. If there's something related to Alts and mid level game that you would like us to focus on, drop us a note at ctrlaltwow@gmail.com or glanthur@gmail.com and we will address in our upcoming show notes.

Auntrillia is enjoying Outlands to a degree. We touch on the differences of being Horde and Alliance in Outland. I made a small video comparing the Frostwolf Mount to the Raptor. Auntrillia spent hours in AV to get the 50 marks to get her mount. Check the show notes for my Utube video. I will be updating.

Emails, Lovely Little Emails

Hi,

My main is a level 70 rogue on Uldum named Hap, and I have a level 11
alt on Earthen Ring (in your guild) named Tuskface (I hate that name).
Anyway...

I think I said on the forums that there were only a few good podcasts
and the rest were junk. Yours was not one I'd heard before so I gave it
a listen. I have the following suggestions:

Your volume level changes during the show. Some parts are fine, but
toward the middle things got very quiet and I had to turn my volume all
the way up. I assume you must be editing each show. Before you do
this, go through and normalize sections of the show, not just the whole
thing at once, so that they are all at about 98%.

It sounds like you are probably working from notes which is great! But
(doesn't everyone have one) each part of the show could be a little
more defined, then stick to each topic then move on to the next. If you
forget
something, do it at the end then edit that part into its proper
place (but don't mention that's what you're doing - no one will know!).

Content is good, and you seem to know your audience well (people with
alts under level 40). This is great and not always easy to do. I'm
glad there is a podcast for lower level players - it is something that has
been missing from the WoW podcast universe.

Not sure I would have reused the audio from that Australian dual-boxing
guy. I don't like his segments. I would rather have heard you two
summarize his thoughts, or had your own guest.

So I think you're doing great! Keep up the good work and I will keep
listening to your Podcast along with The Instance, World of Warcast, and
WoW Chronicals.

Darrell (Hap, Tuskface, Bearbutt, Dauria, and others)

We hope we addressed some of Darrell's issues. We are open to suggestions, so please keep them coming

Email No. 2
Hi Aprillian, Just wanted to tell you about some problems I had getting your show. I was one of your contest winners from a couple months ago (the flaming tabard from the tcg) and at the time regularily listened to your show by downloading it from Digg, onto my Mp3 player. But then, all of a sudden, your podcast started to be posted onto Digg in a format that my Creavtive Nano couldnt play...Acc or Mp4 I believe it was! I dont know too much about audio files, just that it wasnt Mp3 format and couldnt play. But then, just last week I was poking around on your website and found that you can get just about any format of audio file, for any of your podcasts right there! So I just wanted to say I am in the process of listening to the last couple months that I've missed, and I wonder if other people know that they can find a huge variety of various audio files from your website. And also wanted to mention that I like your new co-host also, you two really radiate a true passion for the game unlike other podcasts (*********) not to mention any names. (But listen to that one sometime....they almost spend their whole time during the podcast complaining about various aspects of the game) Ron

Thanks again for the nice comments, and the information.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 034 What Did You Do When the Server Downtime

What We've been doing:

Aprillian and Server downtime - Earthern Ring was down for 48 hour maintenance. Drove me crazy. I have alts on 4 other servers, but none that mean as much as the ones I have on Earthern Ring. So I made a resolution, I'm not going to put all of my eggs in one basket.

Aprillian levelled herbalism so she can get flower for Treshel.

Glanthur:

I've been working on Arlaerus. He's half-way through level 38. Once I hit level 40, I'll put him on hold and level up some of my other alts for a bit (see "Alt Advice" below). With the 48 hours of down-time and preparations for a major life event coming up, WoW has (unfortunately) taken a little bit of a back burner. I'll soon be back in the saddle, so to speak.

Email - None so far

Dual Boxing w/Ashayo (2 episodes) - it got cut off, so we have a corrected version and a new version.

Alt Advice - Visit alts:
You can get caught up with one alt. But if you are a true altaholic, you will want to keep all your alt connections fresh. This means spending one hour a week logging into all of your alts on all realms. You might find one that catches your interest. Or learn something. And you will have some fun.

THINGS WE DID DURING SERVER DOWNTIME!

Arlaerus - did research on what gear he should use for his protection tree. Found out what the different armour suffixes are. Gorilla = Strength + Intellect. Eagle = Intellect + Stamina. Bear = Strength + Stamina. Boar = Spirit + Strength.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 033 It's Not All About the Levelling

Episode 33 It's Not All About the Levelling

What We've Been Doing....

Arlaerus:

I found a nice bit of writing in the game. As a BE, I had to help an undead NPC create a "new plague" and one of my quests was to test this plague on a human's dog, Stanley, in Hillsbrad Foothills. Well, as I was questing with my Draenei, Arlaerus, one of the Alliance NPCs said that his friend in Hillsbrad had to recently put down his dog Stanley because it "grew to an enormous size and attacked anyone who came near". Hehehehe. Yeah, sorry 'bout that - my bad. Just shows how in-depth this game is.

Arlaerus is Level 36 now. Almost to 40. I also have maxed out the number of alts I can have on Earthen Ring. =(

Made a new alt - Troll Warrior named Zuule.

Aprillian
Auntrillia hits 60 - I don't think I made a big deal out of it last week, but this is the first level 60 character I've ever had. It just dawned on me that this would have been the level cap back in early January.
Iwari is back in Crushbridge Hold - it was suggested she could go mine mithril in Tanaris. When I said liked being in the cave and having the convenience of multiple nodes. But the next question, but won't she stop getting xp? made me laugh. It isn't always about the leveling.

Play Styles:

Death Knight - What it means for alts - but more importantly: what is it?
If it's anything like Warcraft III, it will be like a very naughty Paladin.

Hey guys, this is orcbreaker again, I know I emailed you once today but I was just looking on wowwiki.com and apparently in the new expansion for wow they are going to be adding a new class that starts off at over level 50 apparently, they call it deathnight.
Don't take my word for it because i'm not sure whether it's true or not but I'll keep an eye out for it again, cya

We talk about twinks and the Wrath of the Lich King

Finding the right vendor for fussy pets can be a right pain.
So what I do is buy up big - buy 6 stacks of fish for that turtle.
But you don't want to have it use up 6 slots right?
No problem, mail it to an alt. Then on your alt, just return the mail.
So then, wherever there is a mailbox, there is food! (There are alot more mailboxes than vendors or banks)

Also, treat your pet with higher level food.
For example, "Striped Yellowtail" says "requires level 35". But that's just for you!
Irkle, my turtle, is only level 33, and I can feed him those. This has the added benefit of having him gain more happiness from the feed pet effect. (You know to always keep the pet happy (green) right? That way they cause 125% of damage.)

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 032 Emails and More Emails

Episode 32 Show Notes Emails

What Aprillian has been doing:
  • Twinking Pri - Networking helped, (guildies, internet)
    • reworking my characters for alliance selling because of mail changes. Putting alliance at Neutral AH and Alliance in Exador on same account. This way, anytime I want something from alliance AH, I can now get it at once. Ally on Exador buys it, sends it to Ally in Booty Bay, who then puts it on neutral AH and my Horde Toon in Booty Bay can buy it and send it instantly to anyone on that account or in an hour to another toon. Consider putting a toon on all accounts in Booty Bay but would take up too many valuable Alt Slots.

What Glanthur has been doing:
Leveling Morion and Arlaerus. Morion has a felhunter now! Not as sexy as the Succubus, but could be a lot of fun? I'm sad about warlocks getting nerfed in the next patch, but I do see the potential of them being really overpowered at higher levels. I'd love to see protection-based paladins have more skills to make them a little bit stronger with their single weapon. I've also been collecting large amounts of enchanting material. Any day now Morion is just going to pop and go up 20-30 levels in enchanting. That will be a good day.

Hey Aprillian and Glanther this is lilthis again, now a 70 Night Elf Warrior, after listening to your last podcast where someone mentioned lightheaded i wanted to suggest another addont hat goes great right along side lightheaded it is called TOM TOM and it does just as the GPS it shows you where to go, any time cordinates are found in ligtheaded or throughout the game you can left click and it will put a nice marking on you map it can be found at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html and really helps, expect to hear from me as i will probable be sending in a recorded audio file this week as well keep up the good work.

Hey Guys its Auho (Ah-ho) again.

Lately I have been playing my level 16 hunter, Jovvi, and I was wondering if you could tell me a few tips to playing a hunter. Since you have mentioned several times that you have a few of them. Also in patch 2.2 Blizzard is adding voice chat for instance and raid groups to the game, what do you think of that? I'm all for it as long as it doesn't create server lag.

Also I am a mod nut so I am going to tell you about another great mod I use called Mappy (http://downloads.curse.com/details/7917/). It takes your mini map and makes it a square. Which lets you see a lot more!! And if you use a lot of mods like I do it makes the buttons fit better around the map.

Have a great week and FOR THE ALLIANCE!!!

From Ashayo

You only learn new grimmoires every 2 levels the same as training.
So each time you train, just scroll thru the grims looking for "requires level xx" (eg 30) when you hit level 30.

Train the current minion, put it on "stay" and walk away. At some distance, it despawns and you get the shard back. Summon the next, rinse and repeat!

Hi, Just listened to 30. I guess I sent my email about 29 to the wrong address... I used ctrl instead of ctr I guess.... strange how my 2 earlier emails got through... oh well.

I haven't used any twinks. I'm interested in getting to 70 and seeing what's what then. Do either of you do the pvp things? Battlegrounds/arenas/etc? I never really cared for pvp stuff...

I agree with instances are fun when you find a good group. I'm doing BRD now (priest) and it is a very tough place. I've been trying to get lock the elite horse quest which has a part in Scholomance... holy cow what a tough place. Still not luck after 3 tries... I find instance interesting when using diff alts... which makes it fresher... you know the layout but you have to adjust your gameplay to you class.
Keep up the good work,
Kurt

PS: I hear the next patch, locks DOT are changing... sigh!

Hi, just finished your latest podcast after spending 4+ hours in SM killing all the bosses there. Other than the staff in the library nothing really drops there for mages. Anyway, this mage is an enchanter. This is my first time with an enchanter. I had my other chars send the enchanter stuff they didn't need so enchanting didn't really cost me any out-of-pocket money. I'm at 225 and now I have to go to Uldman for the trainer. I'm not happy about that at all. I haven't had any lucky getting ported/summoned to BC though that would be the easiest way to go. I tried once to disenchant another's players soulbound item and was unable to. I gathered from the podcast that you can do this? I'll have to try again if that is the case. As far as disenchanting for the group, the shards sell for good money but not sure about the different dust. I guess it would be more money then vendoring the item.
With all my chars I've been in some strange group policies as far as loot. I've had some that you never need no matter what. I've had some that players say "If XZY drops I get it, O.K.?" I find these really annoying... you should need if it is better than what you are wearing, otherwise greed. Most if not all are pick-up groups and some of the players are questionable quality. I think the thought of doing the disenchanting is too complicated for the groups I've been in. I've had players whine and quit the group if they didn't get an item. For example the staff in the SM library: I needed it and so did a shaman, I won the roll and the shaman whined about it and quit the group. I don't get it.
I was in STV in a group with someone who before starting playing WoW decided not to use any outside info about the game. No custom UI, no looking at stuff on the web. I thought it was interesting idea but I would go crazy if I had to do that... I play spellcasters and the normal UI is not good enough for me. I have spells for keys 1 through =, Shift 1 through Shift, F6 - F13 and shift F6 - F13. I currently use FuBar, Auctioneer, WoWKB, Cartographer, MBB and just started using LightHead which give info about quests in a window next to the quest window (avoids having to look up stuff on web). I use MacAceUpdater to handle most of these addons.
Well, have fun playing WoW. I'm still not decided if I should transfer to another server. It took me days to find a good enough group for SM. I don't mind the money if I could be sure the server was better... maybe I'll go to Earth-Ring... lol
Oh, did you notice that with the latest patch you no longer have to wait an hour before receiving items in the mail... YIPPPEEE!!! I love it.
Later,
Kurt

Ctr Alt WoW Episode 31 - Stop Your Whining

What we've been doing....

Aprillian

* Twinking out my twink Pri, level 14 Rogue Orc.
o Running her through Deadmines
+ With Aprillian, level 32 Warlock (for soulstones and summons)
+ With Rilfire, level 50 Hunter, to clear mobs

Stop your whining

Battlegrounds - the truth behind AV and AB.
Twinks are they really bad...?

misconceptions -

Complaining about the AH and that they didn't want to buy a recipe on AH, they wanted to know where to get the drop. AH is overpriced. But then the same person complained that his stuff wasn't selling on the AH.

We got a good review on iTunes! and an email from Auho
Hey guys I was listening to your latest podcast and I just wanted to mention another way to find resources about World of Warcraft. There is a mod called Lightheaded which takes the comments from wowhead and lets you read them in game from your quest log. (Here is the link http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7017-LightHeaded.html ). Thank you for doing such a fun show keep up the good work.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 030 - WoW = The Thinking Person's Game

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 30 Show Notes - The Thinking man's game

One thing about WoW, it does require some thought. It's not a button masher. The choices you make affect your game play. There are many levels of playing

What we've been doing:

Aprillian
  • Twink Fever
    • Pri Orc Rogue - why orc - I like the look of one of the faces and the pigtails
    • Got her to 6 in Durator and then ran her to UC and then Silvermoon to complete levelling, I like Silvermoon.
  • AH FTW - Looking for Twink gear across realms
  • running around having fun
  • Warlock Quests
    • Treshel took Aprillian into Desolace along with a friends two lower level alts
      • Treshel didn't fight or group, just there as a safety net
  • New Monitor Baybee!

Mods for Alts
Character Viewer - let's you see what's in your alts on the same account inventory

Revisit Last week

Why do we love instances so much
  1. Quests
  2. Phat Loots
  3. EXP
  4. Concentrated bunches of mobs
  5. Lore/Storyline
  6. Adrenaline rush
Podcasts mentioned the show.

Twink Gear is Expensive!

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 029 Instances Galore

Episode 29 Show Notes

What We've Been Doing

Aprillian
  • Leveling crafts - there's something almost hypnotic about it. I keep thinking of that game that was played on ST TNG, the one Riker brought back from Risa that rewarded the player when they got a ball in a hole.
    • Treshel is leveling alchemy
    • Rilfire is leveling LW - She got to Thrallmar
    • Getting caught up on making a particular item. Veyle, the BS, is basically a tool
    Ran lots of instances
    • BFD
    • SFK
    • RFK
      • Did a silly thing. After doing all the quest we had

Glanthur
- Haven't been playing my Alliance alts at all. I'm thinking about moving over Arlaerus and Glanthur to Earthen Ring so I can be on the same server. BEs are mean and nasty - very bitter. But, oh so pretty and I love the game art surrounding them.
- Currently level 23, and have a succubus (coolest minion ever!)
- Feel good about Horde now. I like double-dipping
- Not too sure if enchanting is all it's cracked up to be. I'm guessing it only really pays off at the highest levels.

Game play

Auntrillia is level 59 and she got to Outland and saw it and said, this is good. But she has all these quests in "Vanilla WoW" and she wants to finish them. There are two schools of thought on this subject:
  1. You've been to Outland, you've seen the quests out there, they award more xp and more gold. Abandon the legacy quests you have and seek your fortune in Outland
  2. Play all the content you can, so what if you don't get as much xp and gold. You pay to play a game, isn't it more important to have fun

Reputation...is it really that important? I've been playing for a while now, and I know you can get mounts from other factions with exalted rank, but what else is it in for you to get such a high level or reputation?

Thanks to for reminding me to put up show notes!

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 28 Is Hitting 70 All it is Cracked Up to be?

Episode 28

What we did this week
Auntrillia went to Stralholme and ninja's a ring (by accident)
Morion is almost level 14 - how I like Horde and BE's so far....

- Stop and Smell the Roses (or harvest them if you're an herbalist)

Best places to hang that are mob free

Is fishing all it's cracked up to be?

- In-Jokes
- Alliance vs. Horde
Starting Area Favorites
- Stupid Things Overheard
- Most of the episode could be about play styles...
PVP vs PVE?

Email:

Hi Aprillian,

Love the podcast. I've been playing for 1.5 years now and I think I'm getting burned out with the game. I have several 70s on each faction and only log on to play them once in a while. I'm not sure how long you've been playing so my question is why do you still play? What keeps the game interesting for you? If you've only been playing for a few months then the game is fairly new. I've noticed that your highest character is 59 or 60 so you still have a ton of content to explore and experience.

My problem is that once I hit 70 (several times now) I do the same basic routine: get keyed for Karazhan, run multiple instances to get better gear, etc. But what happens when you're done with Karazhan? Of course you go to the next upper tier raid content. It just seems that once you reach the level cap all you do is try to get better gear, which takes a considerable amount of time and effort. It's a long and tough grind to do it.

I really do love this game but it just seems like once I start another alt I'm basically doing the same thing over and over again. Maybe I just need a break from the game and wait for the next expansion.

If I do quit, I will continue to listen to the multiple WoW podcast I subscribe to to keep me well informed while I'm on my WoW hiatus.

Keep up the great work,

Akabeko - Kul'Tiras (US) Server.

Aprillian's Response:
I consider myself a career gamer. I've been looking for a game that could hold my attention. I've been playing WoW since October 22, 2005 and I have yet to be bored. And yes, I do not have a character higher than 59. I've been enjoying myself. Several times I've had invites to join people who were doing the fast track, and it's never appealled to me. It's a lot like eating through a cake just to say you finished. But you've already done that, so let's focus on your choices: (Hope that didn't sound harsh)
  1. Start a Twink - I know we hate them in BG but there will always be Twinks and as the old saying goes, if you can't beat 'em join 'em
  2. Try Dual Boxing, if you can afford it. If you can't get two computers, most will be fast enough to run two WoW Clients at once. If you can't get another account, consider alternating leveling alts and getting two or three going at the same time. Work out a balance, make two gatherers, i.e. miner/skinner herbalist/miner or enchanter; then make one or two just for producing Blacksmith/Engineer or Leatherworking/Tailor and challenge yourself to make it with your own or almost all of your own materials.
  3. Find a really cool guild or start your own and have Events
  4. Or you could stop playing for a while and wait for the next expansion or big patch
  5. Or Start a podcast about WoW, oh boy!
  6. Or you can just say you won and move on

2nd Letter
Hi again,
I thought I'd send a few comments about your last podcast. First, I'm almost 99% positive the anvil/molten station by the TM wagon/seller has not always been there. It must have been put in the last few weeks. Second, I found your guest interesting. There are lots of different ways to play WoW (not that I have to tell you). Whatever people enjoy is my opinion as it is their money.
Later,
Kurt

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 26 Mini Goals

Episode 26 Show Notes

Mini Goals
  • Got Auntrillia to 58 and she's gone through the Dark Portal. It was very exciting. I didn't know how to get there, I felt stupid asking because everyone seeemed to know.
    • For those that don't know, you can fly to Swamp of Sorrows, either from Undercity or Camp Gromgol into Stonard, then go south into the Blasted Land and follow the road all the way down until it splits, take the right hand fork. After you go a little bit further, you will hear and see the thunder and lightening from the Dark Portal. Grab the quest from the guy with the gold exclamation point over his head and then charge through.
  • What else has been going on.

Disparity between alts and how to deal with it.
  • Remembering the different exp you gain when leveling characters of different level. But it's worth it for:
    • Completing Quests
    • Gaining Rep

Email

Thanks Kurt, you brought up some nice subjects to discuss.

I rambled on more than usual. I hope it's a good 'cast.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 025 Am I an Imaginary Friend?

Show Notes Episode 25 - Spring Cleaning

What's been going on:
  • Multiboxing Galore - Triple boxed Wailing Cavern with Ashayo dual boxing.
    • Me on Treshel, Aprillian and Ardrion; Ashayo on Jenkle and Hiide
  • Obsessed with Cooking
    • Levelling up Treshel to 300 and Rilfire to 333. Making choices on whether to keep cooking the items I could make and might not get skill points or passing objects on to Treshel
  • Auntrillia doing silly Crater quests just for fun and buffs.
    • Crystals
    • Bloodpetal Pods to get healing pots
    • Morrowgrain to get weird potions and rep with Thunder Bluff
      • Does she really want a Kodo? At least it will be relatively inexpensive.

Contest and emails
  • Two really good submissions
    • Austin
      • over 40 minutes have past
this is the end of this pod-cast
i love making alts, what can i say
so to all of you, i bid you GOOD DAY.
        • Closing with a gnome cheer, I substitued a Troll cheer
    • Ron who plays a character named Karbiziz
      • "Of all the podcasts I've ever done....this..was the most recent"
  • I've actually decided to go with one I created. But I thank these two submissions. I will be contacting them and sending Austin the upgrade to Burning Crusade key and Ron will get the Landro Longshot Tabard

Friends

  • Someone brought Taverncast After Hours #3 to my attention. http://www.taverncast.com/ The guy running the show did a trial
  • I want to counter his view point. He made several assumption that:
    • Someone being on were being irresponsible, just because he was.
    • No one said anything about being total divorced from the real world
    • Not everyone is rushing to 60
    • His experiment was not a reflection of real gameplay
    • They took a valid and interaction and focused on the worse parts

  • Why do we have friends?
    • To hang out with
    • have fun with
    • help when you need it.
  • How do you pick friends
    • When I moved from an all Black neighborhood to a mostly White on in 1976, I had to make a choice. Do I hang ... I chose to hang out with people I had something in common with
    • In WoW
      • By guild affilliation
      • Needs
      • WoW is less subjective to physical judging (is this good or bad?)

I think the hardest thing for the non WoW players to understand is the complexity of the game. The viewpoint is that it is merely a shootem up game and we as players are spending hours firing weapons and killing things. While there is a large amount of this going on, a lot of time is spent doing so many other things.
  • Interacting with others
  • AH - figuring strategies, doing research.
  • The dynamics change

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 020 Retuning your alt

What’s Going On
• Before we head into the meat of the podcast, I’d like to address some comments about last week’s Special Video Presentation
o Sorry about the sound quality, didn’t realize the battle sounds were so loud
o I use an Iogear KVM switch that allows me to move back and forth between the two computers using ctrl ctrl
o Combinations best suited for dual boxing
• In the video Warlock and Hunter, the Warlock places DOT’s (I kept calling them buffs in the video) and the hunter can autoshoot.
• Any suggestions for other combinations?

Alt Tips
Retuning Alts

I spent the weekend retuning my alts.
• You shouldn’t feel locked into a profession for life, especially with alts. Once an alt is in the upper 30’s or 40’s, the skills they have might not be as useful, or you might have another alt who can do the job just as well if not better.
o Treshel was a miner, but I had transferred in Iwari and she was around the same level in mining. I was hardly using Treshel to mine. I wanted to use Treshel to farm the Scalding Whelplings in the badlands. They drop a lot of loot that’s sellable and they sometimes drop a rare pet Dark Whelpling.

Hello!
I love your podcasts and hearing about your alts.
I was wondering how you felt about younger players. I am only 12 but I love
the game and I'm completely addicted. I was getting annoyed on the
non-roleplay realms because if I told anyone my age I would never hear from
them again, this caused alot of problems while looking for a guild.
I would really like to know your opinions on this subject.
I am a bit sad right now because WoW keeps glitching badly and shuting down
my pc, but your podcast cheers me up :)

Aprillian,

I wish I could say that I'm an alt-aholic, but I'm not. I'm a WoW podcast-aholic and have checked out pretty much every WoW podcast on iTunes. What I can say is that I really enjoy listening to your adventures with your alts. From dual-boxing to collecting 1g, it's fun to listen to your excitement while playing WoW. Your memory is much better than mine, because not only are you remembering what happened to your alts, but you're remembering the NPC and location names with great accuracy.

I know you recognize and listen to the other podcasts out there. Yours fills a niche that not many cover, since there's nothing like listening to personal WoW experiences. Spending the extra time to index your podcast and write up show notes makes it all the better.

Keep on having fun - with WoW, playing all of your alts, and creating a great podcast too.

Thanks,

I just checked out the podcasts and I apologize for the sound of my voice is drowned out by the battle sounds. But hey the beauty of the video is the video.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 019 - Alt Tips and Misc

What’s Going On

I’ve decided to restructure Ctrl Alt WoW. There will now be just four sections:
What’s going on
Tips for playing with Alts
Email
Closing Thoughts

I think Alt Round up will be mentioned in each section. I am doing this because I find myself holding back on something an alt did in the ohther sections and then skipping over it in Alt Round Up as I go down the long list.
Created 2 characters on Lethon, a PvP server.
· I’ve joined Randy Deluxe’s Guild –“Phat Loot Fishers”
Also tried my hand at PvP
PvE makes me feel powerful and strong
PvP makes me feel stupid

What I did this week

Visited Shattrah – Found out in guild chat that you can get a port there with a mage. I logged on to Rilfire on the Baelgun server and did a /who 70 mage search and whispered a few mages. At first I was whispering mages in Shattrath. Then I realized I needed to find a mage near me. I found one in Undercity who was willing to port me for 1 g. Then I logged on with Aprillian on the Baelgun and had the same mage port me to Shattrath. I was in awe.

Then I logged on to ER and did the same thing with Aprillian my level 20 blood elf. I had gotten Shattrath fever. When I showed up in Shattrath, I ran right into a couple of guild mates, Ashoyo and Kalisynth, two awesome warlocks. We set about finding the inn so I could set my hearthstone to Shattrath. Once we got there, they asked in guild chat if anyone wanted to be ported. So we started pulling people to Shattrath inn and it was awesome.

The neatest thing is that there are portals in Shattrath that will take you to the 8 major cities, four for each faction and you can only go to your faction city. This is great!

Decided hunters were more my thing.

Someone in IF asked where I got my hatchlings

Newbie area tip, you can hearth

I know how you feel about trying to explain WoW to non-gamers. I myself have a similar situation. I don't have a lot of friends and I spend a lot of time at work. I'm also a huge fan of anime so imagine the surprised looks I get from people when they see me reading manga or watching something on my iPod. When I tell them about WoW, they have never heard of it and give me all these funny looks. I got so sick of not knowing anyone who shares my hobby, I went to craigslist and put an ad up in the looking for friends section. Three women have responded so far and they all know about gaming and/or anime.

I love hearing from someone else that I'm not alone in this. Thanks for writing.

I submitted the following to The Instance. I’m hoping they will play it on their podcast. If anyone

Greetings Instance Listeners, You’ve caught me killing Ogres in Alterac Valley – I’m Aprillian, a confessed alt-aholic. And I wanted to tell you about a podcast I’ve put together To help me and other satisfy our urge to have and to help organize our many alts. It’s called Ctrl Alt WoW. There’s no end game content, because most of us alt-aholics never get that far, but there are useful tips on how to make the best of all those alts you can’t help yourself from creating. You can find us on iTunes or visit our website at Ctrlaltwow.com. Thanks Andrew, Scott and Randy for keeping the bar of WoW podcast raised high.

What’s Going On

My husband and I had dinner with another couple on Friday Night. I had spent all day Friday on WoW and I was rather excited about the fun things I had done. I mentioned something that happened in the game. To my surprise, the woman of the couple had never heard of WoW and after trying to explain it, she called Online games a “complete waste of time”.

HEY! great show and there is something you need!
I just wanted to start by saying that I love listening to your show. It is great that it comes out more frequently than most other WoW podcasts and with a "little bit of regularity" which is great for me because I listen to a lot of podacsts and I'm always looking for more stuff on WoW. I heard you mention on a recent show that you used only a few add-ons and that most of them were purely cosmetic. I found it amazing that you didn't have one of my favorite add-ons that is almost necessary for alt-freaks like yourself. It's called "Recipe Radar"
and it allows you to see all the recipes that are available for all the professions in the zone you are currently in. Better than that, once you have loaded this program and logged on to each of your toons, it will remember which recipes each toon already has and what level their profession currently is. Recipe Radar will even show you on a mini map the general location of where the NPC that can train you (or sell you) is and if you use Cartographer with it, it will place a marker on your big map as well.

There are even more features that you will find useful in this add-on too and you may wonder how you have been playing for so long without it.

Sincerely,

-Amaging (68 Gnome mage) of the guild Seven Ate Nine on the Khaz Modan server.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 017 The Multi in MMORPG

What’s Going On

Talk about Guilds

First Guild – Everyone rushing to 60 soon fell behind – first taste of drama

Second Guild – One day logged on and it didn’t exist – felt homeless and confused
• Regrouped, got stronger, felt good
• One day we got a message everyone was joining another guild
o Felt betrayed
o
Decided to make a guild of one – Enjoyed it, especially with dual boxing
Then came The Instance Podcast Invitation, decided to try it out. Found out what it’s like to be in a really good guild

Immersed completely in alea iacta est

Did what a good guild member should do, followed the instructions for the guild. This involves downloading and installing specific Add ons. These included:
• http://www.rpgoutfitter.com/CharacterProfiler/
• GEM – Guild Event Manager

Being a Good Guild Member takes work and dedication. The transition from being a Guild of one to one of 1000 is amazaing.

Read the forums for both what’s coming up and what’s going on. It’s also a good way to get to know people.

Speak up in chat, even if you don’t have a lot to say. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and to offer it.
• Aprillian is an enchanter on Earthern Ring and I love running up to people with the Guild tag, inspecting them and then offer them the enchants I can do. Ctrlaltwow is a Jewelcrafter and gives his stuff to Aprillian to give away in similar fashion.

What I did this week

Ran Instances for the first time in a long time –

RFC – Ragefire Chasm – 2 times with some great people from the guild
• I love this Instance
Wailing Cavern – another great run. Got some good loot – finished a quest

Went on a raid to Stormwood. It was so much fun. I put pix up at:
It was exhilarating. There were many of us and as we ran up through STV and through Duskwood and then getting clobbered in the first little town there I think it was Raven Hill

Alt Round up

Didn’t do much on my “Main Alts”. Spent most of the time on Earthen Ring

I’ve been playing mostly on Earthern Ring

I transferred two alts to Earthern Ring, mostly helper Alts.
• Prilfire, now known as Iwari, from Lightenhoof. She was sitting there all alone and I never use her. I had gotten her as high as level 37, she’s a Warlock and has Engineering 247 and mining 238.
• Rillia, now known as Veyle, from Baelgun, she’s a level 36 Rogue with Blacksmithing 269 and enchanting 246.

I won’t be playing them much but their skills will come in handy. It was fun to transfer them over. And yes I paid the $25 fee twice, but it was worth it.

So my new main alts are now:
Pair
• Aprillian Level 19 Warlock Enchanter and Miner
• Ctrlaltwow Level 16 Blood Elf Hunter
o Because it’s a Role playing server, these two have a story. They are brother and sister sent out into the world and they have a character blog, something that was suggested on the AIE forum to help people roleplay better, and it’s a series of letters home. You can find it at http://aprillianer.blogspot.com/

Singles mentioned above and Jajal, replacement for Ctrlaltwow because of his name. Right now I am trying to level him up to 20, so he can do JC to 225.

Banker Alts
• Trexrar, Gruzilla, Wateva
• Wateva is a Blood Elf and I got her to Dustwallow Marsh from Menethi Harbour. From there she swam to Ratchet. She died a couple of times from these things in the water, but each time she ran back to her body, she’d get a little further out and then was almost at Northwatch and she died again, and ended up at Ratchet graveyard and since she was only a level 5, I let the Angel bring her back to life and got on the boat and went to Booty Bay. So I have my dragon hatchling connection going again. Not as lucrative, I think others are catching on but still making money. I’ll have to find a new money maker.

I lost a good friend Steve Soltys, I just wanted to shout out to him the he will always look good to me and that I miss him more than words can say.

I put up a special presentation yesterday of the Lady Sylvanas’ performance. I’m going to close the show with the full uncommented version of her lovely song.

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 016 - Sweet Sixteen and I Got Mail

I got two whole emails

Email #1

Hello!

First, thanks so much for doing the show! I also especially appreciate your taking the extra effort to put chapters, artwork, and notes in for iTunes. :) It's extra work and I appreciate it lots!

My first question is: How do you decide which alts to focus on at any one time? I only have 10 characters, all on the same server, but even that is enough to put me at sixes and sevens sometimes.

When you sit down to play, how do you decide -who- to play?

Second question: Do you let people know who all your alts are?

I do, in that I have a traditional naming scheme for all my characters, which is that they must all begin with "Ab". The story behind that is a bit long, but anyway it lets everyone know, especially in the guild, who's an alt of mine and who's not, and that helps with any guild-related business I may have to take care of. People always know it's me so they always know how to get ahold of me.

Thanks for your response!

Hi Aprillian,

First off, love the podcast. This podcast hits close to home for me because I to have many alts (mostly alliance toons). I have a 63 human warlock, 61 human warrior, and my new main a 37 troll mage on Earthen Ring. I have several questions to ask. First, you mentioned that you dual box and your current favorite combination are the hunter and rogue. What other combinations have you tried? I recently read an article where a guy multi boxed five characters at the same time (Army of Xzin if I remember correctly). Since you play many alts do you have a favorite class overall? I've played most classes up to level 10 (with the except of a shaman which I have not played at all). My favorite class was the warlock (level 63) but I got tired of him and now is retired. Currently, mages are my favorite class.

Second, I'm a big fan of instances (Scarlet Monastary is my favorite pre-60 instance). Do you have a favorite instance? My highest level character is 63 so I haven't seen that many post-60 burning crusade instances. I'm really looking forward to the Old Hillsbrad instance located in the caverns of time.

Lastly, I'm a big fan of mods. Do you use any mods? I use the basic mods such as titan panel, ctmod and kth threat meter. I used to use class specific mods such as necrosis for warlocks.

Thanks for taking the time to read my e-mail,

Ctrl Alt WoW Episode 014 Starting All Over Again

What's Going On

I spent some time "Seeding" Servers with my alts. The Lunar Festival is a great time to put alts up and get Flight Paths. Then when or if you want an alt on that server, then they already have the flight paths.

I wanted a Ravager on my Blood Elf. I figured out a way to get my Horde Character into the Alliance starting area. All it took was some trial and error and some dying.

Episode 13 - Good Thing I'm Not Superstitious

No. 1. What’s Going On
Observations
• Dranei men sound like Worf’s father, is there a connection? Saw the Drainei mounts, very cool
• Tip: If you are near and heading back to the inn you hearthed from and you need just one more space in your bag, you can destroy the stone and get a new one at the end

House Cleaning
• I took all of my alts to their banks and cleaned out their banks and bags. You probably have some stuff that you needed to get your craft up to the current level, put what you don’t need on AH. Make it a fairly reasonable price. If it sells, you’ll have some more money, if it doesn’t, it will be mailed back to you, where you can keep it in your mailbox until you find another alt who needs it or you can use it, or sell it. This does mean you won’t know when you get new mail. But for me, that’s only important on my Banker alts to see if I sold something for big money on AH. You should already be sending all of your big AH stuff to your Banker alt.
• Cleared Out Quest.
o Looked for Quests that were collecting quests and completed as many as I could
o Deleted grey quests unless I needed the rep
Vendor in Alterac Valley – Rizz Loosebolt- I like those out of the way vendors, he can’t repair but he can buy the vendor trash so you can stay out farming a little longer. He’s in the area where the little fake cave is, it’s called Slaughter Hollow, directly opposite the opening to Crushbridge Hold.

Tried LOTR Stress Test
• The character creation is limited because it reflects only what was in the books/movie human –mf, elf –mf, hobbit –mf, and dwarf male. No dwarf females because I guess they weren’t in the book. But how do you get dwarf males without females? I also think you should be a big fan of the game before playing. I read the first book, the Hobbit, and of course the LOTR series is set after that. I couldn’t get into the movies at all.
• Some people were complaining that it looked like WoW, which is ridiculous. There’s a set formula for any MMORPG, people were probably saying WoW looked like EQ
• I didn’t stay on the server very long, but it looked pretty.

You Tube WoW endorsed Video contest, http://worldofwarcraft.com

http://www.guildlaunch.com/
• Great for Guilds, even better for people with alts. I stumbled onto this on Digg.com. It sounded promising, so I decided to give it a try. I was really impressed. For free you get a very well put together and customizable site that includes forums, roster, a calendar and a wiki.
• With a minimum amount of effort, I made a pretty nice site: http://ctrlaltwow.guildlaunch.com/
• It uses an addon on called Guild Launch Profiler http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchProfilerCURRENT.zip

• There are several steps to adding characters that must be done on a regular basis or the info will be outdated. Once the addon is loaded, you have to right click your avatar pic and select Create Guild Launch Profile for each of your characters. If you want to include information from the bank, you have to take that character to the bank, likewise you have to go to the stable master to get all of your pet info. Also open all of your tradeskills, you’ll see a listing of what you can make scroll by in chat. This creates a file called GuildLaunchProfiler.lua which is located in "World of Warcraft/WTF/Account////SavedVariables/GuildLaunchProfiler.lua">. You upload this file on your Character Page and it uploads a whole lot of information up to the website about your character. Now you can easily see the skills, levels, items the character can craft even when you aren’t online. It also conveniently provides a direct link that you can later use to get

No. 3. Alt Round Up

Pril & Zee
• Zee has been helping Treshel with her JC.

Creed &
Ctraltwow
• Creed has been disenchanting the lower level JC that Treshel has been making. He put some of the Strange Dust on AH and made some gold
Aprillian
• Working on cleaning out her Quest Log, picked up the Errand for Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) quest in UC while doing the Valentine’s day quest. This quest requires a trip to Tanaris. Which was great because she had the Wastewander Justice - (Step 1) Quest undone, so she took Rilf
ire with her.
• Also got another coin from the Elder in Un Goro Crater

Rilfire
• Made several Comfortable Hats with the recipe Illia sent her. Ilia paid 16 gold on AH for the recipe, but she’s already sold 2 at 3 gold so I should make my money back. Rilfire did the Errand for Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) and Wastewander Justice - (Step 1) with Aprillian, both she and Aprillian made some serious gold just vendoring the stuff dropped and the money from the Wastewander Bandits and Thieves.

Treshel

• She made the change, dropped Herbalism and took up Jewel Crafting. I spent some time trying to get the gem and mining bags for her. You have to go to Outland to get them. I was in Silvermoon when a 260ish level Jewel Crafter who was upper 60’s was asking what level everyone was. I asked him about the bags, he had one but didn’t realize it was BOE. Then he mentioned he was having a time with JC because he couldn’t find gold. Using Character viewer, I found a stack of gold ore and a stack of gold bars and offered them to him if he would go to Outland and get the bags. Turned out there was only one mining bag and he didn’t realize I wanted the Jewel as well, but I got the mining bag for the two stacks of gold, which was good.
• Also cleaned out some Quest stuff and managed to solo the Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) Quest and the Into the Field - (Step 3) in Tanaris and did the timed quest Tanaris Fie
ld Sampling “Acquire acceptable samples for 8 basilisks, 8 hyenas, and 8 scorpions. Bring the testing kit back to Chief Engineer Bilgewhizzle in Gadgetzan before the power source runs out.” Which I loved.

Theeo
• Didn’t do much this week

Sherinna
• Level 14 Just did the Lunar Festival Quest – She got the 2 for 1 deal with the rockets I tried to do it with all my alts just in case I decide to play them down the road. She had 6 coins so she got the dress and a pack of dumplings

Bankers/Sellers
• Trex
o April got 10 Dragonhawk Hatchlings to him
o Actually got to Darnassus and made Dolanaar his home. Did some quests there
• Illia
o Didn’t sell a lot of moths / the market is down. Did sell a pair of Ogre Kickers Treshel picked up from the two headed Ogre in Crushbridge Hold –d.
o Sold a Comfortable Hat for 3 gold, see where that goes. Someone on I think it was Thotbott said he sold them for 1.5 gold.
