Some of the ways to learn your alt, most are very obvious. But we'll discuss the ones we've used including some pay ones.

Decided to triple box Maradon. This was my first time there and I loved it. There's nothing like seeing an instance for the first time.

Aprillian went to Outland to train tailoring and there was a ! for her. It was Report to Nazgrel, she couldn't get the next quest but she got 4750 for that much, cool. Grinding in the crater.

I listened to episode 58 today while questing on my Orc Hunter and I heard you speak about bad pugs and good pugs. I feel I have to take issue with a couple of the things that were said.

First of all the myth of the predominantly adolescent Alliance is just that, a myth. There are just as many children playing on the Horde side as there are on the Alliance side. I play on both sides. You can easily have a good or bad experience on both sides. That good or bad experience can be brought on by adults or adolescents.

What you have to keep in mind is that even though we all know "it's a game," it requires a great deal of time. It's more of a hobby or pass time than a game of checkers. Time is something of value to almost everyone and should be respected. Though WoW is "just a game," many people become extremely serious about how their time is spent. Some people, in particular children, have limited amounts of time they can play, and as such get really harsh when they feel someone is wasting that time.

Second, we hunters are often some of the worst players in the game. People will call you huntard and boot you on the Horde side just as quickly as they will on the Alliance side. There's lots of us hunters and the vast majority SUCK. Playing a hunter is very easy. Playing a hunter well is *extremely* difficult. There is a reason the word "Huntard" exists.

Few hunters understand the mechanics of their pets, and fewer still actively manage their pets during gameplay. Most hunters use the same pet for everything. I keep a black lion for PvP and a white lion for raiding, specced very differently. One of the things I am extremely careful about is pulling aggro off a tank. You need to develop a feel for it. Wait for the tank to get multiple sunders in before allowing your pet to join the fight. Get an aggro monitoring tool like Omen to watch, and if you and/or your pet start to creep up there in aggro, back off. Feign death. Pull the pet back. Also as you indicated, in an instance turn Growl off.

Since Burning Crusade, we have a great talent called Misdirection that can be used to dump even more aggro on the tank as well. Let the tank gain aggro, cast Misdirection on the tank, then send your pet and fire.

Though it may have seemed like a rude comment from your PUG leader, learning to trap, chain trap, and kite is best done outside of an instance. It's more fun, no pressure, and you don't risk screwing up the instance run for everyone else. For fun, see how far you can kite some wacky mob out in the "non-instance" world. It's great practice. Just the other day I kited Volchon, a 60 elite monster, and a 58 elite dragon out of the Burning Steeps and into Redridge. I was in no danger of dying from the two, but the idea wasn't about defeating them and surviving. The exercise was to see how long I could keep them both on the kite string, how far I could bring them, and managing their aggro. The fun part is when all the lowbies look up and see the giant monsters show up in Redridge.



The hunter is one of the few classes you don't learn to play in a week or a month. You don't know how to play it just because you made it to 70. The hunter's abilities are subtle.

Be prepared to be criticized repeatedly as you learn to play your hunter. If you want easy mode, roll a lock. When you see a good hunter, it's a thing of beauty.

What We've Been Doing

Making Decisions: Felt a little pressure this week to level Aprillian and Ardrion, but at the same time, I'm getting antsy about money and all the money I could be making if I had a level 70. But I'm ambivalent, because I know even though I can push Auntrillia to 70, she doesn't have decent gear. And then it's HS all over again and I'm not in the right outfit.

Some were silly, bought a 24 slot LW bag. Ardrion has two 20 slot leatherworking bags, one in bank one on him but always needs more room. Since they are boe and unique, when I upgrade I'll have to vendor one.

I took Ardrion out to Tanaris to grind and farm turtles. It was a win win situation for him. He gets turtle meat, skin and turtle shell. Plus they are all neutral, he doesn't have to worry about aggroing other turtles. Although in a rare instance another turtle will join a fight, only happend twice the whole time he farmed/grinded turtles.


I didn't spend as much time as I usually do playing. Did a lot maintenance. Clearing out stuff. Sending low level greens to Aunrillia to de.S

Tay, my Ally Dranei AH alt is back to making money. I had some competition for a while, but it slacked off. I thought about this while I was transferring stuff in Booty Bay. It's a very tedious thing to do. You have to put each individual pet up for auction and then immediately bid on it on the other character right away. One time there was a bot there who snatched a cockroach away but I just overpriced it a bit and was okay. I imagine the average player doesn't have enough patience to do this on an ongoing basis.

I spent Thursday morning getting Auntrillia Enchanting to 100.

Friday morning, Aprillian, Treshel and Ardrion went to Gnomeran, just for fun. Of course we were overpowered for the instance, being 54, 46 and 41 respectively. I loved it. We all died when that Shortfuse chick set off that explosion. Aprilian used a soulstone and was stuck behind a wall of rocks and the other two spent 10 or 15 minutes running around Dun Morogh (whatever) until they found the

I haven't played as much as I normally do either.
Monday I spent some time with Asheal and Ashield out in Hellfire peninsula doing the 1st few quests. Then Ashayo came and helped Asheal get some quests done so that Asheal was a level or so ahead. Asheal is now 60.
Tuesday I was in Kara before shutdown to help finish clearing it. Got nightbane down with about 5 minutes to shutdown :)
Wednesday we had massive storms that took out the power and internet, so I didn't get to play at all.
Thursday was Jekle's turn for Kara with the "drunk with power" group. We have lots of fun and took our time downing the first three bosses. As you've seen Tarqq has an open invitation for you when you hit 70 - regardless of your gear!

Jekle and Hiide have been doing the new dailies, but haven't had time for the Ogri'la. The new bombing run on the Isle of Quel'Danas got nerfed in Tuesday's patch. It now requires less hits to kill the pit boss and the sorcerers, which is good, because it was taking too many re-runs, and about 80% of the time is just waiting for the flight to take you to the bombing area.

Something I meant to mention last week that I definitely DON'T like about 2.4. Hunter's got a big nerf in terms of their mana regeneration. Blizzard made the mana-per-5second formula the same across all classes. For a class like a hunter where mana is important, but we have previously not concentrated on maximising intellect, we're at a massive disadvantage. Estimates on the forums is that you need an intellect over 400 to get the same mana regeneration you were used to prior to 2.4. I'm having to change the way I do fights, and take alot more rests , which is a pain. On the flip side, Jekle as a resto druid is better off. And Ashayo's minions are regenerating mana faster, so I can mana tap them more regularly.

One thing I want to do is to try dual-boxing two of the same class - probably mages. I want to try out the technique of both toons casting the same spells simultaneously. However the only software I can find to do this isn't free. I'm both hesistant about buying it just for a trial, and because it isn't open-source, I can't be sure that it doesn't contain a keylogger - since it's very nature is to replicate keystrokes (and mouse movements)

Even though I've levelled my tailor past 300, I've been persisting with trying to get felcloth from the vendor in Winterspring. I was beginning to think that they'd taken it away in 2.4, as I spent hours there once and got nothing. Then one day I got 3 pieces in several hours, then another time I got 11 in about 2hrs. So the spawn rate seems very random.

I'm Sagala, and I'm an alt-aholic. Lol. I've been playing since WoW first went live, and I have a total of 20 alts. 10 on two servers. I think I'm a combination of both you and Glanthur in my play style, though. I love to explore new areas and experience everything I can in the game, but when I get focused I can get so much stuff done in the game. On one of my servers, I have a level 70 warrior, 64 priest, 64 hunter, 64 warlock, 62 rogue, 61 paladin, and a 44 mage. As you can see, I played there quite a bit. That was the server I started from the beginning on, and after the first level 60 character, I just decided that focusing on one single character was kind of boring to me, and I wanted to experience more in the game, so I started an alt, and while that one was being leveled, I paid more attention to the order of the quests, where to get them, the best places to grind, etc so I could go back with my third, forth, first, etc.. and level them up as quickly as possible. I think it was an excellent thing for me to do because I got a better understanding of how each class works, and what their roles are in instances and groups. Like with my priest, I know how to heal a warrior better because I've been main tank before. And vice verca…I know how to play my warrior to make life a little easier on healers. So anyway, I'm rambling…Fast forward to last march…I got a new job and found a bunch of co-workers that play together on the same server, so I asked them what they needed most, and they said they needed a tank, so I leveled another warrior to 70 just to play with them…lol. That's kind of sad, isn't it? J So anyway, I'm doing the same thing on this server as I did with my old one.. in fact, I only leveled 2 alts past 40, but I have the others already made so I can start them whenever I want. I've never tried dual boxing, though and I think it sounds really interesting and a new twist to gameplay that I haven't been able to experience yet. Veyle made some Green Iron Hauberek - blue chest mail - I need money for all of my characters. Sometimes you go for the loot and the levelling and of course the fun, but then sometimes you just need gold to train. With many alts, sometimes resources are plentiful and sometimes you find yourself a little short. As we've said before, there are so many ways to play this game.

Remodeling, what fun. I have to admit to being a little lax when putting up the show. The show takes about 5 to 7 hours of time outside of the game. Once the podcast is recorded, I am anxious to get it up and going. But now that this has been brought to my attention, I will try to put a little more effort into the processing part. I listened to this episode and did what I could to adjust the volume, I hope it is better.

Glanthur and I discuss what we've been doing. It's a casual conversation and we don't really try to stick to any serious guidelines. Hi,

My main is a level 70 rogue on Uldum named Hap, and I have a level 11
alt on Earthen Ring (in your guild) named Tuskface (I hate that name).
Anyway...

I think I said on the forums that there were only a few good podcasts
and the rest were junk.  Yours was not one I'd heard before so I gave it
a listen.  I have the following suggestions:

Your volume level changes during the show.  Some parts are fine, but
toward the middle things got very quiet and I had to turn my volume all
the way up.  I assume you must be editing each show.  Before you do
this, go through and normalize sections of the show, not just the whole
thing at once, so that they are all at about 98%.

It sounds like you are probably working from notes which is great!  But
(doesn't everyone have one) each part of the show could be a little
more defined, then stick to each topic then move on to the next.  If you
forget
something, do it at the end then edit that part into its proper
place (but don't mention that's what you're doing - no one will know!).

Content is good, and you seem to know your audience well (people with
alts under level 40).  This is great and not always easy to do.  I'm
glad there is a podcast for lower level players - it is something that has
been missing from the WoW podcast universe.

Not sure I would have reused the audio from that Australian dual-boxing
guy.  I don't like his segments.  I would rather have heard you two
summarize his thoughts, or had your own guest.

So I think you're doing great!  Keep up the good work and I will keep
listening to your Podcast along with The Instance, World of Warcast, and
WoW Chronicals.

Hi Aprillian, Just wanted to tell you about some problems I had getting your show. I was one of your contest winners from a couple months ago (the flaming tabard from the tcg) and at the time regularily listened to your show by downloading it from Digg, onto my Mp3 player. But then, all of a sudden, your podcast started to be posted onto Digg in a format that my Creavtive Nano couldnt play...Acc or Mp4 I believe it was! I dont know too much about audio files, just that it wasnt Mp3 format and couldnt play. But then, just last week I was poking around on your website and found that you can get just about any format of audio file, for any of your podcasts right there! So I just wanted to say I am in the process of listening to the last couple months that I've missed, and I wonder if other people know that they can find a huge variety of various audio files from your website. And also wanted to mention that I like your new co-host also, you two really radiate a true passion for the game unlike other podcasts (*********) not to mention any names. (But listen to that one sometime....they almost spend their whole time during the podcast complaining about various aspects of the game) Ron

I found a nice bit of writing in the game. As a BE, I had to help an undead NPC create a "new plague" and one of my quests was to test this plague on a human's dog, Stanley, in Hillsbrad Foothills. Well, as I was questing with my Draenei, Arlaerus, one of the Alliance NPCs said that his friend in Hillsbrad had to recently put down his dog Stanley because it "grew to an enormous size and attacked anyone who came near". Hehehehe. Yeah, sorry 'bout that - my bad. Just shows how in-depth this game is.

Arlaerus is Level 36 now. Almost to 40. I also have maxed out the number of alts I can have on Earthen Ring. =(

Auntrillia hits 60 - I don't think I made a big deal out of it last week, but this is the first level 60 character I've ever had. It just dawned on me that this would have been the level cap back in early January.
Iwari is back in Crushbridge Hold - it was suggested she could go mine mithril in Tanaris. When I said liked being in the cave and having the convenience of multiple nodes. But the next question, but won't she stop getting xp? made me laugh. It isn't always about the leveling.

Hey guys, this is orcbreaker again, I know I emailed you once today but I was just looking on wowwiki.com and apparently in the new expansion for wow they are going to be adding a new class that starts off at over level 50 apparently, they call it deathnight.

Don't take my word for it because i'm not sure whether it's true or not but I'll keep an eye out for it again, cya

Finding the right vendor for fussy pets can be a right pain.
So what I do is buy up big - buy 6 stacks of fish for that turtle.
But you don't want to have it use up 6 slots right?
No problem, mail it to an alt. Then on your alt, just return the mail.
So then, wherever there is a mailbox, there is food! (There are alot more mailboxes than vendors or banks)

Also, treat your pet with higher level food.
For example, "Striped Yellowtail" says "requires level 35". But that's just for you!
Irkle, my turtle, is only level 33, and I can feed him those. This has the added benefit of having him gain more happiness from the feed pet effect. (You know to always keep the pet happy (green) right? That way they cause 125% of damage.)

What Aprillian has been doing:

• Twinking Pri - Networking helped, (guildies, internet)
• reworking my characters for alliance selling because of mail changes. Putting alliance at Neutral AH and Alliance in Exador on same account. This way, anytime I want something from alliance AH, I can now get it at once. Ally on Exador buys it, sends it to Ally in Booty Bay, who then puts it on neutral AH and my Horde Toon in Booty Bay can buy it and send it instantly to anyone on that account or in an hour to another toon. Consider putting a toon on all accounts in Booty Bay but would take up too many valuable Alt Slots.
  

What Glanthur has been doing:

Leveling Morion and Arlaerus. Morion has a felhunter now! Not as sexy as the Succubus, but could be a lot of fun? I'm sad about warlocks getting nerfed in the next patch, but I do see the potential of them being really overpowered at higher levels. I'd love to see protection-based paladins have more skills to make them a little bit stronger with their single weapon. I've also been collecting large amounts of enchanting material. Any day now Morion is just going to pop and go up 20-30 levels in enchanting. That will be a good day.

Hey Aprillian and Glanther this is lilthis again, now a 70 Night Elf Warrior, after listening to your last podcast where someone mentioned lightheaded i wanted to suggest another addont hat goes great right along side lightheaded it is called TOM TOM and it does just as the GPS it shows you where to go, any time cordinates are found in ligtheaded or throughout the game you can left click and it will put a nice marking on you map it can be found at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html and really helps, expect to hear from me as i will probable be sending in a recorded audio file this week as well keep up the good work.


Hey Guys its Auho (Ah-ho) again.

Lately I have been playing my level 16 hunter, Jovvi, and I was wondering if you could tell me a few tips to playing a hunter. Since you have mentioned several times that you have a few of them. Also in patch 2.2 Blizzard is adding voice chat for instance and raid groups to the game, what do you think of that? I'm all for it as long as it doesn't create server lag.

Also I am a mod nut so I am going to tell you about another great mod I use called Mappy (http://downloads.curse.com/details/7917/). It takes your mini map and makes it a square. Which lets you see a lot more!! And if you use a lot of mods like I do it makes the buttons fit better around the map.

You only learn new grimmoires every 2 levels the same as training.
So each time you train, just scroll thru the grims looking for "requires level xx" (eg 30) when you hit level 30.

Train the current minion, put it on "stay" and walk away. At some distance, it despawns and you get the shard back. Summon the next, rinse and repeat!

Hi, Just listened to 30. I guess I sent my email about 29 to the wrong address... I used ctrl instead of ctr I guess.... strange how my 2 earlier emails got through... oh well.

I haven't used any twinks. I'm interested in getting to 70 and seeing what's what then. Do either of you do the pvp things? Battlegrounds/arenas/etc? I never really cared for pvp stuff...

I agree with instances are fun when you find a good group. I'm doing BRD now (priest) and it is a very tough place. I've been trying to get lock the elite horse quest which has a part in Scholomance... holy cow what a tough place. Still not luck after 3 tries... I find instance interesting when using diff alts... which makes it fresher... you know the layout but you have to adjust your gameplay to you class.

Hi, just finished your latest podcast after spending 4+ hours in SM killing all the bosses there. Other than the staff in the library nothing really drops there for mages. Anyway, this mage is an enchanter. This is my first time with an enchanter. I had my other chars send the enchanter stuff they didn't need so enchanting didn't really cost me any out-of-pocket money. I'm at 225 and now I have to go to Uldman for the trainer. I'm not happy about that at all. I haven't had any lucky getting ported/summoned to BC though that would be the easiest way to go. I tried once to disenchant another's players soulbound item and was unable to. I gathered from the podcast that you can do this? I'll have to try again if that is the case. As far as disenchanting for the group, the shards sell for good money but not sure about the different dust. I guess it would be more money then vendoring the item.
With all my chars I've been in some strange group policies as far as loot. I've had some that you never need no matter what. I've had some that players say "If XZY drops I get it, O.K.?" I find these really annoying... you should need if it is better than what you are wearing, otherwise greed. Most if not all are pick-up groups and some of the players are questionable quality. I think the thought of doing the disenchanting is too complicated for the groups I've been in. I've had players whine and quit the group if they didn't get an item. For example the staff in the SM library: I needed it and so did a shaman, I won the roll and the shaman whined about it and quit the group. I don't get it.
I was in STV in a group with someone who before starting playing WoW decided not to use any outside info about the game. No custom UI, no looking at stuff on the web. I thought it was interesting idea but I would go crazy if I had to do that... I play spellcasters and the normal UI is not good enough for me. I have spells for keys 1 through =, Shift 1 through Shift, F6 - F13 and shift F6 - F13. I currently use FuBar, Auctioneer, WoWKB, Cartographer, MBB and just started using LightHead which give info about quests in a window next to the quest window (avoids having to look up stuff on web). I use MacAceUpdater to handle most of these addons.
Well, have fun playing WoW. I'm still not decided if I should transfer to another server. It took me days to find a good enough group for SM. I don't mind the money if I could be sure the server was better... maybe I'll go to Earth-Ring... lol
Oh, did you notice that with the latest patch you no longer have to wait an hour before receiving items in the mail... YIPPPEEE!!! I love it.

Observations
• Dranei men sound like Worf’s father, is there a connection? Saw the Drainei mounts, very cool
• Tip: If you are near and heading back to the inn you hearthed from and you need just one more space in your bag, you can destroy the stone and get a new one at the end

House Cleaning
• I took all of my alts to their banks and cleaned out their banks and bags. You probably have some stuff that you needed to get your craft up to the current level, put what you don’t need on AH. Make it a fairly reasonable price. If it sells, you’ll have some more money, if it doesn’t, it will be mailed back to you, where you can keep it in your mailbox until you find another alt who needs it or you can use it, or sell it. This does mean you won’t know when you get new mail. But for me, that’s only important on my Banker alts to see if I sold something for big money on AH. You should already be sending all of your big AH stuff to your Banker alt.
• Cleared Out Quest.
o Looked for Quests that were collecting quests and completed as many as I could
o Deleted grey quests unless I needed the rep
Vendor in Alterac Valley – Rizz Loosebolt- I like those out of the way vendors, he can’t repair but he can buy the vendor trash so you can stay out farming a little longer. He’s in the area where the little fake cave is, it’s called Slaughter Hollow, directly opposite the opening to Crushbridge Hold.

Tried LOTR Stress Test
• The character creation is limited because it reflects only what was in the books/movie human –mf, elf –mf, hobbit –mf, and dwarf male. No dwarf females because I guess they weren’t in the book. But how do you get dwarf males without females? I also think you should be a big fan of the game before playing. I read the first book, the Hobbit, and of course the LOTR series is set after that. I couldn’t get into the movies at all.
• Some people were complaining that it looked like WoW, which is ridiculous. There’s a set formula for any MMORPG, people were probably saying WoW looked like EQ
• I didn’t stay on the server very long, but it looked pretty.

• Great for Guilds, even better for people with alts. I stumbled onto this on Digg.com. It sounded promising, so I decided to give it a try. I was really impressed. For free you get a very well put together and customizable site that includes forums, roster, a calendar and a wiki.
• With a minimum amount of effort, I made a pretty nice site: http://ctrlaltwow.guildlaunch.com/
• It uses an addon on called Guild Launch Profiler http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchProfilerCURRENT.zip

• There are several steps to adding characters that must be done on a regular basis or the info will be outdated. Once the addon is loaded, you have to right click your avatar pic and select Create Guild Launch Profile for each of your characters. If you want to include information from the bank, you have to take that character to the bank, likewise you have to go to the stable master to get all of your pet info. Also open all of your tradeskills, you’ll see a listing of what you can make scroll by in chat. This creates a file called GuildLaunchProfiler.lua which is located in "World of Warcraft/WTF/Account////SavedVariables/GuildLaunchProfiler.lua">. You upload this file on your Character Page and it uploads a whole lot of information up to the website about your character. Now you can easily see the skills, levels, items the character can craft even when you aren’t online. It also conveniently provides a direct link that you can later use to get

• Working on cleaning out her Quest Log, picked up the Errand for Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) quest in UC while doing the Valentine’s day quest. This quest requires a trip to Tanaris. Which was great because she had the Wastewander Justice - (Step 1) Quest undone, so she took Rilfire with her.
• Also got another coin from the Elder in Un Goro Crater

• Made several Comfortable Hats with the recipe Illia sent her. Ilia paid 16 gold on AH for the recipe, but she’s already sold 2 at 3 gold so I should make my money back. Rilfire did the Errand for Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) and Wastewander Justice - (Step 1) with Aprillian, both she and Aprillian made some serious gold just vendoring the stuff dropped and the money from the Wastewander Bandits and Thieves.

Treshel
• She made the change, dropped Herbalism and took up Jewel Crafting. I spent some time trying to get the gem and mining bags for her. You have to go to Outland to get them. I was in Silvermoon when a 260ish level Jewel Crafter who was upper 60’s was asking what level everyone was. I asked him about the bags, he had one but didn’t realize it was BOE. Then he mentioned he was having a time with JC because he couldn’t find gold. Using Character viewer, I found a stack of gold ore and a stack of gold bars and offered them to him if he would go to Outland and get the bags. Turned out there was only one mining bag and he didn’t realize I wanted the Jewel as well, but I got the mining bag for the two stacks of gold, which was good.
• Also cleaned out some Quest stuff and managed to solo the Apothecary Zinge - (Step 1) Quest and the Into the Field - (Step 3) in Tanaris and did the timed quest Tanaris Field Sampling “Acquire acceptable samples for 8 basilisks, 8 hyenas, and 8 scorpions. Bring the testing kit back to Chief Engineer Bilgewhizzle in Gadgetzan before the power source runs out.” Which I loved.

• Level 14 Just did the Lunar Festival Quest – She got the 2 for 1 deal with the rockets I tried to do it with all my alts just in case I decide to play them down the road. She had 6 coins so she got the dress and a pack of dumplings

What’s Going On
Lunar Festival I don’t know about you, but I spent the weekend running my alts from city to city to pick up ancestry coins. While it might sound boring, it was actually quite enjoyable. Some alts got new flight paths and all the reputation points were well worth it.
• Sometimes I only need 4 fireworks and 1 cluster bomb/got credit for 2 each time.
• I did mostly the ones I could easily access and I tried to do it without going online. I couldn’t find the guy in the Hinterland, but I took Aprillian L57H
• When opening the rest of your adoration packages, shift click to see what’s inside. The box of chocolate makes great buffs and are transferable in the package. You can hit esc and close the package back up and then mail it to an alt that can use it.

The funny thing was there was another school right where the ship docks. But of course if I could have stolen fish from an Alliance character, I would have done the same thing. So I got three of the fish and she got the last one, then I went to the other school and the boat came, but I knew I had enough time to fish the one more time before the boat would leave and I caught one more and then Pril and Zee hopped on the boat. The Alliance chick was with a friend, two blonde human bimbos, LOL.

• Creed went to get the Dragon Hawk Hatchlings, BE’s get a discount. I had sent Ctraltwow to get them and they were 50s, for Creed it’s 45s, after 9, that’s a free Hatchling.

I want to apologize for the quality of this podcast. I had to record it using my iPod and a Belking Tunetalk in a crowded train station. I actually did a version of the show before I left on my trip to San Francisco for MacWorld, but I didn't save it and I lost it all. I was kind of rushing because I had a 10pm train to catch. When I got to my next city and had a 7 hour layover, I decided to put together a podcast and get it out there. The first part was in the train station, but then I wanted some good internet access and found 2 hours for $2.95 at McDonald's. I spent 4 hours recording and putting it together. I tried really hard not to record when there was obsessive noise. I hope it wasn't too bad. Thanks for listening.

I WHAT’S GOING ON
A. Preparing for the Burning Crusade
i. Most upper level folks have been grinding I suppose but I’ve been gathering materials. Level 41 Hunter Treshel is mining her heart out. Level 10 Alliance is mining copper so she can send to my new Dranei, then she will be deleted. I feel kind of guilty knowing she’s working so hard only to be “killed” off.
ii. Took my 52 into Azshara to do Hunter Quest – Very hard and challenging solo but it was worth it. Found the limit of riding through mobs
B. After listening to some other podcasts about World of Warcraft, I realized I needed to cover the “why I play World of Warcraft” subject. I’ve touched on how I’ve come to play it, with some friends from Second Life, but I never really elaborated on why I love it so much.
1. My history in gaming:
a. A little Magic the Gathering. Mostly computer games. Hitchhiker’s Guide Text game. Played a version of Dungeons & Dragons on a DOS computer. Loved the quest.
b. Arcade Games Pacman in Japan, Centipede, Missile Command, Asteroid House of the Dead II – Going through the same game trying to do better. In HOD2, I knew which monsters were coming from where and when to get ready. It was repetitious but challenging.
c. A-Train, Sim City, Deus Ex, Marathon (the whole series)The Sims, Quake 3, TSO and the Second Life,.
2. I love virtual worlds. There is something very attractive about a place I can visit just by logging in on my computer. I loved playing Marathon and Quake 3. I played Quake 3 with a friend. She was in NY and I was in DC and we’d set up a server and played the game from start to finish. It was so much fun. We both had earpieces from our cell phones and we talked to each other. Being on my computer and interacting with another person was so much fun. The Sims were great because there were all the other aspects of interactivities, and this led to TSO, which was fun because of the interactions with other real people. Second Life was an awesome eyeopener because you could personalize and build. 3. But when I tried WoW and I found it had all the elements of the games I most loved. It had quests, like Quake 3 and Marathon, with the grouping aspects and virtual online like TSO and SL, along with the creative aspects and personalization. Alts brings with it the whole D&D game/Sims game
iii. Played my alliance character – 2 funny things happened both in Fargodeep Mine in Elwynn Forest
1. I came upon a player just standing in one of the tunnels. He was being attacked by two Kobold Tunnelers and he was going down. I took the two mobs down and was going to keep going, Pryl was farming copper. But then I realized some more mobs would be spawning, so I stayed nearby. I sent him a whisper telling him to wake up. After about 5 minutes he was back and fighting. A few min later he whispered a thanks back to me and said he had to chase his kid. I told him I thought as much and was glad to help.
2. Later, as I was mining, another behind me and tried to mine the same one I was mining. I don’t mind sharing but I could tell on the mini-map there was another node just a few feet ahead into the tunnel and this person seemed to be trying to sneak in. When I’m questing with a party, we usually take turns to get the exp, because if I hit it once and another miner hits it once, we both will get a point of exp. But this guy almost seemed to be hitting it as I was hitting to take it from me. I just laughed to myself and he ran ahead and got the next one after killing some mobs. I went ahead and killed a bunch more and got another node. Then I got a whisper that said “don’t take all the copper, I need some”. I kind of chuckled at that and said, “we all need copper, hon” and he wrote “yeah, but don’t take it all.” Now I’m perplexed and I said “so if I see some copper, I’m suppose to run by it?” I wasn’t trying to be mean, the nodes in Fargodeep respawn fairly quickly, so there was no danger of my “taking all the copper”

2. Re-doing Talent trees – this is a lot of work when you have 18 alts. I am the epitome of casual player. Get all your alts to the appropriate city - neat bonus presents - Festive Gift, Ticking Present, Gaily Wrapped Present, which has the Mechanical Greench, which will fight for you but only has 3 charges and I believe expires at the end of the festivities. Then there are the Red and Green Helpers and Miniature Reindeers that are semi-rare pets. They are very cute but require a snowball to activate, so if you get one, you better stock up on snowballs. Come summer, the snowballs will go up in price.

Fun Quests - Two (maybe 3, I noticed on my lower level alts, I just saw 1 and then on the 40+ I saw a second one) from the Smokeywood Pasture vendor, find Treats lost in Alterac Mountain. - In Orgrimmar and Ironforge. Some are easy, like the one that gets the book from the Shaman trainer in Thrall's chamber and takes it to Thunder Bluff. Good Exp

 =Translocator in Undercity works both ways, so if you're in Beta and want to get to Silvermoon city, this would be a quick way. After you enter the Lordaeron ruins make a right a the big fountain and go up the stairs into the room there. It's a red orb, right click and bam you're in Silvermoon City.
